You need an acrylic rotary cutter ruler, which can give you accurate angles and widths. The ruler you are using can easily be cut or nicked (wrecked) by your cutter try a 12 or 14 inch 30 or 35 cm by 8 inch or 20 cm ruler or as close as you can get to it. Both inches and metric are out there, smaller than 1cm measurements are very useful. A side with 1/2" or 1.5 cm added can help or hinder, measure twice, cut once. Did no-one tell you backstitching is not done in quilting? It distorts thr fabric. Where there will not be stress and strain on the seams like in clothing, it is absolutely not needed, and much better not done. When the 2 fabric layers and batting are quilted together, or a lining applied, no stress will be put on the seams. Suggestion:- Maybe you could simplify your methods by watching quilters on the tube, you seem to be making hard work of it. Your results are great, so go ahead if you only like what you know, it works for you. All the best. Do you know the difference between ironing and pressing, and when and why to press? I love your pin and clip holder. Your pillow case would last longer if you covered up all those raw edges, by lining the top layer. Do you know about rolling your seamed edges before top-stitching? I do turn corners out like you do. Thank-you.
