I found an even easier way to kill them in my game! You have to use a ship called 'Asgard', with it you can just point toward K and press space, works every time!
I got to try that! I haven't gotten the Asgard yet, but have everything set up to build it! Will test with Syn too just to compare it with Ody destroyer
@@resyelgaming Odysseus is specced more for glass cannon DPS and anti-fighter cover with its 18 M turrets (counting the Jian on top, though Arc turret slowing can also be really good at the cost of one top-facing turret), and player exploitation as you've shown here - Rattlesnake kills a K even faster, but Odysseus has the range kiting option if you're facing a tough encounter (just plank reverse (somewhat) perpendicular to the closest K's forward direction using its forward speed to land shots from the side, and watch your flanks for incoming destroyers). For capital-killing there's nothing even close to the Asgard. Would like to try a full plasma Raptor though... PAR M Plasma Turrets of course, since they wouldn't need ARG turn rates, but the PAR DPS, tankiness and range would be handy.
@@gessie I'll have to try the Odysseus (I just rescued one from a Xenon sector but have not done much with it yet)... I've been setting up "gate blockade" fleets with an Asgard and 8-12 Osaka's... they seem to be able to knock out anything the Xenon send at me in Savage Spur II (I kicked them out a while back with a couple Asgards and they're salty about it). The thing I like most about that setup is that the Osaka's seem to be able to survive better than other L's I've used (and not take a lot of turret/engine damage) and still are pretty good at S/M control (while the Asgard can handle even 8 K's and an I in just a couple minutes as long as I'm flying her).
Using plasma turrets in all L slots would have helped a lot. With an Ody using fast fighters for additional DPS might be a good idea too. If you want to add even more pepper, you can park a gun boat on the Ody, idealy a Jian, fitted with plasma towers and move so that these can shoot the target too. The classic version of that great destroyer might be also a little more maneuverable.
Thanks, I will definitly try that and change L slots to plasma! Yeah an Jian would be a lot better to park on it. I believe I had a Cobra parked on this one, since I used this destroyer + 2 Cobra for boarding. Maybe the classic version is a bit more maneuverable, but I can't stand the design on it haha
on Odysseus you need to put a L-class turret plasma, shoots slowly but hurts, to fight K or attack stations. and their turrets are ordered to attack my target, then when choosing an engine or turret, all fire will be concentrated in one place. in general, on the side of K it is easier to destroy two turrets, if you start from the rear with engines. from the front, shoot everything there is by turning on the reverse. and do not approach the consideration closer than 5.5 km. hope the translation was clear)
how did you not get hit by his main guns? Two days ago I was in a frigate and I tried avoiding those shots, no chance and I was quite far away. So I guess, it is just flying in a straight line helps more and it does not lead its shots?
The best way to approach is directly from behind. There's a blind spot of it's main guns right behind it, so you're safe there. Drift in with high speed and try to stop close behind it, then blow up its engines so that it can't turn or do anything (may need to watch out for it main guns when you hit the engines). The main gun did hit me a couple of times, so if I was in a frigate I would probably blow up. With a destroyer you can snipe the engine from 8km distance and easily sit back and enjoy the fireworks
Yea from behind... but you also need to be careful when a K blows up it'll strip all the turrets from the front of a lot of L's (depending on how well shielded they are) if you're that close.
If she is by herself, get in a fighter and sit on top of it. work around and disable the engines, don't get near the plasma turrets or shoot at in until you are in position. Take your time and a heavy fighter with any weapoons can do this. (i did it in a hvy fighter with 4 pews pews, no issues) Work around the ship, killing turrets when you Identify them. Do the side ones one at a time and keep an eye on the engines. Don't let them become operational once you wreck them and if you see them starting to look repaired but not running, unrepair them. Eventually work to the belly of the ship and stay below the firing arc's of the plasma turrets.. Once the ship is disabled call in a ship with any plasma weapons you have. It won't be able to fire at it or move so it's basically going to die once heavy weapons start pounding it.. when you hear that explosion warning, Turbo boost out away from it. works every time as long as you keep your head and work slow.
Yeah, the Ks are hard to beat at the start, but gets a lot easier when you get better ships and experience. The explosion is from the mod X4 Fire and Smoke. You can find it in steam workshop
@@resyelgaming Syns will just melt K's but are weak against fighters if you go for an anti-capital build. Also you can build Syns only if you are well into the game while you get an Ody for free right from start if you are wiling to visit a Xenon sector. ;-) I think you can also upgrade the Plasma turrets with the T1 upgrade that gives up to 50% damage at the cost of faster overheating, but I've read somewhere that turrets can't overheat, so it might give a lot of damage for free. I'm currently transitioning from destroyer fleets to carrier groups. If you've ever destroyed a Khaak hive you may understand why. ;-) A simple carrier costs about the same as a simple Ody-E. If you are far enough to produce own ships, you can also mass produce fighters and clouds of fighters are effective against everything. You just have to be out of sector when attacking stations. A swarm of fast Moreyas with the right equipment will destroy a station in like 2 minutes with no or only minor losses that way while destroyers just suck. The AI moves constantly within firing range of the station, so you will lose destroyers if you don't stare at the map for the whole battle. While in sector they also get stuck or move arround without shooting because the line of fire is blocked by trash from destroyed station parts.
The ship Odysseus E's loadout is: 3xL Plasma, 6x M Pulse. The 2 other ships are Cobra with 4x M Pulse. I used this setup mostly for boarding, where I used the 2 other Cobras to send boarding party to the ship I was boarding. Was quite a fun way to board!
Asgard kills them in 3 or 4 seconds... the main guns of that beast are absolute monsters, too bad the AI (even 5 star) is too stupid to use them. I got an achievement for killing a Xenon S with the main guns... something like "the ridiculous overkill award". I just happened to be firing and he flew through the beam - turned to hot vapor instantly (was pretty funny).
haha I didn't know of that achievment, got to try to get it too! Asgard is insane, one shot everything, including I with an upgrade to the main gun. Yeah, AI is not good with it. I usually grab the wheel from the AI when shit gets bad.
So did are the massive, turrets supposed to be able to shoot from the complete fucking opposite side of the ship? Is this something that needs to be batched. Because A SINGLE FUCKING k has carved a path through 8 systems and it doesn't matter what I do, it's turrets will chew through everything, including it's own vessel, to destroy whatever it pleases.
I had to save the other faction sectors multiple times cos of a K carving through their sectors. For this reason I have 2-3 Syn destroyers I send after them to destroy the K's. The only safe spot to destroy them is right behind them as I position myself in the video. Then you can destroy them with less optimal ship build like the one I use here. You can also destroy it easier when it's busy attacking a station. Just stand in distant and destroy it.
