Jeanne Snowden is a very sweet woman, and, actually, a well-trained musician. A graduate of Berklee School of Music. I did some publicity work for her about ten years ago. She still sends me Xmas cards and birthday greetings... I am also well acquainted with her son, Andres Wilson, who is a fine guitar player, and was friendly with her late mother, Virginia. Jeanne is not too fond of Irwin. She felt he exploited her in the writing of his book.
I used to have this show on dvd when it came out. I lost it eventually because every time i showed it to someone they borrowed it to show their friends. I wish there would be new episodes.
Well I never really enjoyed Frank Zappa. I think that he was pretty much just alt Rock , maybe. But not outsider. It has to have that certain something... it doesnt mean its bad or unpleasant sounding either.
Well, depending of what you consider an outsider. What is a musical outsider? A person or group of people that is... 1. Outside of the music business 2. Outside of current mass society trends 3. Outside of disciplined musical trainning of any kind 4. Outside of a certain cultural symbolic/aesthetic paradigm If outside means detached from all the points above then there is no such thing as outside music. None of the prospects showed in the video qualify for the term.
Hello, if you're interested check out the guy called Jos Steen. A Belgian musician, Unfortunately he died some years ago. What a loss An absolute must. I got tapes of the different groupswe played in. One of them was "De Kollektieve Zelfmoord" better known as "The Collective Suicide"...
I enjoy outsider music. Is there such a thing as outsider music that still has conventional standards of beauty in melodic tone and structure, though? Because I like to hear someone who sings maybe what is standard, but puts a new spin on it.
I had a black lady co worker who had to call vendors in Canada, she said they were idiots, and couldn't understand her. I'm not sure what the deal was.
As a musician I can see trying to make something out of what a child bang on a piano or maybe the do not keep the beat well and some of the stuff sounds interesting enough it could be used but sheesh this stuff was hard to listen to it was not at least nice but different. It was more of a they need to learn more type of deal.
the less self aware it seems the more freedom & originality; case zero creative, prior cutnpaste editing self censorship. current intelligence increase or AI "gnothi se auton" may reduce any freewill in self to sets of known desire engrams internally under one's self control and manipulation. Freewill is therefore a level of ignorance of how we're wired
Come on guys, I like this program but I'm a musician and calling this outsider music is not completely accurate... this is straightforward amateur pseudo folk wachamacallit... There is a lot of professional outsider music like, to mention one of the greatests, Frank Zappa, self taught, countercultural, and very idiosincratic.
Soo, from what I gather.. "Outsider Music" is just horrible bullshit that you know damn well is horrible, but say you like it anyway.. Simply to be a pretentious hipster..?
I dont remember where I saw this but apparently she was upset with the person (the cameraman I think) who uploaded her work to the net because she didn't think people were taking her message seriously. So that would explain why her vids are so rare. Maybe the person backed off to reapect her wishes.

@Adi Krieg Loosen up you self-righteous, self-important social justice warrior.
@Adi Krieg Send your fascist fantasy police to silence me once you emerge from your safe space on 4-chan or Fox. Ideology is your addiction...
He's sarcastic.
6:19 I’m gonna say that this is more art than anything Andy Warhol ever did past the can of soup.
It’s just music. Nothing Outsider about it.

Really want to know what clip at the 1 minute mark is from.
Well I never really enjoyed Frank Zappa. I think that he was pretty much just alt Rock , maybe. But not outsider. It has to have that certain something... it doesnt mean its bad or unpleasant sounding either.
Meade Music There’s old interview segments of Zappa showing TV hosts how to play the bicycle. He’s an Avant-Garde progenitor.
@@alanheyes694 "Avant-garde" is what happens when an artist is aware they're being weird. Outsider artists usually think they're making normal art.
well, now "in canada" is in my head, won't get out either
@PlasmateIncognito here’s your friendly 10 year reminder of IN CANADAAAAA!
The Shaggs

What do they mean "weird"?
If I play music in a lawn chair on my porch, is that outsider music?
Omg. This has given me permission to be myself. Look out world!
Some of these crazy ass people in the video making 'outsider music' are on TH-cam lol! I finally have a name for this mess I keep finding.
