These cards are pretty cool - they do make a different feel for the different types of the dungeon. I know this is casual play - I feel like there could be a little more opportunity for strategy or tactics in the play - I don't feel like there is a lot of decision making that is important to survive or be successful, but maybe that isn't the point. Thanks for the walkthrough and adventuring!
@@magehammersgametable 4AD is one of my favorite games. The other one in that "genre" that I like a bit better is D100 Dungeon. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend D100 Dungeon too (the older version is free and posted on BGG). Anyways, just found your channel and love the videos so far!
I played my first game of 4AD using this quest (free to download) and I thought it would be short one. I started off pretty basic with Warrior, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard, but forgot bandages and didn't have any ranged weapon. I used a D12 to determine which card to use and stepped into the dungeon. In total there were 20 rooms/corridors until clue no.1, additional 16 for clue no.2 and 3 for clue no.3. I had 13 minion and 6 vermin encounters before the boss match. Thankfully the boss did flee on a 1 with 2/4 health so my last survivor, the rogue, could escape with all the treasures after 3h of solo play with digital dice. What a game!
@@magehammersgametable during my game I had a feeling that I messed up "searching the room". Because every time I rolled for "search" it was either "nothing" or "combat" and most monsters have no treasure, therefore no loot, no clues no nothing... only another fight waiting in the next corridor. Halfway through the dungeon I suddenly remembered that a 6 "explodes" (LOL). Still cannot believe how this went. PS: First combat was against the weird leech and my Warrior rolled a 1 on level up xD
Nice to see how the adventure decks looks and function. Don't think I'll buy them, but I am expanding my collection on of 4AD pdf's slowly but surely. This video got me in the mood to try out the 'Buried Secrets' adventure. Bought it a couple of months ago, but haven't gotten around to test it yet.
Glad to hear this video was helpful. That is part of my mission statement, spreading the games I love. Thanks for watching and good fortune on your quest for good gaming!
Guess i've been doing it wrong, I shuffle pull the first card as the room as then next consecutive cards for any details and roles. I don't shuffle again until I go into another room... Nice videos I also recommended pocket lands.
Thank you! There’s really no wrong way to solo play! The only down side to taking that card out of the mix is reducing the number of possibilities on the next draw. Thanks for watching, and I will check out pocket lands.
If you end up at a dead end and there are no more rooms or corridors to go to in the dungeon, according to the core rulebook the last room availbale will become the room with the final boss. So that dead end-room you will find the final boss.
@@magehammersgametable Yes, the wizard can cast spells to attac ranged, but you then use the drawf to attack melee. At 19:20 you said the cleric can't attack because it doesn't have ranged weapons, but you originally said it was leading the marching order. So I got confused.

Just pulled this out and was playing wrong so I knew you had a playthrough thank you!!!
You are most welcome! Glad to be of service!!

Best solo game I have picked up since the Dark Judges expansion for Helter Skelter
Thanks for watching!
Looks great. Unfortunately the shipping costs of $15 to Germany ruin my purchase of these cards.
There is a PDF option for print and play if that would work better…

I do the same thing. Shuffle at the start of each encounter, not before drawing each card.
This system also allows the player to determine "die roll results" by drawing a card instead of rolling a die.
Yes! Yes it does. Very handy when traveling.
Sweet game! Also, remember that bosses lose 1 level when they reach half hit points.
Thanks! And Thanks for watching!
One of those 12 cards is a dead end (room). What happens if you end up in such a dead end and there is no other door or corridor?
You have to go back and re trace your steps. In rare cases, I simply add a door where there isn’t one and go through it.

You met the tentacled worm in a corridor, you said your cleric was leading the march, so should the cleric have fought the tentacled worm alone?
Characters with ranged weapon can attack from the back ranks.
