They sweeped these award shows in 2019, they won a total of 9 awards and took home ALL the grand prizes (daesangs). There was only one daesang being awarded this year for MAMAs 2024 and our Jimin won it LITERALLY TODAY! So great timing for this reaction lol. Imagine being in the military barracks and still winning the grand prize over all these active famous groups/artists 😳 BTS paved the way for real. The daesang was created for BTS in 2018 and they were the only one to win since the award was invented 💜 This is the first year BTS didn’t win it…and Jimin won it instead. The only group that can beat BTS’ record is BTS 😭🙏

At 23:15 is Soobin and Yeonjun from TXT! They are AMAZING artists and are the only other group under their label (Bighit) other than BTS. They have a really close relationship with bts, and they respect each other so much. They also had a recent comeback with their title track 'Over the Moon'. EXPLANATION. Dionysus is the g.od of excess. So they visually portray that theme majestically and masterfully. Others have mentioned.. Yes, this dance was the last dance of their long performance. And it was their hardest choreography to date. Jumping off of the set. The in sync hand and upper body choreography twice was brilliant. No mistakes!! The song was very long. So their endurance to the end is admirable. Dionysus was the g.od of wine and food and celebrating and feasting and partying. The boys did themselves proud. Note. No animals were harmed. They filmed that part with no audience and no sound and then ahowed the film to the audience. Note. BTS did award shows every year starting in 2013. So then watch every year consecutively to see how they got better and better. This was the last big one for everyone. Covid hit. So everyone filmed their performance to be shown on TV. Nothing was as big as this ever. But BTS and their creators really became creative, and I love what they did on the covid years, too. Don't miss a year. Enjoy. A funny thing. They did perform this song live again. One set person forgot to put Jimin's chair up on the table at the very end, so he had to pretend he was sitting. Then, duh, the guy remembered and slid it on under Jimin's butt. There is a video of the mistake. But of course, Jimin handled it so professionally that no one noticed except the side cameraman. Enjoy every year.

This performance took 3 months to prepare. It was going to be their last big award show performance before their world tour and enlisting in the military so they went all out. But then the pandemic happened in 2020 and all their plans changed.

When I saw Jimin in his solo performance I was absolutely captivated and when I found out that he was the only one who did it live in front of the audience I appreciated it even more, he is a beauty that has never been seen on a kpop stage. I love Jimin, he`s so talented and unique
They are all talented. Jimin’s is the only one that could have been done in person except for maybe V’s. The others would have taken too much time to set up, etc. They would have had to set up all that water and JK would have had to be stripped out if wet leather and hair dried… JHope and lasers could not have been done with that crowd. Jimin did great and should be commended, BUT his wasn’t mint under cloth and doing his performance. It isn’t a matter of the others not being able to do it live as far as talent. It is all about logistics.

A lot of things could have been a disaster considering the cloth that he had to work with... not to mention he did a flip with the cloth. He could've just recorded it too as It's not easy. He deserves to be praised. To do such a performance live was a very brave move. But I agree, every member is equally talented. I love them all.

I became an ARMY shortly before their Persona album dropped and I ended up watching this live through one of the channels airing the show and even THAT was incredible, I can't imagine actually BEING THERE. I was SO happy to see it start off with RM performing Persona because I'd wanted to see that performed live when I watched the Persona MV when it dropped. But this whole award performance was MIND BLOWING. ARMY twitter was in chaos with each new thing the guys did. I was NOT expecting any of it but they did so phenomenally. I've watched this award show on my own and in reactions SO many times lol. But just wanted to add that, I've been watching your reactions for a bit, love your energy, you're very positive and adorable and you're really fun to watch in these reactions. 💜 EDIT : Serious Namjoon is on another level. Like all the guys are hot and I knew that, including Namjoon but when he gets this serious look, it's like WHEW BOY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I've seen some people reference his eyes as dragon eyes and I have to agree. And, Tae's kinda growl in aggressive songs when he's live is....yeah, I like it.
Hi Peachy! I know this performance by heart, but never tired NEVER tired to watch it! BTS are GOD tier performers! MMA 2019 is huge in budget, scenery, scale, everything, but they never slacked before neither after. They always put their all in every shows even when they were rookie! Western performances look so tiny and dull in comparison... So you can watch all MAMA and MMA since 2016
If you are confused about the outfit changes or how Jungkook got dry, not all of it was live. I’m pretty sure the first part of RM’s intro while he was in the classroom was prerecorded, the Mikrokosmos performance was definitely prerecorded (which is also how they added all those visual effects) and so was Jungkook’s dance solo. ^ on Jungkook, can’t remember if it was this one or another award show but I think he did do the dance live for the fans, but he was already dressed for the next dance and there was no water - he just danced along to the prerecorded video that was also playing overhead.
The only ones live for the solo intro were Jimin and Namjoon and Namjoon did not hit the stage but almost were it would have very much hurt. But JK (and the others I think) did dance - just not in water.

I think because the show was live on tv, they added effects real time that that you could see at home. Someone mentioned they also used drones and fog. Epic. i understand that the first part of Dionysus with the horses was filmed the previous day with no music, noise or audience so that the horses were not traumatised - then they cut to the boys on stage for the performance.

Re: the oh whoa whoa ad libs - one of the BEST things about live performances is that the adlibs are more forward in the mix and they sound sooooooo good. I can't tell you how many adlibs I never heard in the track, and then discovered by watching live performances. The one I'm obsessing over at the moment is JK's adlibs in I'm Fine, in the PTD concert on Dis+. I have watched it so many times, both cuz the entire performance is so hype, but also because of those adlibs!!!!

Scammy's didn't nominate BTS this year because they're in the military - so Scammy's can't have them perform for views. You have to be nominated to perform so they've only been nominating them for them to show up and perform but have no intention of giving them an award.
It would have been very fair to nominate Namjoon for "Right Place, Wrong Person" - which is according to most important critics one of the best albums this year - but you are absolutly right: He would not have won but his performance would have attrackted people to view the Grammy's - and since he is serving the later was not possible. (and I'm glad he can not be there).

@@cnot4948 To be fair the most views are usually pulled by the maknaeline and Jin had not put out new music. Hobi did put out new music but it was more of a soundtrack and not charting the way Scammies like and also in Korean. There is a chance that they will get nominated again in 2026 - since a new album is likely to be put out in late in 2025 at the earliest by the whole group (HYYH project probably) - which is too late for 2025. (and they are not going to nominate Jin even as he deserves it) I do believe they will eventually earn the Grammy - but it will take time to break the resistance. by that time I'm not sure how much the members will be interested in it other than a "been there, done that" for their list.
@@ruthfischer7615 I personally don't put much value on a Grammy since it's been a 'who's who' award for over 20 years now and more about who can grease their (the voting member's) palms more. If BTS ever get one (as a group or individually) I'll be happy for them for achieving another milestone. But I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it. The biggest reward for BTS is people listen to their music, go to their concerts and appreciate them. Side Note - Queen never won a Grammy and they have some of the most iconic music in history that even people who were born in the 2000's can recognize. A musical legacy that transcends time and generations is the greatest achievement beyond any award or trophy. I believe BTS is in the category of the greats which is no small feat.
You never fail to entertain me!😂 I heard recently that the artists, that won the most awards the year before, get more time to perform. They thought they would be joining the military soon so they put on an extra special performance for Army. Then, the pandemic happened....their plans changed. If I am not mistaken, it took them six months to practice this performance. I am sure it was along with everything else they already had to do. Truly iconic performance. I am 54 years old. I have seen The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, The Foo Fighters, Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, etc. in concert. This performance is the coolest. Wish I was there in person.

I love BTS and watching their group performances while also appreciating their individual solo dance performances as each one was representing a Greek god and goddess, plus, the visual effects, the backup dancers, and seeing people riding horses were just so amazing that it felt as though I was watching a show performed by Cirque du Soleil.😂😊😍💜
BTS is actually the only South Korean and kpop act in history to be nominated at the Grammys. 💜 They are the ones that really deserve it, BTS has 5 nominations but yeah.. sadly they have been snubbed multiple times 😭 and when we say it is not just bc we are fans of them but fr bc they had a real impact. like wdym Dynamite and Butter didn’t win for best pop duo / group performance knowing their performance was literally the best one and the song was at the top of the top .. makes no sense 😭 but it’s not surprising considering they are known for being the Scammys Anyways, all the members submitted their projects but I have to say that this year I feel that they really snubbed Jungkook bc that man had the impact , popularity and recognition of quality with Golden and Standing Next To You especially should have gotten nominated for best solo performance. EXPLANATION. Dionysus is the g.od of excess. So they visually portray that theme majestically and masterfully. Others have mentioned..
Yes, this dance was the last dance of their long performance. And it was their hardest choreography to date. Jumping off of the set. The in sync hand and upper body choreography twice was brilliant. No mistakes!! The song was very long. So their endurance to the end is admirable. Dionysus was the g.od of wine and food and celebrating and feasting and partying. The boys did themselves proud. Note. No animals were harmed. They filmed that part with no audience and no sound and then ahowed the film to the audience. Note. BTS did award shows every year starting in 2013. So then watch every year consecutively to see how they got better and better. This was the last big one for everyone. Covid hit. So everyone filmed their performance to be shown on TV. Nothing was as big as this ever. But BTS and their creators really became creative, and I love what they did on the covid years, too. Don't miss a year. Enjoy. A funny thing. They did perform this song live again. One set person forgot to put Jimin's chair up on the table at the very end, so he had to pretend he was sitting. Then, duh, the guy remembered and slid it on under Jimin's butt. There is a video of the mistake. But of course, Jimin handled it so professionally that no one noticed except the side cameraman.

They also performed at the MAMA award shows. 2015 was especially good. They did a boy band battle. And one person's performance might literally make you faint. No spoilers from me.

Personally I found it far funnier that only from what we saw Jimin and Namjoon were live in their intro for the song but Namjoon nearly hurt himself badly.
They are celebrating a "mad artist".
This performance took 3 months to prepare. It was going to be their last big award show performance before their world tour and enlisting in the military so they went all out. But then the pandemic happened in 2020 and all their plans changed.

BTS is a 5 time Grammy nominated. And yes the Grammys do snub BTS. They use them as clout. It's quite disappointing how the Grammys do our 7 Angels.
The Grammys are to BTS what MAMA is to SM artists with SOTY. With all the amazing SM songs over the year (including monster hits like Growl and Gee), no SM song won SOTY till this year (AESPA.)

When I saw Jimin in his solo performance I was absolutely captivated and when I found out that he was the only one who did it live in front of the audience I appreciated it even more, he is a beauty that has never been seen on a kpop stage. I love Jimin, he`s so talented and unique
They are all talented. Jimin’s is the only one that could have been done in person except for maybe V’s. The others would have taken too much time to set up, etc. They would have had to set up all that water and JK would have had to be stripped out if wet leather and hair dried… JHope and lasers could not have been done with that crowd. Jimin did great and should be commended, BUT his wasn’t mint under cloth and doing his performance. It isn’t a matter of the others not being able to do it live as far as talent. It is all about logistics.

A lot of things could have been a disaster considering the cloth that he had to work with... not to mention he did a flip with the cloth. He could've just recorded it too as It's not easy. He deserves to be praised. To do such a performance live was a very brave move. But I agree, every member is equally talented. I love them all.

I became an ARMY shortly before their Persona album dropped and I ended up watching this live through one of the channels airing the show and even THAT was incredible, I can't imagine actually BEING THERE. I was SO happy to see it start off with RM performing Persona because I'd wanted to see that performed live when I watched the Persona MV when it dropped. But this whole award performance was MIND BLOWING. ARMY twitter was in chaos with each new thing the guys did. I was NOT expecting any of it but they did so phenomenally. I've watched this award show on my own and in reactions SO many times lol.
But just wanted to add that, I've been watching your reactions for a bit, love your energy, you're very positive and adorable and you're really fun to watch in these reactions. 💜

MMA 2019 is huge in budget, scenery, scale, everything, but they never slacked before neither after. They always put their all in every shows even when they were rookie! Western performances look so tiny and dull in comparison...

If you are confused about the outfit changes or how Jungkook got dry, not all of it was live.
I’m pretty sure the first part of RM’s intro while he was in the classroom was prerecorded, the Mikrokosmos performance was definitely prerecorded (which is also how they added all those visual effects) and so was Jungkook’s dance solo.
^ on Jungkook, can’t remember if it was this one or another award show but I think he did do the dance live for the fans, but he was already dressed for the next dance and there was no water - he just danced along to the prerecorded video that was also playing overhead.
The only ones live for the solo intro were Jimin and Namjoon and Namjoon did not hit the stage but almost were it would have very much hurt.
But JK (and the others I think) did dance - just not in water.

I think because the show was live on tv, they added effects real time that that you could see at home. Someone mentioned they also used drones and fog. Epic. Enjoy Bts More has this with correct subtitles. This performance is the reason she created her channel, to put subs on. She has many live performances. Ty Peachy.
A lot was pre-recorded like RM in the classroom for Persona, Mikrokosmos and most of the solo intros for Dionysus (Jimin And Namjoon were live as we saw the others were live in a version we did not see) and naturally the horses.

i understand that the first part of Dionysus with the horses was filmed the previous day with no music, noise or audience so that the horses were not traumatised - then they cut to the boys on stage for the performance.

Re: the oh whoa whoa ad libs - one of the BEST things about live performances is that the adlibs are more forward in the mix and they sound sooooooo good. I can't tell you how many adlibs I never heard in the track, and then discovered by watching live performances. The one I'm obsessing over at the moment is JK's adlibs in I'm Fine, in the PTD concert on Dis+. I have watched it so many times, both cuz the entire performance is so hype, but also because of those adlibs!!!!

Scammy's didn't nominate BTS this year because they're in the military - so Scammy's can't have them perform for views. You have to be nominated to perform so they've only been nominating them for them to show up and perform but have no intention of giving them an award.
It would have been very fair to nominate Namjoon for "Right Place, Wrong Person" - which is according to most important critics one of the best albums this year - but you are absolutly right:
He would not have won but his performance would have attrackted people to view the Grammy's - and since he is serving the later was not possible.
(and I'm glad he can not be there).

To be fair the most views are usually pulled by the maknaeline and Jin had not put out new music.
Hobi did put out new music but it was more of a soundtrack and not charting the way Scammies like and also in Korean.
There is a chance that they will get nominated again in 2026 - since a new album is likely to be put out in late in 2025 at the earliest by the whole group (HYYH project probably) - which is too late for 2025.
(and they are not going to nominate Jin even as he deserves it)
I do believe they will eventually earn the Grammy - but it will take time to break the resistance. by that time I'm not sure how much the members will be interested in it other than a "been there, done that" for their list.
@@ruthfischer7615 I personally don't put much value on a Grammy since it's been a 'who's who' award for over 20 years now and more about who can grease their (the voting member's) palms more. If BTS ever get one (as a group or individually) I'll be happy for them for achieving another milestone. But I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it. The biggest reward for BTS is people listen to their music, go to their concerts and appreciate them.
Side Note - Queen never won a Grammy and they have some of the most iconic music in history that even people who were born in the 2000's can recognize. A musical legacy that transcends time and generations is the greatest achievement beyond any award or trophy. I believe BTS is in the category of the greats which is no small feat.

You never fail to entertain me!😂 I heard recently that the artists, that won the most awards the year before, get more time to perform. They thought they would be joining the military soon so they put on an extra special performance for Army. Then, the pandemic happened....their plans changed. If I am not mistaken, it took them six months to practice this performance. I am sure it was along with everything else they already had to do. Truly iconic performance. I am 54 years old. I have seen The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, The Foo Fighters, Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, etc. in concert. This performance is the coolest. Wish I was there in person.
I had to literally LOL when you got to the Dionysus portion of the vid, and you said that you thought that you had already reacted to that portion. All I could do was cackle outloud and think, "No, you didn't. Just wait."
