A big issue for me in kaiju photography is scale. Most figures are around 7-8" tall, which rough means 1:220 or Z scale. So you can look for that info. However, I find at that tiny scale, there isn't much detail in the buildings. So I fudge things and go with 1:150 or N scale. Most of my buildings are from TomyTec or Kato and they are gorgeous, with so much detail and windows/access for lighting. Plus, if you get larger and smaller scale buildings and place them in the foreground and background, you can do great forced perspective stuff
I don't know if Tamashi Nation has them in anymore in stock. Still, this is worth mentioning. Some years ago they released a diorama building display piece (a road, four buildings, and the ability to buy multiple and create several blocks worth of it to connect with). Likewise, they sold a destroyed variant of these (smashed roads and buildings). The fun thing was that the roofs (or ground) had Tamashi pegs so you could put stands on them. They introduced these with classic Ultraman (in their Figuarts line) who had a unique colored building compared to the normal ones. The customization was off the charts! I bought NINE of these and with the multiple Monsterart effect pieces I had previously owned (they came with crushed buildings, tanks, masers, jets, and Super X III). One could build their city with kaiju from various franchises (and various companies) laying waste to it. My own display has Figuarts Ultraman, Baltans (and their spaceship), Zetton, Gomora, Belial, Monsterarts Gamera (Legion), Revoltech Gyaos (Guardian of the Universe), Godzilla (Hiya), and Rodan (NECA).
30 Minute Missions has a line of hexagonal bases that can have scenery such as desert, snow, or water. One of those sets is a destroyed building, power line, and highway. It's all dark grey/black so you'll need to paint it if you want it to look like a realistic building though.
In my regular display, I use a combination of the Eyepop and Outland buildings. I generally keep the Outland buildings in the background, and sometimes paint them up as "damaged", while the Eyepop stuff is in the foreground.
I've been fortunate enough to build an awesome collection of building, and figures. Eyepop designs is a strong recommend. The cheaper Amazon ones do need to be put together, but are fun as well. Eye pop scales so well with hiya/shma, and the cheaper ones with super7.
Good job! Your videos are always very educational and fun. So many details and full of little tips not just about photography which is awesome. Thank you for sharing! I've been looking at some inexpensive 3d figure props for hands/heads... they add up. I've seen some 3D printers for around ~$150, maybe in the long run getting one would more affordable.
Awesome video, gonna have to try that mirror trick with my kaiju photos. I also use a Samsung flat screen tie as my night sky. The inky black on the screen when it’s off works very well.
hey, i love your videos! you inspired me to buy and start an action figure collection. quick question, what action figure stands do you usually use in your toy photography?
Love this video! It’s nuts how scarce kaiju-sized dio elements are, depending on your monster’s scale (Heisei is way bigger than Showa for Godzilla, for example). What I find even more baffling is how limiting cityscape backgrounds are, like I’ll need to print one myself. All the sewers, streets, bases, but none of the action figure diorama companies want to do kaiju-scale backgrounds??
I love your tutorials, they’re really helpful ! However I think you should consider doing another iPhone video, as the second one is superb but unfortunately dated.
I mean it’s N scale like the outland building but tommytec and Kato have N scale buildings for trains. The Outland buildings were mostly for Gundam the 1/144 scale.
I bought 2 buildings Saturday 3-D printed, they where 7in tall an they look amazing they ran me $7.50 a piece, and I'm going to get a 9in to10in hopefully next week.
I think I rather print them myself, since shipping cost is too much here, could cost more than the product I bought, averaging $100 or so. Plus from what I see, none of them is to-scale with Hiya Toys' releases that I do collect. The scale I would use for Monsterverse Hiya is 1/666.6 or 1/700. I am a scale strict guy, so just having any building at any scale won't do it for me.
The Jakks Pacific Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Rodan and King Gidorah included a small cluster of buildings segmented so that they could shatter apart when hit. It's very stylized and they are either green or orange, so it's unfortunately not very realistic and more suited as toys for little kids out-of-box. You could paint it though
Hello! By any chance, you know which brand scale well with the GUNDAM action figures (the ones made from rubber) that you find in Walmart, any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Im thinking of starting my own business making these things. I use small fireworks and extreme slow motion to make hot wheels go boom but I’ve been trying to find more buildings and it seemed cheaper to buy the 3d printer. Anyone wanna share some ideas on what I should start with? Will be aiming for a January launch. 🤞
I'm cheak so what I am looking for are buildings low in price that are the proper scale. Godzillia is at least 50 stories tall. So I can't use buildings that are too large. Making them myself isn't working well.
I’m a Godzilla Collector,So I need these buildings,Thanks for telling me how to get them
Same

They’re not currently produced but Bandai should absolutely bring those back, I will absolutely stock up on them if they did.

I was literally just looking for buildings like this, and then your video popped up! Thanks a bunch man 😁

Hey Dave!! Thanks a lot man!

Diego Doom has some great advice on city building and where to get them.
Love this video, I just bought a Godzilla Minus One figure from Super 7!!
Very cool! Nice work as always 👍
Thanks man!!
Hello sirdork sorry I didn’t join the premiere but I’m here to watch the video now! But have a nice day anyways!!!

I love your tutorials, they’re really helpful ! However I think you should consider doing another iPhone video, as the second one is superb but unfortunately dated.
Hey thanks so much! Hmm a new phone video? 🤔 I unfortunately still use the same phone then as I do now 😭😭
Can u give me some tips on phone photography in the rain cos here in the uk I struggle to get ideas with Mando.
Actually Kaiju Designs looks like it's Fisk400 buildings. I could be wrong but they look identical. Fisk400 has over 1000 designs.
@@VictorLaster I’ve never heard of fisk400! I’ll have to look into them!
Great review this helps a lot! I can’t find the led buildings unfortunately tho.
I have 4 of those buildings in my collection.I got them 5 years ago
Honestly, for buildings you can't go wrong using random ones that you mentioned here.
Don't forget to like this video helpful stuff even if You can print your own stuff
Appreciate it Lucian!!!

Don't forget the Pacific Rim Mcfarlane figures!!
This was four hours ago well, I was in school four hours ago so it’s not my problem that I missed it
But you didn’t miss anything 🤣 it’s a video on the channel forever 🤣
You could use legos and even break them for more action I assume
Please do a video for buildings/scenery for the World of halo figures

I got my building sets from my friend, i bought two different sets for just $27, and they contain a lot of items
I have ones that you can destroy and put back together and there much better if you want the name it’s Pasific Tim toy sets
Is there any like buildings that can be broken when hit?
