*@The Sea and Sky Chronicles:* Naw, don't say that. It's those that show emotion that, I believe, are grown. Have you heard of this anime by the name of Battle Athletes Victory? There's a part in this anime where a character is trying to better herself athletically but she can't seem to pass other characters; and she realizes that what makes her different than the others is that the others actually show emotion. Being emotionally stunted isn't a good thing. Even for guys. So the term "act like a man" isn't a good thing. And that song "Big Girls Don't Cry" isn't good either. I think the saddest part of this episode is when Tasuki is denying the fact that Nuiko's dead, and then he finally breaks down and cries. He's always acting so strong and confident, (no matter how stupid) so when he finally starts crying... it just breaks me inside.
Perhaps what makes his death even more painful is when you see their reactions and how they deal with it. I remembered how Jiraiya and Itachi's death affected Naruto and Sasuke. Nuriko was the only one to get a "Real World" scene. The others had something in the book to keep them there but Nuriko and Tamahome were free to do as the pleased, only Nuriko was the one to lose in the end. SUCKS!
Welp, that's life. You can't get everything you want, and Nuriko knew that. I do agree that he or Tamahome can really end up with Miaka. However, Miaka was super duper attached to Tamahome, so Nuriko doesn't have much of a chance. Fun fact, the "Real World" scene was a tribute to Nuriko from the animators, as stated by Yuu Watase herself. Watase then stated that she wished she could have added that in the Manga!
Nuriko has attachments to the real world; he has a loving rich family in the capital city. In ova they went to his home; his brother especially adores him and can't stop immersing in his loss. tamahome is the only one, (apart from chichiri the monk) without any attachments to his world, after suboshi slaughtered every1 in his family. This episode just kills me everytime. And the way Tasuki reacts reminds me everytime why I adore him and why he is the best "hot headed red-haired" anime guy ever. He has so much emotion. Nuriko is one of the most caring characters here he was like a big brother to Tamahome I can’t believe he died at least hes in peace with this younger sister now. (Its 2023 but best anime)
So nuriko really did want to be the man he was born to be. He died the death any warrior, or any era would desire, as a true hero, selfless. His death reminds me of that Rurouni Kenshin quote from the Battousai "so you choose pride over life a a samurai should", except Nuriko, as all the suzaku seven do, they choose love over their own life a a warrior, because true love holds it all together. RIP my fav anime character!
This is the saddest moment in anime history. That scene where Miaka denies Nuriko's death was amazing. But I don't understand why he had to die, wasn't Tamahome family enough of an encouragement for Miaka to fight? Why does the 7 warriors have to suffer this fate? It's not fair. I don't want anyone else to die... I know this is wishful thinking but still I don't understand why.
TimelessGap2 I ask myself the same questions. And why am I even rewatching this series despite knowing the injustices? I can't help it. Its still special to me. This is still one of the first anime I watched which serves as my gateway in getting hooked with anime.
Well, it's needed for the story. They needed more conflict for the story and our cast. Celestial warriors are MEANT to be sacrifices for the priestess. They were only assigned that role and protect and die for the priestess. Yeah, this is one of the saddest scenes in anime (in my opinion). His death just hits too hard, especially when seeing everyone's reactions to it.
Nuriko fell for miaka but it will forever be his secret. Out of the 7 chichiri, mitsukake and chiriko are the only ones who treat her as their priestess
dolly l Chichiri is a monk, which, in ancient China, was suppose to restrain all urges. Chiriko is only thirteen; he doesn't even know what love IS. Mitsukake still loves Shoko, and he has no room in his heart for anyone else. It is impossible for them to love anyone.
All the characters... denied his death... even “flamely boi” started crying... this shows does a good job making you love this man so much.. this is my fifth time watching this scene and I’m dying
My heart broke twice today... Nuriko is my 2nd fave character here. First watched this way back, watched it again today, and I'm still bawling like a kid when he died. Though I understand this scene better now than before. I could tell that Nuriko was ready to pass on because he's done his life's mission and he finally set himself free. Awww, Tasuki has always been my favorite smug, hot-headed badboy but his emotions are raw. It breaks me to see someone so tough let his emotions flow. 😭💔
He indirectly confessed to her. So, he didn't really know that Miaka knows that he loves her. Meaning, he died before directly confessing to her. It makes the story more tragic and feel pity for Nuriko. :')
Out of a hundred times I've watch this series, I was only able to watch this episode three times. I always skipped this part, literally my first childhood heartbreak ever. 😭😭😭
I cant help but cry when Nuriko died. He's always been the good friend of everyone specially of Miaka. He's one anime character il really remember always. :-)
Is it weird that I feel more sorry for Ashtaire? I mean, Nuriko had friends to crowd around them and comfort them. Ashtaire was saved by a man who beat the shit out of him with a whip and couldn't give less of a damn that he died. Only Sui seemed concerned at all about him. Even Yui was all like "Oh hi Nagkato, doing some BDSM with your werewolf sex slave? Cool. Saw Tamahome today. Remember when you whipped him and I flipped the fuck out?" Amboshi seemed to care for a split second, but it turned out to be more about the McGuffin.
***** Suboshi did, but it seemed to be more about them not doing anything to beat the Suzaku characters to the treasure they both sought. I will say that Nuriko can rock a suit. But yeah, Astaire was way more sympathetic.
Even though he's dying, Nuriko gave everything he has to move that rock. He served and helped Miaka and his friends 'til the very end. :'( We'll miss you Nuriko!!!
Not only this episode taught us how to deal with a dear one's loss and how death is inevitable ... but also to accept a person as a person but not by their gender... damn that's deep... watching this after 15 yrs ... and really getting a whole new perspective to the story..
Poor Mitsukake being blamed everytime someone dies haha, its the plot guys someone has to die to have DRAMA, blame Miyaka for persisiting that they should go to the shrine immediately thus Nuriko went to it ALONE. Also chichiri should have teleported to the smoke signal even if it means risking for them to be discovered by Nakago. Poor Doctor being blamed hahaha

Well, it's needed for the story. They needed more conflict for the story and our cast.
Celestial warriors are MEANT to be sacrifices for the priestess. They were only assigned that role and protect and die for the priestess.
Yeah, this is one of the saddest scenes in anime (in my opinion). His death just hits too hard, especially when seeing everyone's reactions to it.
..even though I've already watched this, it is so sad when noriko died he's one of my fave in this series..
😭😭😭😭😭😭
He was just starting to really develop as a character and he just had to be killed off😭😭😭😭😭😭
Rest in peace nuriko 💔 wish he could've been in the anime till the end.
BoredPlayz im saying the three sees her as a priestess more than the others who was close buddy2x to her,i know about the three
omgg my heart breaks all the more seeing nuriko amd miaka in a parallel universe!!! 😢😢😢
Mikatsuki's speech at the end 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That part always gets me 😢
I've watched this when i was a kid, it suddenly got recommended i watched it again. Really miss this show
Even though this is like my 100th time watching this, it still gets me every time😭😭
"grieve as much as you need to, but keep moving forward." -mitsukake
I'M CRYING SO FREAKING HARD RIGHT NOW. TEARS THAT NEVER SLIM DOWN. AAAAHHH... LET ME CRY ALONE.
M...me too (sniffle) why did he have to die he was one of the only character I really do like (sob)
Bye its been 5 years and i'm still grieving over this
Why would they kill of one of the best characters, this really effects the show for me
All the characters... denied his death... even “flamely boi” started crying... this shows does a good job making you love this man so much.. this is my fifth time watching this scene and I’m dying
I will miss Nuriko
My heart broke twice today...
Nuriko is my 2nd fave character here. First watched this way back, watched it again today, and I'm still bawling like a kid when he died. Though I understand this scene better now than before. I could tell that Nuriko was ready to pass on because he's done his life's mission and he finally set himself free.
Awww, Tasuki has always been my favorite smug, hot-headed badboy but his emotions are raw. It breaks me to see someone so tough let his emotions flow.
😭💔
I can not believe he died. Why did it have to happen after he confesses his love for Miaka? :(
Yeah. :(
He indirectly confessed to her. So, he didn't really know that Miaka knows that he loves her.
Meaning, he died before directly confessing to her. It makes the story more tragic and feel pity for Nuriko. :')
Oooh tasuki’s reaction is so cute 😭
He is kindhearted..
Mitsukakie speech at the end ...😭😭💔💔
The hardest episode✋🏻💔
I'm leaving this comment here and hopefully someone will remind me of this masterpiece some day 💜
R. I. P Nuriko 😭
Out of a hundred times I've watch this series, I was only able to watch this episode three times. I always skipped this part, literally my first childhood heartbreak ever. 😭😭😭
I am 33 years old..and watching this again still made me cry
Facts!!!
Bingewatching Fushigi Yugi on 20 February 2023. I cried in this episode than Tamahome’s family 😭😭😭
He was my favorite character !
I love it how Tasuki acts so tough then breaks into tears. So adorable.
I've watched this anime so many times but whenever I watch this episode it always kills me inside😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I cant help but cry when Nuriko died. He's always been the good friend of everyone specially of Miaka. He's one anime character il really remember always. :-)
I love Nuriko so much PLEASE COME BACK TO LIFE OR SOMETHING. ❤
This is the saddest Episode in the whole story :'(
I cried so much and i somehow miss him too.
I cried over Nuriko death so hard like he was a person a friend I well never forget him💖
Watched this almost 10 years ago, but I'm still crying. T_T
the only anime I watched that could make me cry so much , Fushigi Yuugi is the best ! thanks for uploang
This episode makes me cry a lot.I relate a lot with nuriko
Most painful death in the whole series. Even more hurting than Yurien's death.
Gemmarose9 I don't think you got your point across. You need more exclamation marks.
Noriko you taught me the real meaning of love and friendship THANK U PURESOUL
Man this is just as sad as Jiraiya's death. Why do I keep watching emotional anime!?! So sad 😢
This is where everybody shed tears. Nuriko's character song, Kaze No Uta is beautiful.
Still crying like a river while watching this in 2021 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Noriko 😭😭😭😭🕊
Nuriko will always bring the same feelings , it's been more than 20 years that I saw it. But I still cannot stop crying...
Even though he's dying, Nuriko gave everything he has to move that rock. He served and helped Miaka and his friends 'til the very end. :'( We'll miss you Nuriko!!!
Me previous episode: My heart is beating for Nuriko... is this love?
God: pfffhhhh
Not only this episode taught us how to deal with a dear one's loss and how death is inevitable ... but also to accept a person as a person but not by their gender... damn that's deep... watching this after 15 yrs ... and really getting a whole new perspective to the story..
This hit me in the feels so hard
Poor Mitsukake being blamed everytime someone dies haha, its the plot guys someone has to die to have DRAMA, blame Miyaka for persisiting that they should go to the shrine immediately thus Nuriko went to it ALONE. Also chichiri should have teleported to the smoke signal even if it means risking for them to be discovered by Nakago. Poor Doctor being blamed hahaha
Why he was the most funniest person in the whole group why first the family and no him!😭😭😭😢
Cause, they needed conflict for our cast to handle. :')
When I was watching this scene 20 years ago, I couldn't stop crying. Now I still can't stop crying.
You know Nuriko is buried in snow so if the snow melts his body will be seen
I am devastated
I LOVE NURIKO SOO MUCH, HE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!!!!
JUST WHYYYYYY
WHHHHYYYYY NURIKO, WHY YOU DIED!!!!!
I LITERALLY CRIED
4:29 when Nuriko jumped I was like no no Ashtare don't even think about it NO!! my heart got broken I stayed in my room crying 😭
