Will be recording the first "playthrough" of IL-2 tomorrow or the day after so expect the first campaign video towards the end of this week. Will probably download some mods and purchase a heli module to get a bit more variety going and to try to succeed in the rotorloss heli landing challenge!
I was going to get in to dcs a while ago, but fuck the massive price tag that comes with it. It was a real turn-off when I found out I’d have to pay 2000 fucking dollars to experience the full game.
It seems too unrealistic with the ground physics. Everything else is amazing. But when the plane barely scrapes across the ground during landing, and it partly goes upwards. It has the slightest airtime, and when it touches the ground after getting a little bit of airtime, it just... detonates. But the entire game looks amazing :o
I just realized it's just like the Il-2 1946 crash model. Just look at those crashes, feels kinda similarly "cool but wonky". Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad is past this stage, now they gotta work on things that DCS does better, such as making the nose of the aircraft able to break and such. Improving the look of explosions in Il-2 is also something they should consider, DCS explosions are definitely better-looking than Il-2 explosions. DCS in turn should try to get that better physical feel to the parts getting torn off, Il-2 BoS excels at that.
