Elvin, it's hard for people to understand, but no one understands a song better than the creator of it. In most instances, bands have a leader who has a clear vision. A great musician supports the song by trusting the songwriter's direction. Jimmy's not a control freak, he's just more aware of what the song should sound like than anyone else. I've followed Jimmy for years. He's a very sweet, humble guy.
could it be that the players play well, but Jimmy had specific interpretations of his own work and had to communicate the differences from what the players brought to the table?. It's part of the process. Jimmy is the real deal and that comes from not compromising.
