Thank you for this video. I am grateful for this to be finally coming into my life. Thank you to the Sacred Land Film Project for everything you all do. For all that came into being to make this video of wisdom come to us. The wisdom of this video, of the Pawnee People and of Winona LaDuke, and of the comments here, are stirring within me, and the wisdom of this story brings an aliveness into me that I have forgotten but now remember. This is VERY relevant with what is going on right now, as it has always been. I pray that our culture awakens, and that I awaken more deeply everyday, so that redemption and reparations can be made in every way possible.
This story is a precious reminder of what we have all lost from wherever we are indigenous to. The beans, squash, corn etc are living beings and they know where they belong and they will thrive there and will not thrive in alien lands. This is ancient wisdom brought forward for us to learn from.
This is a riveting video, that offers through the story of the Pawnee, that the Ancestral soul is deep and abiding, going into the earth to reside and flouish. The trust the Pawnee had in returning their seeds to Nebraska, into the hands of the white descendants of the settlers, shows that without redemption on both sides, true healing cannot take place. T'oyaks, Winona,
the seeds remember where they came from...so true on many levels...something so simplistic as a seed though very complex to consume...never forget where you come from your whakapapa (family tree) or land (whenua)...arohanui peace and light (Te Ao Marama).
Very touching video. You can see she is feeling so much emotion with the telling of the Pawnee Story. This story is not just illustrates the importance of redemption and food independence for the First Nations Peoples, but all people of all lands. Many of us are so far removed from our food that we lost our knowledge of how our food gets to our table and our role in securing that.
The US needs to apologise and there has to be redemption for the Indigenous people. They have suffered enough. It is time that recognise the wrong and it is time to start the healing process.
My hometown is Kearney, Nebraska and I currently live in Kearney. I wasn't a resident here when the Pawnee tribe returned, I wish I could have seen that. I myself am a Native American, Lakota from Pineridge. I was taken from my mother at nine months old and placed for adoption in Nebraska. Read my story in the book: Called Home: Lost Children of the Indian Adoption Projects. The white man has taken from me the chance to know my family. The white man has wronged the Native Americans in so many countless ways.
It’s a beautiful story, but I have a hard time being optimistic about the future. Under capitalism, the corporations want endless growth and profit which requires exploitation of humans in the form of labor and further extraction of resources from our beautiful planet.
I think we can Forgive The Settlers, who were the people, who had Built the Big Ships, while the Indians were regarded as being a more simple minded people, like wild animals, who were still living in Darkness, and in the Stone Age, in comparison, which did come across, as Ignorance, and Untrustworthiness. Why? Because Wild Animals are Dangerous. And the Indians were seen as being very Dangerous Animals. Their knowledge of the rest of the world was seen to be lacking. And their Music Was Simple. I think we can expect all the New People, to be willing, to forgive the Settlers for not being Impressed. Why? Because that is a very Natural thing. Indian Women Reject men all the time just because, of the clothing, they are wearing. But things were starting to look bad. And so they prayed to God for help, because they did have a Real Purpose, and they were under attack. And their Houses and their Barns were being burned to the ground, and so something had to be done. But in reality, they didn't need any help from God. The Early Settlers had the Guns. They had the Horses. They had the Wheel. They had the Saws, and the Axes, and the Hammers and Chisels, and Nails, and they had thick wool blankets and linens, and the means to make more of them, which really were their rightful due, because it took them thousands of years, to have built up, to that point, and so they deserve, to take some credit for all that, which had gone before them, as that was all part of their Culture of Things, while the Indians hadn't even gotten to the Bronze Age. And so I think we can forgiven the Early Settlers. But with the Help of some New Thought Leadership, which is so badly needed now, we can all see, how that might seem like an Unfair Advantage, to a lot of the Unrestrained New People, who may have been Wrongfully Indoctrinated, to feel Guilty about Immigrants, and Indians, who had been posing a very real threat, to everything we were building, for a very long time. And so this could be their way, of not wanting to look, at the way that might be perceived, in the Land of the Blind. Yes. And so we will put the question out there. Was it Wrong, back then, for us, to have cleared the land, of these very dangerous people, who were trying to burn our houses down? No. And was it fair, to herd them onto the reservations? Yes, it was. They were Kidnapping our Children, after killing Mom and Dad. But none of the Immigrants should ever be allowed to come here, in a state of angry rebellion. No. Why? That would disrupt the Network of Tiny Hairs in the Web of Relationships, which will need to be Restored, with No Apologies. In a Sane World, they would all have to become complete Pacifists, upon arrival, who would not fight back, even if they had been provoked, but they would quietly leave the vicinity in peace. Since When? 1991. The Turning. What does that mean? That means it is time to start supporting the New Leadership, not to continue on, with the Same Old Grievances, because that is Tearing Up the Web of Relationships, when it is time, to get down, with the Restoration. - T

Beautiful story.
I am so moved to hear this. Sending this to Chief of the Winnemem Wintu, and to the Wilkies in New Zealand.

It's so very true. Every word that she's saying...
the seeds remember where they came from...so true on many levels...something so simplistic as a seed though very complex to consume...never forget where you come from your whakapapa (family tree) or land (whenua)...arohanui peace and light (Te Ao Marama).
Te Korowhiti it’s actually just that the environmental conditions and quality of the soil are better for growing those types of food in Nebraska.
My Spirit Animal 🤗😍

Wish this story could be replicated across the Americas.
Wow!
beautiful Miigwech .... seeds❗

Winona drives an escalade

Well ain't this some gaslighting bullshit.
