Thank you, Peter. I appreciate the different views you offer. One additional view, that I can see immediately that I would need, is to see the tasks listed outside of the doc's they reside in. I don't want to have to open those panels (docs) to see my tasks.
The Inbox should be order automatically by date. Unscheduled task could be at the top. Showing completed tasks should not come within a popup but in the same list, with completed tasks at the bottom.
@@connorhaskins2250 Maybe having a 'view all tasks' to see all scehduled and unscheduled tasks...but agree, once a task has been scheduled, it should move out of the inbox to the daily note.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I recently decided to go all in on Craft. First I switched my personal phone from Android to Apple. I am now in the midst of moving all of my random collections from Evernote, Notion and Onenote to Craft. After this news I feel even more validated that I made the right choice. I can’t wait to use these new features!
Exciting news! It would be neat if one could see tasks that are sitting in a document (or daily note at that) in a list without having to click on the document. Purpose: To have a comprehensive overview of tasks without the aid of the calendar.
What I’d love to see is Tasks agnostic from notes so I can freely manage them for my day. I heavily use the daily note, it’s the basis of my working day, it documents my work, my schedule and it’s where I setup my working day In your example everything tasks revolves around the task view. I’d rather prefer task from notes and daily notes to accumulate in this view so that they can be quickly scheduled. IMHO tasks still sitting in notes (rather than made individually visible) Isn’t really accessible
Feedback: - That's a lot of clicking around with the mouse for each step. Please add keyboard shortcuts for as many of these steps as possible - To be able to trust Craft as my task manger, it needs have not just a Date but also Time configuration for any task. Plus a reliable system for Notifications on iOS and desktop (otherwise, I'll never use it). - The psychological weight of having to see all those "open loops", with documents upon documents of unfinished tasks is both demotivating and distracting. Please add a Views option to hide all those docs that contain tasks
If there are many tasks spread across different documents, why aren't they all in my Inbox? Having a dedicated Task section in the sidebar means nothing if it doesn't show all my tasks in one place.
In GTD methodology, the inbox serves only as a temporary collection point for unsorted tasks. Documents function like filing cabinets, while the inbox represents your mailbox. Just as you regularly empty your physical mailbox, you should process new items promptly and sort them into their appropriate categories. I can imagine the "Documents with Tasks" section will additionally provide an overview where all tasks are visible at a glance.
@@DjeticSokolic Im with you. I think a consolidate "Task" will be great. I often find that I have to go back to the previous days and see what I have not completed and manually move them to "Today". That coupled with a Rolling unfinished task to Today will be great.
This looks promising and some of it has a similar look and feel to Things 3. Any plans to add a due time in addition to the date? The best thing (hah!) about Things for me is integration with Apple Watch so that tasks appear there when I am in a meeting with the person assigned to that task and I get the alert without having to refer to iPhone or Mac. I have played around with Noteplan quite a bit, because of its task implementation, but keep coming back to Craft because of the polished look.
I was so excited for this, but after viewing this video multiple times I don't think this will do what I need it to. At all. I simply want all my tasks to automatically populate to a task page/inbox and retain the link to the original page. From there I can add to the proper calendar date. "Docs With Tasks" might be useful for cleaning up old tasks, but this isn't how I want to manage them day to day. Example, I'm in a meeting taking meeting notes in Craft and I need to do 3 things as a followup to that meeting. /todo creates the task. Now I need those individual tasks to go to an inbox so I don't forget them. I go to another meeting that has 2 tasks. At the end of the day I can see all 5 tasks in an "inbox" of sorts. Is that so hard? I don't want to go to a task page to enter them; I want this to auto populate where I can process my next steps.
A nice development to catch up to alternative options. I loved using craft but stopped using because of lack of proper ToDo basics so will be interesting to see final product
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I was literally just trying to figure out some way to do this and today was trying to figure out an elegant solution. You guys truly come through,. Helps me keep everything in Craft. I would like to apply for the Beta , but the link doesn't work.
I would love to see API integration capabilities here as well. My top use case would be the ability to create tasks in a document and have it feed into something like Todoist with two way syncing.
It would be helpful if the viewer windows for task selection functioned like the document block-based system. This would allow users to extract/copy, or paste multiple tasks simultaneously between documents.
Hopefully, I am just being premature. But comma this whole task thing within craft seems too complicated and cumbersome. It might have some utility but as of now I cannot see it ever replacing my standalone task app which for me is Things three.
Thanks for the feedback. This is makes sense. If you have a great workflow with great tools, you should stick to it. We hope to offer new capabilities, for those who didn't settle yet one anything, or they aren't satisfied with their status quo.
This has potential, but... First let me say that I walked away from Craft a few months ago when an update radically changed navigation and it made my process on my iPad (my primary device) almost unusable. Adding this feature would go a long way to getting me back IF and only IF it included a single table with all the tasks spread across notes linking to each. Having to click on each and every note on that screen just to see the tasks is too much. If you provide a way to see them all in one place, I would come back and try again.
Extremely disappointed with the so long waiting feature with such a outdated and confusing design. I was always able to Star a doc to see them at one place. Back tracking was also available. What was needed was one place to see all the task created from everywhere in the craft and the task page would have used to organise this stuff better, Where as u just show all back links which doesnt help much...
So now I have to click twice to get to today's note. And what I like about Craft is its document focus, which allows for putting tasks inside a context - be it text, subtasks, attachments, etc. Ripping tasks outside of their contexts just doesn't seem to help with anything. If I wanted a simple todo list, I could already do that by creating a document and putting all tasks there.

I totally agree. Otherwise after sometime we will miss outstanding tasks.

great to see the upcoming features coming to Craft! Great video, thanks for putting it together!
Recurring tasks?
This please!
Yep, without recurring tasks as well, this is a waste of time.
You know he just knows the new updates are epic... "oh yea we also made some updates in calendar as well" 🤣 at 4:44

Yes! I imagine this could be easily introduced as an alternative view for the Docs With Tasks section.

It seems that you can collapse the Docs With Tasks section. Regarding your other points I want to add my +1

@@samuel.f.koehler that should be fine as long as there is a place with all the tasks.

Will you be opening up the TypeForm again? Would love to try this out.
Yeehaw! will I be able to still add content (little right arrow thingee) to a todo task? (like the phone number of your doctor?
