- 'I never looked at a groundhog from this point of view before,' said Jeff Permar. Typically thought to be a nuisance, groundhogs have become the lifelong gardener's best friends. In 2019, Permar noticed his crops had large chunks bitten out of them. He purchased a motion-sensor camera to catch the perpetrator. That's when 'Chunk' stole his vegetables and his heart. 'Sure enough, this groundhog comes popping up right in front of the camera,' said Permar. 'He was so smug, he was like, yeah, I'm eating your veggies, what are you gonna do about it?' We have one or two every year. Under our shed. Love it and feed them. Never a family, had two at the same time, but wow, they fought. We could hear them fighting under the shed (oh, maybe it wasn't fighting! Haha) Anyway, we look forward to it every year here in central Pa.
Oh how cute! Chump? Is a total hunk! Too cute! So many people dislike them. And they can so some foundation damage, etc. So I heard! 🙄 I see one coming through my yard, all the time, it stays elsewhere. My neighbors see it too. Yesterday? I saw again. This time? The mama had TWO young ones. It was the cutest thing! The mama took off and they were right behind her. I love seeing them. ❤

My thought was they are cute until the foundation of your house begins to sink as their underground network expands. A friend of mine pumped 11 yards flowable fill concrete under a house to stop a house from sinking because of ground hogs. He said: They will dig out a foundation. And be adorable as they do 🫣

The date of the video is Feb 13, 2021. Almost, a year into the pandemic. At that time? There was so much uncertainty, misinformation, etc. I myself and many were wearing them outside too. Because the WHO was saying, if we walked past someone that sneezed, or had just sneezed, and we came by through there? That it would still be in the air and we could get covid. It was crazy times. Many just weren't sure, so they erred to caution. Thank God we're past that.

@@MymusicW630 I understand your premise, and yes, they were crazy times. Unfortunately, what the pandemic exposed, among many things, was a complete lack of critical thinking skills among a significant portion of the population. Those that were skeptical of these highly questionable "preventative measures", were either mocked and ridiculed, or fired...like you said, thank God we're past that. On a positive note, the story of Chunk is pretty cool.
