He probably could but he decided to either give Ben a win or to humble him because by the time he sees Ben again he gives the completed omnitrix so maybe azimuth decided let’s see how he handles my biggest regret
8:53 I find it almost intriguing to think this is more Kevin respecting XLR8 given that when they were younger, XLR8 was the first of Ben's Aliens Kevin ever saw and that was also when Ben first helped him out.
Ben fighting Sir George is even more epic when you realize it's a human fighting with Azmuth's first and most destructive creation and another fighting with his latest and more peaceful one.
1st off, this episode really gives off classic Azmuth vibes, especially with his ego he had. And second, it's sweet trying to fix his mistakes for Zeneth
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a Watchmaker.” (1945) Albert Einstein
Its also interesting how George and Ben are kinda paralels since during the highbreed invasion Ben had pretty much the exact same reaction as George when Azmuth wanted to take the omnitrix from him, both of them basically said "Azmuth you can only have it after i use it to deal with this crisis, and if you insist on it then you will have to try take it by force from me"
This is one of best episodes. I think that Dagon never shapeshifted into a dragon, he was just confused for one as the story was passed down for generations. Which explains why Patrick's faction was so fixated with killing the map maker, they thought he was Dagon.
historically alot of creatures have had the dragon title slapped onto them so it's entirely possible that Dagon had it put on him and the forever knights misinterpreted it to be a classic european dragon
@@jondw The main problem is that "Dragon" is pretty much just an umbrella term for many different looking creatures across multiple stories, myths, and legends, but pop media made everyone believe that "Dragon" = Generic Euro-Dragon with 4 legs and a pair of wings (like Spyro, or the alien cartographer) It's like the term "Demon". You say "Demon" and everyone thinks of the generic Devil-look, red and with horns, when demons's appearences are all over the place
@@jvbon646 yes that is what I'm saying, that perhaps Dagon was referred to as a dragon and the forever knights simply assumed the pop media interpretation even if that interpretation wasn't actually accurate
Old George's talk with Ben was so great. It is actually rare to see a show like this have people on both sides talk about what they have in common or can sympathize with. When George has someone as sure of themselves as Ben even in doubt of what to do, you know his words have some major sway. Yeah, Old George is definitely one of the best characters.
I do think it makes sense that a project like the Omnitrix, which has taken him nearly 1000 years to perfect, may have had multiple factors behind it's creation.
I think as a scientific tool as well as a catalog of the dna should a species go extinct (eithe by the high breed of another factor) seem perfectly reasonable
@@creed8712 also doesn't contradict the function it has of allowing people to understand each other since it an understanding of another can go down to biological functions.
29:19 man i will say, George indeed has a VERY strong mental fortitude, Not only was he strong enough to not be mind controlled by the lucubras,he also wasn't corrupted by the sword and most impresive of all he not only saw that horrorfying image that made the trio feel sick but he was right there close and personal with this lovecraftian extra-dimentional demon fighting it, and cutting out his heart during all of it, really makes me wonder if for example maybe George would be one of the few characters that would be able to look at toepicks face without being cosumed by fear
I really like how Rob breaks down these episodes, lot of passion and attention given to the episodes and a really nice simple rating system, keep it up Kuro and friends ♥️
I love this episode because it shows that young Azmuth used to be like Ben and was blinded by his curiosity that the sword was used for destruction, so he created the Omnitrix technology as a form of redemption and an apology. It is sad since we never knew whether Zenith noticed, but I'd like to think that she did somewhere... 😢
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a Watchmaker.” (1945) - Albert Einstein
I really like how the Incursean were incorporated into the lore of Ascalon, those guys hadn’t been relevant for like 3 seasons up until then. It’s interesting how a race used mostly for comic relief have such a grim backstory but this explained why they were always out to wage war and conquer worlds.
Maybe the tale was originally about Sir George fighting "The Dagon", but over generations it shifted into "The Dragon" as people associated medieval knights with fighting dragons and Dagon is not too far off linguistically.
I can't believe Azmuth actually had a girlfriend, he strikes me as the kind of person to build a computer wife, like Plankton. She probably would have turned evil tho 😂
@@ferociousfeind8538well considering he created malware, turned Albedo evil, and (albeit indirectly) kickstarted the Incursion conquest, it’s not really hard to believe that he’d cause yet ANOTHER villain origin
28:55 It must be said that in Lovecraft's works Cthulhu was described similar to a dragon: "A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings; but it was the general outline of the whole which made it most shockingly frightful." Maybe Dagon had the tentacle head and the dragon body in the past, but it was so mindbreaking that it could only be remembered as a dragon.
Do you think that the ability of the sword being able to turn George back to his prime has the same technology as the Omnitrix turning the aliens into their prime physical form? Maybe it was inspired by the sword
When you think about it, Ascalon and the Omnitrix are foils to one another Ascalon destroys, the Omnitrix unites Ascalon keeps the user in their prime, the Omnitrix gives the user transformations in their prime Ascalon grants the user a lot of abilities at once, the Omnitrix grants a lot of abilities used in separate forms Ascalon is implied to eventually corrupt it's user, the Omnitrix actively has a function that keeps it's user alive Ascalon is Azmuth's greatest regret, the Omnitrix is his pride and joy
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a Watchmaker.” (1945) Albert Einstein
It's not quite the same though. George is returned to his younger self and I doubt there's a genetic difference happening. The Omnitrix makes you the fittest member of the species and keeps you the same relative age.
The Omnitrix doesn't give you the aliens in their prime, it turns you into the peak of the species for your gender and age (which is why Princess Looma?Luma? is still stronger than 17yo Fourarms)
I always had a theory that, on top of many theories that the Omnitrix is "alive", in a sense, so is Ascalon, and there's a "connection" between them in some way. Perhaps even using the same energy. Like, they never really went into detail what kind of energy is the Omnitrix using, so perhaps since it's powerful enough to wipe out a universe at maximum self destruct, it's powered by the same cosmic force as Ascalon, and therefore the sword is able to "command" the Omnitrix to stand down also i love how a friend of mine basically thought that Ascalon was a weapon created for destruction and used primarily to destroy the user'sfoes, while the Omnitrix was made for peace and is used to protect others, especially by someone like Ben so in a way, if used together (properly, unlike what happens in the UA finale), the user would essentially have a SWORD and a SHIELD, complimenting each other, as Ascalon's capacity to destroy is tempered by the Omnitrix's ability to save, a true balance between two of Azmuth's greatest creations!
I really like Sir George as a character. Not only is he pretty badass and I like the very traditionally heroic vibe to him, but he actually manages to talk Ben out of fighting with him. He's essentially someone Ben would aspire to be.
If you truly believe that, then you fail to grasp the true flaw of his character. He represents the best of what ben could be IF all of bens shortcomings rose to the surface. He exists to corrupt ben. Remember the final decision Villgax (the villain) tried to make ben make. That's the same decision George is trying to convince him of now. That his own sense of morality is the correct one. Keep in mind, Sir George ended up being the reason why the forever knights were created, and his lack of _"doing the right thing that you dont want to do"_ is strictly what lead to that and why the knights ended up becoming the bad guys. He is heroism when stoicism is left unchecked. A flaw that I am only now realizing as of writing this that I suffer from as well. Pure hubris.
@Paulo SM oh wow, you're right, I think that only adds to his guiltiness of why he had to build the Omnitrix after he built the sword, to make up for the tragedies that he has caused
George indirectly caused all the harm of the knights, but them going down a bad path in his name after he left is one thing, him handwaving their reinvigorated lynch squads while all the knights are now under him... that is truly horrific.
The way Old George reflects U.Humungousaurs "bullets" really reminded me of Six from Generator Rex as he does the same in an episode, and the interesting thing about it is that the motion his arm goes in looks like he isn't just fast enough to do this, but he carefully chose a path for the blade such that it requires the least movement.
When you showed Cannonbolt saying that its species, Arburian Pelarota, was extinct, I wondered what Ultimate Cannonbolt can do after being freed from the Ultimatrix. All the other Ultimatrix beings still have their species they're the ultimate forms of, so I can't imagine how Ultimate Cannonbolt is dealing with it, if it was ever brought up again
I'm quite the omniverse fan- I felt it injected a lot of personality and energy into the series - but watching UAF breakdowns has made me appreciate the serious tone a bit more.
I always get so bummed that most of my peers aren’t familiar with Ben 10 stuff past the OG series. There’s just so much good stuff they’ll never bother to experience
I like to think that the reason the Dagon is portrayed as a dragon is because someone misheard the Dagon's name and the story was always retold as it being known as the Dragon. Just a fun little lost to time and translation thing.
George's speech is just great, and I think the best part of that scene might be the implication that Ben has moved on from Kirk mediating between Kevin's McCoy and Gwen's Spock, to mediating between Saint George's McCoy and High Thinker Azmuth's Spock.
Verdona was also able to turn Ben human again, while simultaneously undoing all of the collateral damage in their fight, all with a literal snap of her finger. then there's Maltruant from Omniverse who can undo Ben's transformations and then freeze the Omnitrix in time.
This has got to be one of my favorite episode breakdowns that you've made. The dynamic between George, Ben and Asmuth really got you talking and reflecting and watching you do so is rather engaging... maybe even a little hypnotic. Keep up the good work and keep it fizzy, Kuro. ✌
This episode and the others following it (excluding Couples Retreat and Night Of The Living Nightmare) was quite special to me as it was part of a set of episodes in a DVD my dad bought for me. I would constantly rewatch these episodes as it’s really special to be able to watch something that had already ended and I didn’t know how to watch previous shows or seasons back then. I am so excited for these last few episodes to hopefully get full breakdowns.
In the story Driscoll reads about St. George and the Dragon it might not have been referring to Dagon at all but perhaps one of the lucubra. We see him spear head the giant Lucubra in a similar manner to some incarnations of the original take and they have mind powers too. Not to mention there shape would be more inclined to be misinterpreted as a Dragon than the giant octopus. It's quite possible who ever wrote the original story saw or heard of George killing the giant Lucubra and just assumed that was the final boss
I think the story is about Dagon since it mentions the heart thing, it’s just that over the centuries the story was embellished. A lot of creatures in history were interpreted as dragons or demons; crocodilians, big cats, dinosaur bones, rhinos, etc. I can see a giant lovecraftian squid thing could be misinterpreted as a ancient whiskered dragon
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a Watchmaker.” (1945) - Albert Einstein I ALWAYS thought this Quote ought to have been shown at the end of the episode for extra-oomph, but otherwise I 100% Agree!👍🤯👽
THEY DID extrapolate Dagon into a dragon. That’s such a cool detail. I mentioned this in a comment on the previous breakdown, but old European’s (and others but George is in Europe so let’s just go with Europe) often mistook regular animals like rhinos for unicorns. Of course they would see Dagon as a dragon, what else could he be to them?
That’s also how I saw it, I mean he was a gigantic creature the size of the sky with a “whiskered and scaly” face(tentacles), ofc they’d think he’d a dragon
@@namesdontmattergaming2756 but eastern dragons were known more for their whiskers than western dragons. I suppose th🎉 face that it can fly and had a hypnotic stare had something to do with it
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 Western Dragons could have whiskers too? Also the east and west weren’t completely separate during this time, there was trading of goods and stuff
20:26 this scene has made me realize something, aren’t Galvan eyelids supposed to move vertically, yet Azmuth’s eyes are closing like human eyelids and are squinted like human eyes most of the time outside of this scene, isn’t that weird?🤔
I suppose these are aspects that the storyboarders might have a hard time keeping track of; sort of stuff you realize after you've done it. Same goes for how in Destroy All Aliens, Azmuth's dad says older galvans look younger and vice versa, then here we see young Azmuth looking younger instead.
@@theamazingspooderman2697 I meant blinking normally, of course I remember that he blinks sideways, that was what I was saying in the first comment. But I can see how that would be easy to misunderstand
@theglassespro4557I like that idea a bit better, it makes sense considering how advanced the Galvan are, like heck I bet us humans'll be doing things like that within a few centuries, I mean we're already making progress on being able to artificially re-grow organs and things like that for transplants, so what's stopping us a few hundred years from now from being able to clone new bodies to transplant our brains/consciousness into? If anything it seems like the most possible way we could ever realistically reach pseudo-immortality without changing our own genetic structure drastically, I doubt it'll be soon at all, but I won't be surprised if I start hearing about things like that being possible when I'm like 90 or something
The modern use of Mister actually stems from Master. Master being the use for a house leader. So a young master is a future leader of the home. This bleeds into the “Young man” phrase in more current times. But to refer to someone is in many ways paying respects to their capabilities both now and as the person they will mature into. It’s both accurate speaking and being friendly. That’s why I never questioned but I’m also a trivia machine so knowing these little things is in my nature
I think since the fountain of youth is also a canon thing, whatever gives the fountain its properties is what let's George be immortal. It's not like the two groups are that distant in time and scope.
Character should've been an easy 5. Aside from George bring great. It also shows Ben's growth well in 2 instances. He demands answers from azmuth and both listens and allows George to try it his way. You also have great tiny details like Gwen and Kevin protecting each other which is great
12:23 Since the Omnitrix/Ultimatrix functions as a receiver of sorts for the DNA samples stored in the Condon Stream on Primus, it can be assumed that anything that could interfere with that signal/communication ability would cancel out Ben’s transformations. We get an example of this in Eunice’s second appearance when they’re dealing with a DNAlien infestation on Spidermonkey’s homeworld, when she mentions that her uplink to Primus is the source of the “Parallel Signal Interference” error message from the Ultimatrix.
I know Ben technically isn’t a chosen one since the Omnitrix was initially meant for Max, but having George as his foil, someone else given Azmuth’s ultimate device, is so interesting to see. Both Ascalon and the Omni/Ultimatrix have seemingly limitless power but also provide completely different abilities. I’d bet Ascalon’s power is likely a factor in why Azmuth decided to include a time limit and a limited playlist for the Omnitrix in the first place
That would make sense. He didn’t want anyone, even someone such as Max, having the ability to turn into any alien species they could think of. Ben uses his alien’s hero names to transform but max know individual species. If he knew of Celestial Sapians he could just turn into one.
It could be that Azmuth created the omnitrix for Zenith and to help everyone grow closer to each other (because of his loss and the destruction he witnessed) but didn't want to tell Ben about her at first (that's why it's just the part about being closer to each other) , and later on, he discovered how the highbreed started to destroy planet after planet so he upgraded the omnitrix (beginning of Af) to store DNA to revive the species that got extinct through them. At the end of UAF, he built enough trust to Ben over the years to finally tell him about Zenith.
I love this episode for many reasons 1. Azmuth bragging how smart he is then treating Ben as a lackey to kick George's butt 2. Ben willingly wanna fight George because Azmuth is telling him to fight because the creator of his watch said so 3. Azmuth wacking his head 4. Azmuth somewhat giving him advice with his love life to Julie I would love if Azmuth actually gave Ben master control just because he was a great boyfriend to Julie or have Ben take Julie on a date while Azmuth looks on to end the episode
Saved the day countless times - nah, not worthy of master control YOUR DATE LIFE WENT WELL? You have greatly exceeded my expectations, Ben Tennison! Here's master control XD
I've watched all of your breakdowns but this one feels best. Your opinions add so much that it truly feels like a full reaction or review. It's hard to put to words but this video was amazing and maybe even the first time ive enjoyed you only reviewing one instead of 2 or 3 eps. Thank you Kuro!
A star walks into a black hole but doesn't seen phased. The black hole then turns to the star and says, "I don't think you understand the gravity of this situation."
06:52 considering we later learn that mana is multi-dimensional, it's not a stretch to assume that the magic seal is the same. In fact, that's probably why they decided mana works like that, to directly imply the seal worked like that, since it's supercharged with magic and therefore with mana.
Just a quick confirmation. Yes Master is used as a term for a male under 18. Here in the UK they refer to you as such when you get a credit card. I believe it's also why female characters are referred to as Young Miss or Mistress. But I could be wrong. So when George calls Ben, "Young Master" he's just doing it to refer to Ben being under aged. Where as if he was older (like let's say Ben 10K's age) He would likely refer to him as Mr. Tennyson or something instead.
7:55 I think Echo Echo never got a transformation sequence because it would have been hard to show Ben morphing into a small alien like him in the UAF art style and Fasttrack should have been given more powers than just enhance speed and reflexes, like maybe telescopic vision and throwing quill like projectiles from the spikes on his arms.
@@MiraculousHolder365 all you do is add the original shrinking scene then turn him into echo echo its not hard. Or turn him into echo echo then shrink him
So, azmuth saw a planetary allingment, and the first thing he thought of was, " I have got to make a sword." For someone that is smarter than five galaxies, how the hell did he jump to that
The scene were Azmuth show's the scene of George tearing out Dagon's heart and the way the trio responded to it in such horror is something that stook with me to this day like you said it makes you wonder what they saw but it's what you don't see that makes it all the more unsettling.
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. Zenith to me feels like the sort of basic character archetype you make for a “posthumous” character; they’re their for the sake of their function, which is to be a reminder of when things were better for the subject in question. She’s not poorly written from a narrative standpoint, but you’ve seen a Zenith in a bunch of other stuff.
This episode ended up making what Ben said in the first movie, not live action, about the initials on the watch his dad got his mom makes sense as to why that was a clue as to how to track Azmuth down. Since Azmuth hoped that Zenith would be the one who realizes who made the watch for the purpose of peace. But due to the power hungry beings in the universe which had sought out the Omnitrix thanks to the rumors about it, its clear she felt that her ex never changed. Never realizing his mistake. In fact, I believe that Zenith had moved on and gotten with someone else. Since with how long it had been since they had been together. I wouldn't be surprised that Zen had decided to live her life.
I had an out there theory about Azmuth's line about how he can't go back in time and fix his mistakes. Who's to say he hasn't tried? Maybe he built a time machine but was stopped by Professor Paradox before he could use it, and that's how they originally met?
I think the reason Ben sometimes uses fast track more than xlr8 despite the fact xlr8 is faster is because fasttrack actually has dexterous hands instead of the claws xlr8 has
We’ve all done wild things to impress someone we like. It’s usually not “building a device to catalog all the species in the universe with the ability to recreate entire worlds” but I mean hey, why not?
Mhm. I admit, when that episode first came out, I was unsure how to feel about it. This breakdown gave me a new appreciation for it. Old George *is* an amazingly written character and it's a shame he gets killed so quickly in the climax and never returned in the franchise again. I guess it's just one of these episodes that ages surprisingly well.
It's weird how Gwen just gets hit directly by powerful attacks and still be able to get up with little to now injuries. Now it's understandable for Ben and Kevin cause most of Ben's aliens are durable to heavy attacks and energies while Kevin is usually in some form of hard or durable material to resist powerful attacks so its so crazy how you blow a bomb to her and she will still get up
It always was kinda weird, that in flashback they wanted to build up how horrifying being Dagon is. But at the end they just make him big squid on the sky. Idk I thought that this arc literally was going to deep more into how such monstrosities are corrupting your mind and how Ben will survive such fight.
@@keeganrossTechnically the best lovecraftian horror is when they do not show the monster in his presence at all. But I guess ultimate way big punching giant squid was more interesting xd
@@keeganross I believe it won't be easy to control Alien X cause of his multiple personalities. I also think Alien X is not that weak because remember, he recreated his entire universe in Omniverse after it was destroyed by Annihilarrgh.
@@keeganross fair enough, but I think fight between Alien X and Dagon can fight on equal terms considering the scope of their abilities; I mean both can bend reality, create something out of nothing.
Don't know if anyone else has commented this, but in classical folklore a dragon was a big fucking scary thing that no one has any idea why it exists. For example DND tarrasque is actually based off of what was described as a dragon. Even though it looks like nothing pop culture has come out with recently. So it's really funny how the forever knights are even affected by today's pop culture and media
I wouldn't say it was "obvious" for me, but as a kid I was a fan of the Artemis Fowl books. Artemis is frequently referred to as Master Fowl, not just by his butler but by random business acquaintances and whatnot. In one book, he has a meeting with someone who just assumed they were meeting with an adult and was like "Where is Mister Fowl?" and Artemis corrects them like, "I am *Master* Fowl, and I'm the one you're meeting with." So I did figure it out long before UA.
Your breakdowns are so good. It ties in appreciation, criticism, informative and recommendations. Really shows how much you love the media you consume.
I do like the omniverse redisgn of fast track playing up his cat like aspects. I think playing up his cat like agilty making him a more all arouned triatholin alien would work.
Just a reminder for you that I’m so glad and thankful that you began this breakdown series. I love coming back to this world after following it from the beginning way back when. Even though I’m not caught up on omniverse or the reboot, I’m anticipating how those will turn out in the future. Thank Kuro and team
I guess that’s why George and Ben are worthy of Azmuth’s invention because they kind of like him but totally like him so they won’t make the same mistakes as him. That’s why George understand Ben, I guess their kind of like “brothers in arms”.
Ben vs George was nothing but Talk no Jutsu. George just won the Talk no Jutsu battle, but Ben did prove himself enough for George to agree to a failsafe. On the non-zero percent change George fails, Ben gets the sword, and Ben does. That’s why the Talk no Jutsu battle between Ben and George is so important. It’s about communicating and understanding what’s being communicated. Even Azmuth understood that after Ben explained himself.
Funny thing is back in the original series days, XLR8's species was described as looking like Fast Track beneath the suit, having "long pointed ears, hair and large feet" it makes me wonder if Fast Track concept art was mistaken for XLR8 when the website was made thus the mistaken description. It has been rectified since then of course.
I honestly would've hoped that they bring up the spring of youth from the classic series to explain george's immortality,Would've been a nice callback and pretty much ties the whole series up which is what this arc has been doing.
I also thought this for a bit but I guess it wouldn’t really make any sense as George is British and was around far before the spring was discovered in America. You also need to constantly be drinking from it to keep surviving so there couldn’t be another Fountain of Youth in the UK or else he would’ve ran out after he moved to America and it was destroyed by Baby Heatblast.
@@Bertiboy Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you in this regard. The writers were clearly pulling a lot of direct inspiration from the legend of Saint George, including using Western-style, Roman Catholic imagery for his design. A 'historically' accurate depiction is Greek, and the Greek Orthodox art looks closer to what he would've actually looked like, considering his ethnicity and where he was born and raised (first Cappadocia in Asia Minor/modern Turkey, then Syria Palaestin/roughly modern Israel?). He's also a Christian martyr, killed during the reign of Diocletian, in both the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches, so if I had to guess the reason for his immortality, it was some sort of reward for his unshakeable faith in God.
You got to do a full breakdown for the dark episode, i fear you wont because it doesn’t necessarily fit into the overall story but damn it deserves a full breakdown
I like to think as a personal headcanon, that Classic grey matter seemed so much smaller compared to UAF Azmuth because the transformation wasn't fully grown
I think the best part about this episode is how George managed to talk Ben out of a fight and even managed to make him talk to Azmuth and tell him he was wrong and should give George a chance. The characterization and dialogue is too good this episode
The joke of azmuth saying for Ben to get the sword from George was fun and all, but I can't stop thinking that he should have some voice/dna/eye command to disable the sword from a distance, it sounds like something he would do
I think Azmuth's logic was more or less like "I've made a terrible mistake, but maybe I can still redeem myself by creating something just as good as the evil thing I made. And maybe if I do, things can go back to the way they were before, back when I was happy but didn't yet realise it. So what the good device should be? Well, I've created a tool of war, so now I shall create a tool of peace. Seeing as most conflicts happen because two groups can't understand eachother, and there is no better way to understand someone than to literally become them, I will create a device that stores the DNA of all living things inteligent enough to be safely transformed into, and allows it's user to mix his DNA with one of those stored in the device, thus transforming him into a different species without losing his sense of self, so he can trully understand how it is to be somebody else. Additionally, since the device hosts all the DNA in the universe, it can act as a fail save for an entire species in case a war did break out despite my device being supposed to stop that from happening." And sice that's how progress usually works, he also installed some features he invented previously, like bringing the user to the prime of his abilities while using the device (George going back to his youth and Ben always turning into the most genetically perfect verison of the alien) or the fail save protecting the user (Ben's watch regrowing him from his DNA, preventing his arm from being cut off ergo separated from the omnitrix, or picking an alien for him so he can survive and sir George's life "being bound to the sword Escalon"). Then as he keept working he saw more and more things that his device would need to do, so he keept upgreading it thus adding more features. So we ended up with things like Omnitrix scanning the DNA of creatures, protective features like locking the master controll or timeouts and all of the things the watch can do now.
These breakdowns have giving me a new appreciation for Ultimate Alien, a section of Ben 10 history I’ve never really liked before. It just really puts into perspective what a departure Omniverse is.
4:45 This is true! People don’t really say it anymore but it’s normally used to refer the first born son. I’ve seen it used instead of mister on official letters/documents sometimes as well
I think J.J Abrams watched this episode before he wrote Star Wars The Force Awakens. Sir George: (In question of his immortality) "The how of it is a story for another day." Maz Kanata: (In question of having Anakin's lightsaber) "A good question, for another time."
6:32 so dimension walking is like using the nether to travel far distances in Minecraft, you enter the nether through a portal in the overworld, walk a little bit in the nether and then exit to the overworld again and find yourself in a different place. But here the distance must be the same here cause unlike Minecraft where 1 block in nether = 8 blocks in the overworld Gwen was able to see the esoterica walk on stairs in the dragon dimension in real time, so the two dimensions are right on top of each other with 1:1 distance ratio.

Yeah, that's what I figured
historically alot of creatures have had the dragon title slapped onto them so it's entirely possible that Dagon had it put on him and the forever knights misinterpreted it to be a classic european dragon
@@jondw
The main problem is that "Dragon" is pretty much just an umbrella term for many different looking creatures across multiple stories, myths, and legends, but pop media made everyone believe that "Dragon" = Generic Euro-Dragon with 4 legs and a pair of wings (like Spyro, or the alien cartographer)
It's like the term "Demon".
It was confirmed by Duncan Rouleau that Dagon can shapeshift and he chose a dragon form to mock George
Old George's talk with Ben was so great. It is actually rare to see a show like this have people on both sides talk about what they have in common or can sympathize with. When George has someone as sure of themselves as Ben even in doubt of what to do, you know his words have some major sway. Yeah, Old George is definitely one of the best characters.
it's such a shame he went out the way he did
I do think it makes sense that a project like the Omnitrix, which has taken him nearly 1000 years to perfect, may have had multiple factors behind it's creation.
Yeah it isn't as simple as kuro makes it out to be it doesn't necessarily has to be a "retcon" just a newer look at azmuth.
I think as a scientific tool as well as a catalog of the dna should a species go extinct (eithe by the high breed of another factor) seem perfectly reasonable

"A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings; but it was the general outline of the whole which made it most shockingly frightful."
Maybe Dagon had the tentacle head and the dragon body in the past, but it was so mindbreaking that it could only be remembered as a dragon.
I think Vilgax is rather based on the Cthulhu
Do you think that the ability of the sword being able to turn George back to his prime has the same technology as the Omnitrix turning the aliens into their prime physical form? Maybe it was inspired by the sword
When you think about it, Ascalon and the Omnitrix are foils to one another
Ascalon destroys, the Omnitrix unites
Ascalon keeps the user in their prime, the Omnitrix gives the user transformations in their prime
Ascalon grants the user a lot of abilities at once, the Omnitrix grants a lot of abilities used in separate forms
Ascalon is implied to eventually corrupt it's user, the Omnitrix actively has a function that keeps it's user alive
Ascalon is Azmuth's greatest regret, the Omnitrix is his pride and joy
“The release of atomic-power has changed everything, except our way of thinking…. the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind.
If only I had known, I should have become a Watchmaker.” (1945)
Albert Einstein
It's not quite the same though.
George is returned to his younger self and I doubt there's a genetic difference happening. The Omnitrix makes you the fittest member of the species and keeps you the same relative age.
@mad laddie geroge is implied to just be built different
The Omnitrix doesn't give you the aliens in their prime, it turns you into the peak of the species for your gender and age (which is why Princess Looma?Luma? is still stronger than 17yo Fourarms)
I always had a theory that, on top of many theories that the Omnitrix is "alive", in a sense, so is Ascalon, and there's a "connection" between them in some way. Perhaps even using the same energy. Like, they never really went into detail what kind of energy is the Omnitrix using, so perhaps since it's powerful enough to wipe out a universe at maximum self destruct, it's powered by the same cosmic force as Ascalon, and therefore the sword is able to "command" the Omnitrix to stand down
also i love how a friend of mine basically thought that Ascalon was a weapon created for destruction and used primarily to destroy the user'sfoes, while the Omnitrix was made for peace and is used to protect others, especially by someone like Ben
so in a way, if used together (properly, unlike what happens in the UA finale), the user would essentially have a SWORD and a SHIELD, complimenting each other, as Ascalon's capacity to destroy is tempered by the Omnitrix's ability to save, a true balance between two of Azmuth's greatest creations!
that's definitely not the case for the ultimatrix.
Exactly.
Both would compliment each other perfectly.
… bro, where were you and your friend when the finale was being written, this is such an amazing analysis
Omnitrix is using Omni energy.
Or the Omnitrix ai is so advanced, that this ai become selfaware. That's why it has a conscience of it's own.
I really like Sir George as a character. Not only is he pretty badass and I like the very traditionally heroic vibe to him, but he actually manages to talk Ben out of fighting with him. He's essentially someone Ben would aspire to be.
To bad George is still a racist basterd.
Dude is a racist to aliens though

Damn dmc and Ben 10 fan together, you seem like SSStylish person
Here we are. The best joke in the entire Ben 10 franchise:
Azmuth: Of course I can take it from you!
Ben Tennyson take it from him.
I love that they don't show George cutting out dagon's heart because it leaves it to the imagination so it can be however gruesome you think it may be
This episode and the others following it (excluding Couples Retreat and Night Of The Living Nightmare) was quite special to me as it was part of a set of episodes in a DVD my dad bought for me. I would constantly rewatch these episodes as it’s really special to be able to watch something that had already ended and I didn’t know how to watch previous shows or seasons back then. I am so excited for these last few episodes to hopefully get full breakdowns.
The way this episode deconstructs Ben character with George and Azmuth makes it a 10/10 to me
In the story Driscoll reads about St.
Easily one of my favorite episodes, Azmuth’s Backstory, Ascalon, finding out the more reasonings for the Omnitrix, and Ben and Sir George talk

I mentioned this in a comment on the previous breakdown, but old European’s (and others but George is in Europe so let’s just go with Europe) often mistook regular animals like rhinos for unicorns. Of course they would see Dagon as a dragon, what else could he be to them?

20:26 this scene has made me realize something, aren’t Galvan eyelids supposed to move vertically, yet Azmuth’s eyes are closing like human eyelids and are squinted like human eyes most of the time outside of this scene, isn’t that weird?🤔
Then why doesn’t Ben as grey matter do that too, at the very least I don’t remember him blinking both ways.
I suppose these are aspects that the storyboarders might have a hard time keeping track of; sort of stuff you realize after you've done it. Same goes for how in Destroy All Aliens, Azmuth's dad says older galvans look younger and vice versa, then here we see young Azmuth looking younger instead.
@@Je-S1001 Grey Matter blinked sideways in both Classic and in OV
Azmuth has a lot of layers, he’s like an onion with gills.
You also have great tiny details like Gwen and Kevin protecting each other which is great
Wouldn’t say either of those moments from Ben is growth since he has done both before.
I like to think George is also a master wizard, to tie Merlin into it. His wind spell made me think of Classic Gwen.
So George is basically a Witcher

That would be my take on azmuths reasons and a way to possibly connect them all
I love this episode for many reasons
1. Azmuth bragging how smart he is then treating Ben as a lackey to kick George's butt
2. Ben willingly wanna fight George because Azmuth is telling him to fight because the creator of his watch said so
3. Azmuth wacking his head
4. Azmuth somewhat giving him advice with his love life to Julie
I would love if Azmuth actually gave Ben master control just because he was a great boyfriend to Julie or have Ben take Julie on a date while Azmuth looks on to end the episode
Saved the day countless times - nah, not worthy of master control

She’d still be alive right? Cause Azmuth is older than dirt on Earth seemingly, so she’d have to be around too no?

I know it wasn't meant to but saying "Its hard to imagine him having any relationship to begin with." is such a sick burn

But now re-watching it with you makes me appreciate it a lot more
21:15 That wipe combined with the flash is really clean
I liked how in this episode we get to see other weapons that azmuth's created. I would have liked to see more of that.
@@Bertiboy
Maybe just have the fountains origin in europe and then moved to the new world?
The seal is pandimensional, that is part of its magic. It exists on all planes.
11:03 💀 I laughed way too hard at the arm spinning
Great vid, I always enjoy these analysis vids
I like to think as a personal headcanon, that Classic grey matter seemed so much smaller compared to UAF Azmuth because the transformation wasn't fully grown
I think the best part about this episode is how George managed to talk Ben out of a fight and even managed to make him talk to Azmuth and tell him he was wrong and should give George a chance. The characterization and dialogue is too good this episode
I love how Dagon is so terrible that Ben, Kevin and Gwen (who fought Vilgax, the Highbreed, Aggregor etc) didn't want to get involved.
Additionally, since the device hosts all the DNA in the universe, it can act as a fail save for an entire species in case a war did break out despite my device being supposed to stop that from happening."
And sice that's how progress usually works, he also installed some features he invented previously, like bringing the user to the prime of his abilities while using the device (George going back to his youth and Ben always turning into the most genetically perfect verison of the alien) or the fail save protecting the user (Ben's watch regrowing him from his DNA, preventing his arm from being cut off ergo separated from the omnitrix, or picking an alien for him so he can survive and sir George's life "being bound to the sword Escalon").
Then as he keept working he saw more and more things that his device would need to do, so he keept upgreading it thus adding more features. So we ended up with things like Omnitrix scanning the DNA of creatures, protective features like locking the master controll or timeouts and all of the things the watch can do now.
I just noticed that Eon is grouped with the transformations in your intro. It's a nice touch. (It's at 0:11 ish for everyone looking.)
I didn't notice that before
“Azmuth is telling me to fight! You think I’m passing that up?”
These breakdowns have giving me a new appreciation for Ultimate Alien, a section of Ben 10 history I’ve never really liked before. It just really puts into perspective what a departure Omniverse is.
12:17 There was also that time when in "Duped" the Nice Ben clone detransformed from Humangosaur to human after accidentaly hitting pipe with his head
4:45 This is true! People don’t really say it anymore but it’s normally used to refer the first born son. I’ve seen it used instead of mister on official letters/documents sometimes as well
There’s also the time Ben turned to human after he was knocked out by Michael Morningstar as Jetray.
As someone from the UK I was told the 'master' thing was told a lot to me when I was younger
I think J.J Abrams watched this episode before he wrote Star Wars The Force Awakens.
Sir George: (In question of his immortality)
"The how of it is a story for another day."
Maz Kanata: (In question of having Anakin's lightsaber)
"A good question, for another time."
