I often liken the Parmelu to a necklace studded with precious gems, each with their unique sparkle. As the dancer initiates the bandish from the sum (first beat) he meticulously threads & sets each stone in place to finally reach Sum again as if tying the final knot to secure the necklace. What hopefully arises is a masterpiece ready to be admired, cherished & adorned through the eyes of the viewer.
