I love how the narrator went the extra mile to alter the voices of the different characters in the story ...it made the story more engaging and interesting. Thank you 👍
They both had an eye for the chance, Dave never offered any condolences to his sister in law& expected food for nothing.Greed & stupidity go hand in hand.
She was smart enough to dump the older building on hubs, since she knew she would have to leave it sometime soon anyway. The 500k was an unexpected bonus for her.
Divorce does not happen outside of a court of law. There is division of assets such as bank accounts and real property, and possible payment of alimony and child support. No one anywhere gets divorced by signing some papers at home.
in an uncontested divorce one person can get the paperwork from the court house fill it out the other party sines if they have nothing to fight about usually with a notary and takes it back to the court to be filed . No one ever doesn't have something to fight about so it never happens and the paperwork is such a pain you need help just to get it done.
Used to work at a Kinko's long before they folded into FedEx. They had packets of legal papers for various different things, including divorce. Uncontested divorce, obviously. Packet was $30, and a bargain if you were both poor and still wanting to part ways. So it could be done. The story does sound as if it happened either outside of the US, or that the husband and brother were born outside of the US. The shock both seemed to feel over the wife inheriting a business from her own family... That's just not as common as it once was here.

Basically they thought they could serve crap and people would still come. Knowing that neither could cook it would have taken a simple add in the paper or online and if they at the minimum got a former sous chef or at worst a recent culinary school grad or anyone with at least a little experience in cooking to come and work for them. Would they be the same roaring success? Depends on the cook they hired. But if they could cook half way decent they could have slowly built the business up. But seeing as these guys thought they could throw anything on the table no matter how horrible it is and customers would still come and pay. Shows how delusional they were. Someone should have steered them in the direction of Kitchen Nightmares and after listening to Gordon Ramsay tell they might and that's a big might have gotten a clue that the restaurant business is a piece of cake.

If the divorce is uncontested you can in many countries and states.

Well Dave it isn't so profitable with freeloading relatives mooching meals.
And here I thought that Michael's arm injury was the loan sharks trying to force him to pay up his debts! 😁
Oh, the creepy voices!
Yes! And the stilted way it was written. Definitely originally in another language, likely an Asian one.

No, your grandfather left it to you. You can cook, and your husband can't. The food would be different and your costumers would leave.
