Tua footwork was fine he didn't need to emulate the "Peek a Boo " Footwork of Cus D Amato because if you observe old footage of fighters like Dwight Muhammad Qawi , Joe Frazier , Rodrigo Valdes , Tony Ayala Jr , Tua's Style was very similar to these earlier fighters. TUA had the excellent ability to display Head movement in the pocket to set up counter power punches like his left hook to body and rear Uppercuts .

The was in preparation for Holyfield v Tyson. Tua was the closest Holyfield could get to a sparring partner that could simulate Tyson.
Tysons management stayed ducking Tua. Tua's management wanted a Tyson v Tua fight. The only reason why Tysons management ducked Tua was because Tysons style was specifically designed to fight taller fighters on the inside.
Tua was an inside fighter and Tysons management knew it was a gamble.

Both Tyson and Tua are good fighters.
I reckon Tyson would have won by inches though. A good example of the different skill sets is the comparisons of their respective fights against Lewis.
Tua being an inside fighter found it difficult to fight Lewis on the inside because his style was tailored to fight inside.

The fight with Lewis and tua was the most boring championship fights I ever seen. I remember that fight live I was cheering for tua but tua was just too out of shape and big and was depending too much on his left hook to win the fight. Which is pretty much what was tuas main problem when he fought and especially when he got heavier in weight and didn’t train too hard. Lewis pretty much jabbed tua and ran around the ring the whole fight which is smart and tua just kept swinging and aiming for a knockout and kept missing

Actually a lot of those situations where you suggesting Tua is stuck ? Tua uses body positioning to jostle and push holy into certain positions … watch how Tua moves holy around Tua using his head to move him around the ring and walk him on to shots. A lot of those inside uppercuts Tua landed he walked holy onto them by turning holy using Tua head to push jostle turn etc
