Archmage is like the Beast Handlers. You never need them but they're always there for you to play with. edit: what i meant by this was that they aren't towers that you would ever think to use to solve a problem but if you ever want a cool tower to use then you have them available
Hard to believe we've been playing this game for 6 years. I've played plenty of games over my life and there's only a few I think are truly special. BTD 6 is absolutely one of them.
98 was probably an artifact of the alchemist changes. I think another commenter mentioned it but they used to be duration based, without an attack limit making buffing supper monkeys really good for dense rounds like that
Triple Darts as a starting tower is something that I don't tend to see that often and I don't know why. Seems like a relatively decent tower that you'll propably be able to build into since you'll usually start with dart monkey anyways.
Because they dont lead anywhere, if you want a spirit of the forest strat you use druid of the jungle as a starting tower, if you want a permacharge strat you use bionic boomerang as a starting tower and so on Not that many people use the plasma fan club
@@alejandrocoy5405 yeah that's a pretty good point. There is some point to towers that don't lead anywhere but you will end up saving a decent amount if what you build early on will work towards what your later defense will be
Going by the video's release date, the black border run was done shortly after version 3.0 released. Here's how the towers used have aged: OVERALL BUFFED: Robo Monkey: Large price cut, more attack speed, pierce buffed, can set priority on both arms, and can crit. Maim MOAB: Large price reduction, both a flat damage buff and a ceramic damage buff, and an attack speed buff. While the 4-2-0 crosspath wasn't used in this run, it did receive huge buffs as well. Archmage: The vast majority of its buffs were to the Dragon's Breath attack, which now corresponds to range buffs, applies a damage over time effect, lasts longer, goes through walls, and does more damage, but has reduced range. Outside of that, the bolt attack does more damage, Shimmer has more radius, and the whole tower got more MOAB bonus damage. It also got buffs to the middle crosspath, which wasn't used this run. Dark Knight: Large pierce buff, gained Darkshift ability, can prioritize camos, and does +1 damage to camos. However, its price was slightly nerfed, and knockback abilities slightly nerfed. Middle crosspath notably buffed, top crosspath a bit nerfed. Sun Avatar: Price buff and small pierce nerf. Indirectly speaking, the bottom crosspath got nerfed, while the middle one got buffed (ironic). Triple Darts: No direct changes. The bottom crosspath now increases projectile speed and lifespan. Tier 2 Village: No changes. OVERALL NERFED: Fighter Plane: Large damage reduction to the missiles. In exchange, they have higher pierce, get higher damage with the Exploding Pineapples upgrade, the darts are larger, and flight direction can be toggled. Early-game, this is a nerf, but late-game, this is a buff. This tower was obtained for early-game purposes, though, so I consider it a nerf. Gwendolin: Heat It Up no longer refreshes on towers that already have the buff, and both its time and shot requirements have been reworked, but overall, Heat It Up was majorly nerfed. In addition, her damage over time no longer stacks, and her Cocktail had a pierce reduction, refresh rate reduction, and immediately extinguishes when purples hit it. She did get some nice buffs, however, including a price reduction, the ability to target Cocktail, Cocktail now popping purples at level 16, a constant (separate) buff to fire-based towers, and huge buffs to Firestorm. Stronger Stimulant: Brew now runs out after 50 attacks, whereas before it would always last the full 12 seconds. This was a huge nerf, since it meant towers like Supers had way less brew uptime. Additionally, Stronger Stimulant no longer applies range buffs twice, there is now a delay between brews given to the same tower, brew no longer affects sub-towers like mini-Comanches, and its price was increased. The only buffs were to crosspathing, which wasn't used.
The most notable impact from updates I've seen is a challenge which required a pitch perfect farming strategy for the first 11 rounds of ABR on Lotus island in order to get the Superstorm Druid upgrade, the only camo detection allowed, so difficult not even 1% of attempts succeeded. While the first few camo containing rounds could pass, the round 11 camos would defeat you if not popped. However the life gain aspect of a Jungle's bounty upgrade means enough lives are added to complete the challenge no problem.
the 4 0 2 wizzard has monkey knowlege that gives extra damage to moabs i think it is for the archmage too (should not work for chimps though ^^) i sometimes use it on strong (works well vs ddt and is decend as moab class dps to pop the strongest layers) but just when i have good cleanup like spirit of the forest (or bloonsolver, glaivelord...) otherwise you get overrun p.s. if you buff a super monkey and he keeps attacking he will run out of alchemist buffs so there is a point in using a alchemist for each super monkey
I think the reason he lost is because of Gwen being nerfed. Heat it up used to trigger more often which would have really helped all the super monkeys for a high pierce round. In addition, gwen works very well with other fire towers, which the strategy had none of.
Stronger Stimulant had yet to be nerfed to wear off after a number of attacks, and so the full duration applied every time it hit. Add on he noted an extra super also had the buff than his recreation... Yeah. Alch Buff OP. Gwen is reason 2, they did Heat it Up Dirty in terms of it being relied on for Cerams/Pierce like you noted.
It's actually crazy that i first started playing btd battles back when i was in elementary school and now i'm in college. This is one of those games that don't really lose their fun aspect
I want to see you remaster this strategy, by cutting out as much random junk and saving as much cash, while still re-using exactly the same towers (so you couldn't go for a 203 super)
quincy druid and wizard can solo (at least up to round 80 on the easier maps) where you can get 402 wizard by round 40, 502 wizard by round 60, and 250 druid by the end of round 80
Video idea chimps but with income monkey like jungle bounty, supply drop, shinook, merchant, rubber to gold, bloons trap, and benjamin(optional) sure t5 is allowed
you just know what each tower does exactly, you know what bloons come on each round exactly and plan around all of it. you undersatnd synergies between towers etc.
What a wild strategy that somehow worked without any issues back in the day. The 3x Alchemists were too much man...
Yeah somehow
4-0-0's to boot!
400 was because back in the day the acid puddles was before fast throwing potions and middle path didn't nothing to the buff so no one upgrade it
