I don’t necessarily think so. For example, I don’t want people to think I’m gay because it’s factually incorrect, and I don’t like the idea of misinformation spreading. In the same vein, this can be said about anything that is false about me, regardless of the societal perceptions behind it. That being said, I’m sure there are guys out there who think that for entirely homophobic reasons and aren’t consistent with it across the board, but it all depends on whether or not the individual cares specifically about not being thought of as gay or not being thought of as anything that they aren’t.
