- Today, I listened to Floor Jansen's cover of Alone by Heart for the first time. Check out the full video and leave your thoughts in the comments!
Floor Jansen is the lead singer of Nightwish and upon all my Nightwish reactions, I wonder how much more she can impress me with her vocals. She is an incredible singer and this cover proves to be one of the best covers of this song there is right now. Check out all my other Nightwish reactions where I continue to react to as many of their songs as I can! I love reacting to Nightwish and this video continues that journey. Like other music reaction channels, I try to give my own input into the song, but it is too hard when you're mesmerized this much!

Floor deserves it!
Give Floor a song, does not matter which genre and she nails it. At school (classical education conservatorium and later Rock Academy) we "hated" her for that hahahaha. If I was singing with her , I had to work much harder ....she does it like it's nothing. She has so many kind of voices and she has so much power. Her lungs are Iron made and her vocal cords are golden. Floor is one of a kind and also a beautiful person inside.She was always pretty shy, which sounds crazy :) But a warm, sweet woman who definitely knows what she wants. We are proud Floor!!!! Also, check out her performances on Beste Zangers 2019. A Dutch TV show where a group of the best singers sing songs to each other. On that show, no one knows who Floor is. We get to hear Floor sing many styles & languages & watch the faces of the singers on the show!

I also love Floor singing her version. Hearts was rock from the start. Floor sings it in a romantic serenading, loving way. As an ex dancer i could headbang it with Heart but with Floor it would be a romantic dance like the rumba. Now im just a heavily tattoo'd retired dancer, blazin up chillin out to anything from Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Heart, Def Leppard to Nightwish. I always listen to Nightwish at Wacken daily. Ive seen Nightwish 4 times live Tarja, Anette and Floor. By far Floor is Nightwish the best female vocalist ever. A total Goddess and Valykrie. If you think this is great, Phantom of the Opera, Floor and Henk Port will blow your mind 🤘
There are some Nightwish songs that always gives me goosebumps. Dead boys poem, Sleeping Sun, While your lips are still red (Marko in the lead) And of course the amazing The greatest show on earth. But hold that one back until you've listen to more Nightwish songs

He is actually Sir Joost van de Broek as he was honoured with a knighthood in Holland. He was the keyboard player in Floor's first band After Forever which she joined at 16.
Floor is the queen, I want to see your mind blown so here goes, "Song of Myself", & "Ghost River" both from the Wacken 2013 show with 82,000 fans .
I cannot wait to listen to more of that concert form them
She sang this with pure raw emotion and it surpassed Heart's version in my opnion

Yeah, I hear you. That's pretty damn close as a toss up, yes? At this point I don't think it's a matter of whose or which version is better. It''s just a matter of acknowledging that this is a STUNNING cover and Floor *absolutely* plays in the same league as Ann.
Hi The guy playing the piano is Joost her band mate of After Forever. He is also helping Floor with her solo album.
Beste zangers is already mentioned by someone. She doing a great cover of Lady Gaga's shallow there, not to mention the Phantom of the opera with the Dutch phantom Henk Poort. All her songs of all episodes are worth watching as Floor never dissapoints, but those two are songs everyone knows at least. Loved your reaction and going to sub for more of this 😊

That’s the reason you have to go for her songs of „Beste Zangers 2019“ where she sings songs of the others - a little bit at her own... and don’t forget the Nightwish song „Sleeping Sun“ in Tampere 2015...
You should indeed listen to Floor taking over ownership of Let it go. And she’s said there are more covers on the way...

Yes, she is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and much more. You should check out Dead boy's poem, or Devil and the deep dark ocean, Slaying the dreamer etc. At that Buenos Aires concert you will get the Goddess part.

I love the voice of Floor, but the song of Heart is also a cover of the song of the band I-Ten from the album "Taking a cold look" by 1983 (Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg). Therefore, the cover of the Wilson sisters is for me the best cover of "Alone".

Look at the distance she is from the mike, and yet her power comes through. Apparently it's a £6K mike, but you still get the impression she is nowhere near full throttle. As you say, effortless.
Edit. Check Floor going full opera with her rendition of O Mio Babbino Caro. She has stated on numerous occaisons that, while she can sing straight opera, she much prefers to put her own stamp in it, a la 'Floorstyle'. Yet more evidence of her incredible versatility.

I wish people would stop saying the this is a copy of Hearts song as Hearts is already a copy of the original (check this on google)
It all comes down to abdominal control. Singing while sitting down is another step that will show you if a singer is technically good. I think Henk Poort inspired her when he did "Sound of Silence" in his Beste Zangers performance. Sitting and not even shrugging the shoulders when belting out the big notes. That's quality.
She was singing sitting down before that, near the end of Poet @ Wembley is a great example, she is hitting some sublime notes sitting down, then stands up and goes even further.
She is world class, in every way!
Floor probably recorded this standing somewhere else. Then she re-enacted it here for the video.
I actually don't believe so. I think she simply did many takes and they cut it together on top of the best vocal take. Check the black&white footage parts, there everything syncs up perfectly.
I agree and exactly as she did with the song from Frozen. That doesn't make her performance less good, quite the opposite. She's doing her very best for her fans, giving us her best vocals and wrapping it up with artistic expression. She's amazing and wise.
I am almost 100% sure she sang it as we saw her in this clip. We know she can do it sitting, look at the acoustic version of “Where’s the heart” for example.
@@pietdegeling4696 I don't dispute that she can sing like an angel in whatever position she like but I am 100% sure that the vocals was pre recorded. She does a good job in the video but the lip sync is off a few times and you can also clearly see that she's not singing (muscle tension, deep breathing)
Regarding "Where's the heart" - she's at a high chair wich gives her a great position for her instrument, almost like standing. The sitting position in this video is awful for singing.
Again, pre recording isn't cheating - it's just smart. I would make the same choice.
@@veronicaue180 perhaps a question for her Friday Fan Day 1 minute questions. And i never implied anywhere that you or the starter of this question don’t think she can not sing. But i think she can sing this in the position you saw in the video.
And believe me, lip sync in the video, look at almost all of the NightWish video’s out there, also there you see almost never a 100% accurate lip-sync. Meaning she never sings live in their live-concerts?

If you want to get a real taste for Floor's skill set then try Beste Zangers 2019 where each week one of the 8 professional vocalists are honored and the other sing a song of theirs or one important to them. Well Floor sing a Aria in German, Folk song in Dutch, Salsa song in Spanish, Pop song (Lady GaGa's Shallow) in English and also does a duet of Phantom of the Opera. Most versatile female vocalist there is period!!!!
the tempo is slow, but Floor's singing is flawless as usual.
This is actually a cover of a cover, heart were not the original composers or recording artists for this song and this maybe herecy to some but Floor just blows Ann Wilson into the weeds
