4:31 She's probably trying to lay an egg. And I think she's trying to figure out where she wants to start her clutch of eggs. She's not incubating them yet don't worry, she's not taking shifts incubating both nests. Hens lay eggs everyday or every other day depending on the breed of the chicken, and once they've finished laying all her eggs in that one clutch she will turn "broody" and she'll start incubating the eggs so that all the chicks hatch within a very close timeframe. You'll know when she's broody when she's all puffy and very introvert-ish that she doesn't want other chickens around her and she makes this cute clucking sound all the time.
I have raised hundreds of chickens if you are feeding chickens peanuts you should roast them raw peanuts can harm their health. If you let them roam you still need to offer chicken feed and oyster shell , they may also lay eggs in random places
If it was me, I'd put up another fence along the neighbor's side, like the white one that separates the house from the farm lot. But I would add trellis to the top and grow vining flowers or even veggies up the trellis. It would act as privacy, extra greenery, and food for the animals. Also if you're going to free-range you are going to need to put a little fencing around your planter beds. Goats will eat right through any kind of plastic cover and the chickens will eat any thing they can get to as well (plant wise.) The pheasants would also probably do really well with the chickens. Their needs are very similar. Just the 2cents of a NY farm girl lol You and RJ have done such a beautiful job, I have no doubt you will figure it all out, & I'm here for it all!
Seeing you manifest the “farm” from the very beginnings of your vlog has been so much fun and amazing to watch. And to think Ligaya set this all in motion. 🥰

Loving the Ants Canada series, I've watched for years, don't worry about day late. Have a wonderful week!
Wow your farm lots really doing good. Everytime I watch your video I’m manifesting to one day have our own place back there in Philippines too. I think kinda figured who’s the special family 😊 coz i watch there vlog to and know they’re coming in Philippines. God Bless you and family
hi mikey, i suggest you feed your chickens with mixed grains instead of pellet feeds, as the later normally contains hormones. mixed grains are more organic than pellet feeds. here in the philippines mixed grains are often called conditioners, and you can pick it up at any poultry supply. you can even give your chickens chopped veggies ftom time to time.
Still so awesome to see your farm, and house, after watching you since I was a young teen! For your silkies, I'd say two things- one, your rooster probably can get everyone pregnant, despite the size difference. In our mixed flock, of both full-size and bantam chickens, we have one tiny bantam rooster and we still see fertilization spots in the eggs from time to time. make sure to pick up your eggs daily, otherwise you risk cracking a... more developed chicken embryo into your pan. Also, for the roosting bar, I would make sure it's square or flat in shape where they rest their feet, at least two inches wide, and wrapped in rope or twine- a smaller, rounder bar can hurt their feet and cause issues. making it flat lets them get their belly feathers all the way over their feet, which is important for keeping themselves thermoregulated. Also agree with what others are saying, pace yourself! 're getting documentary-level stuff from you on the Ant channel, and reality TV on this one! wouldn't blame you if you put out episodes once a month if they're of the quality you always push out!

Oh and I crush eggshells and turn them into powder and mix it with the hens food sometimes for calcium they need it to make their eggs shells stronger, I spoil them sometimes with dried mealworms but not too much just a bit for protein and they enjoy some fruit like watermelon or papaya chilled from the fridge! I’m with you, I’m not a fan of Winter! Ugh., I live in Connecticut. Love how your farm is coming along . Looking so good. You need a couple things for the goats to jump up on and stand or lay. Mikey, the chickens wants to lay eggs and incubate them if you put them in their private chamber. Like inside their little rooms. Put an empty box inside their cage. Put dried banana leaves or dried grasses or rice stalks. They love them.
Hello Kuya Mikey, I think there's a technique to know if the egg is fertilized or not. You can try the candling method, wherein you can determine if they are fertilized ones or not one. 😊
Just love these Farmhouse vlogs! Each animal and bird has their own personality. Hope the chickens scratch around and get some insects too, that makes the eggs even more tasty. The fence is a great idea. Gosh it's really evolving on the farm. Mental health comes first Mikey. Such a good explanation of burnout. When it becomes that you have to do it, as opposed to want to do it. Totally agree👍
Silkies will definitely breed with other breeds of chickens but there will be no baby or fetus inside the egg unless you allow incubation. Many of the eggs in the store are fertilized as well. The only time for concern is if your hen is broody and has been sitting on the eggs. Here in Texas it also gets hot enough to incubate without hens in the summer so collect daily in hot conditions. Also I've noticed that my silkies cant fly basically at all so they prefer to sleep and nest on the ground so if you are wanting one to go broody, let a clutch of eggs be layed in a nest on the floor.
I highly recommend doing a deep dive on youtube about chickens as they are much more complex then many think. Also the diet you are providing most likely have hormones or chemicals of some sort if it is not certified organic but feeding a pelleted diet along with seeds and forage is needed as the pellet is fortified with all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which are needed to healthily create eggs long term. ( especially with the selectively bred breeds like silkies)
A greenhouse will be good for your farm lot specially when the animals starts to free roam around to avoid destruction of plants specially vegetables and fruit bearing plants.
The color of the eggyolk is because of their diet. In the industy they try to keep feeding costs as low as possible. Because of this they use a lot of wheat. Most chickens in backyards have a better diet wit less wheat and oats and maybe more mais or other good stuff and because of that the color of the eggs is way more bright. It is a sign of a chicken with a healthy diet :D
Thanks for this post! As a former chicken owner the hens will have to sit constantly for about 21 days for healthy chicks to hatch. I agree that the rooster will be able to breed all the hens. Fertilized eggs will be just fine to eat, as you said no problem until they have been incubated for a couple of days.
home eggs totally taste better than store bought! likely because pet chickens generally have a more varied diet with bugs and table scraps etc, while the poor farm chickens are on a more or less entirely pellet/grain diet.
FYI, when you transport trees/plants in the back of your truck, the wind desiccates the leaves & bruises the new growth. From experience, I wrap the tops of trees or leaves of bushes with plastic as protection from wind destruction. Sometimes I lay the trees down with crumbled newspaper stuffed on top of the soil & then cover with tarp. I love everything you do including AntsCanada.
Great Vlog!! FarmVille Vlogs are really super interesting. I really want to comment on what you’re saying about meeting a schedule. I feel that when you reach an age (level of experience) where you understand your world, you must listen to yourself and work to keep your sanity. I know you know this, we’ve been “doing this” now for years and, when you work yourself into a funk everything suffers. Be a great friend to yourself, it’s worth it in every way (again, you already know all this). I wonder if, for summer, it’s worth having a fan system to move air around. Now, I know fans are a danger for birds but, with a little creative engineering, it could be devised pretty easily. In some theme parks, they combine misting tubes and fans together to cool down some of the queues. Just a thought. I’d suggest putting up a fence that suits your needs. If the neighbors prefer something different, they can build that on their side next to your fence. There were Peacocks on the property when I had my condo in Hawaii. They’re beautiful to look at but, they’re nasty, aggressive birds, especially when the males parade their tails… we were told to just get away. Yep, those eggs are exactly what they’re supposed to be. It’s because of the feed, it’s better than the food in a commercial environment. That’s why the yolks are more yellow and more creamy and taste more “yolky”. I’m guessing at some point you’ll not appreciate store-bought eggs as much as your fresh eggs. If I can get fresh eggs to bake with, I prefer it, it makes a huge difference. I find it funny how things change over time. I’ve always loved the “just a day in the life” vlogs but, they’ve changed so much over time. The “day” vlogs in the condo were so different than the “day” vlogs when we had the Pandemic, and when ya’ll moved to Tagaytay, different again and, now in the Farm House, very different again. Some days it’s Aviary vlogs, some days are Pool vlogs and, recently we have FarmVille vlogs… I find it all incredibly cool! ‘Ya never know what we might get but, it’s all super interesting and very informative (if you pay attention, LOL). I wonder if you had a few small, shallow pools around the indoor aviary, the birds would bathe in those (I actually saw some that would be perfect at a glass blowers shop, they would look very cool amongst the flora and fauna). That new red canary is really cool. You can see him immediately. This has worked out splendidly having all these little birds in this aviary. I think you may need a longer plate for all those birds to have their seeds. Your Dad always just cracks me up. My sense is he’s always ready (for anything) with a Joke of the Day. Thanks for another great vlog! Ya’ll be safe and I’ll see ‘ya next time.
Great seeing all the updates on the animals. Seeing the chickens, I wonder if the Silkie Rooster would also do a mating dance to court the hens as some other breeds are known to do it, although I have only witnessed it in the native breeds. By the way, that Little Bronze Cuckoo was making quite a racket in the background there when you were hanging out with the iguanas; that was the bird that was making those sharp whistling sounds. Speaking of sounds, I notice in the background whenever you're in the indoor aviary some sounds that vaguely sound like hooting and cooing; were those the Diamond Doves or were those just other noises that appear to sound like hooting?
@@MikeyBustosVLOGS Ah so they're also like the local Zebra Dove species then that coo non-stop whenever they can; actually makes it easy to find them in the neighborhood whenever I go birdwatching.
Thanks for the positivity always Mikey and Rj hope one day u can also vlog abt the vets checking on the animals ... Can't wait to see ur mom again in Mabuhay farmhouse with everybody... ❤❤❤❤
I'm so excited for that secret special family that's coming!!! I'm pretty sure I know who it is, saw you talk with them in their vlog too so I knew they'll be visiting! woohooooo!! yay!
The sounds in the indoor aviary is magical. I love hearing them. All the birds are beautiful. I also feel happy seeing them. I would love to see Suga and Honey in the next vlog. It was so good to hear when you say that it was done by RJ Garcia. He really is the man. So galing! 😊 Speaking of Phils. getting hot, it's the coldest day of winter today Jan. 23 and tomorrow the 24th here in Taiwan. Mountains have snow today. Taipei's Yangmingshan (your team went there last time you were here) also have them. 🥶 Congratulations on Ants Canada! I guess you'll be hosting the Travis family soon.
if you plan on planting tomatoes here is a tip to get a huge amount from few plants, first go down to the beach and get some seaweed and kelp, take it home and wash it well and chop it up put it about six to eight inches down from top let sit for two to three weeks and then plant tomato plants. we did this and from four plants we got 11 grocery bags full of tomatoes and our so called cherry tomatoes were the size of a mandarin orange
i think i know the special family... i'm guessing judy & benji's fam since they'll have an event in manila 🥰 if so atleast now they'll be here for a good time now🥺🥰
You are such a busy man with all your vlogs and running a farm but make sure you don't burn yourself out Mikey, I know you love what you do but make sure you take time to breathe and rest, much love to you all! ❤
Speaking of colors, dark colors will absorb heat so it might be a good idea to paint the chicken pen, especially the roof, a lighter color which will repel heat.
you can also give your chickens some table scraps, like if you were to compost some veggies scraps, give it to the chickens, the chickens will absolutely love that!
I originally watched your antscanda channel because i love animals and you made me realize how interesting and underappreciated they are. But i was hooked in to your vlogs because of just how much nature is integrated into your life. Its so inspiring too! Can’t wait for the peacocks and sailfin dragons if u ever decide to get em! Also the snake last video that you caught was a bronzeback-non venomous.
Slate turkeys are stunning as well and they will help keep the snakes down too i heard, not positive tho lol my dad had then with ring neck pheasants!! ♥
Love walking around the farm & visiting all the animals with you even tho it's in the vlog!!! All your animals are so lucky to have you & RJ & your staff taking care of them!!!
You need more straw in the nest boxes. The eggs need a cushion so they don’t get broken. And yes, a hen will lay on another chickens eggs. It’s that pecking order thing. Good luck! I wish I could have chickens,
Micky I watch all your channels and every one of them are brilliant and it really don’t matter when you put your videos up as you are more important than anything and I for one think your amazing ❤😘 🇬🇧
Hello Mikey, long time watcher but first time commenter here 🙌 Always love how considerate and loving you’ve been to your animals ❤ Chickens are such sweethearts! I’m so happy you started keeping them (moreover you chose silkies! they’re absolute cuties) You can try to bond with them by giving them veggies and mealworms as treats, they’d love it and will flock to you (some will even hop on your lap/shoulder to demand pets eventually haha)
Awesome to see what you have done happy animals. Please make sure the guinea pigs are separated from the rabbits area rabbit carry disease you dnt want the guinea pigs to get, so a different area like the area under the stairs would be great for them. Guinea pig also need alot of vitamin C food sweet pepper should be feed daily. They can eat whole bananas too skin and all for a treat. Hopefully they are all females too. Both rabbits and guinea pigs needed a huge pile of dry hay as its there main food and keeps teeth in good health. They also love burrowing into hay to sleep and feel safe.
I bet Vanilla vines would thrrrive in the songbird aviary. It takes years to mature to harvest but its fun to know your growing your own vanilla beans. And the scents❤
I grew up in the country and we raised chickens. Most were pets for egg laying, but some were for food only. Hens only lay 1 egg per day. Even if the egg is fertilized if it isn't incubated it won't develop into a chicken.
You should change your seed mix. I see a lot of sunflower seeds in it. They contain a lot to much fat for your song birds. I really like the vlogs when you talk about your animals.
I have never watched any of your videos on AC, but the new serie! I'm addicted to watch. I can't wait for a new episode, so you are welcome to use all the time you need, because we enjoy it 100% really professional and good serie. Like directly from National geographic TV 🥰 and your vlogs here, I enjoy every second. If you ask me, your vlogs can be longer, please 💪😊 I love your animals, your family and your house. Thank you for letting us follow your life 😊
We went out camping in a farm and they have peacocks that are free roaming around the area. We woke up with their sound and saw 1 on the roof. They're always fascinating and gorgeous. Hope you could get a couple or few, that would be lovely!
I don't like the cold I like the summer I still like to have a cool place I can sometimes feel a bit sickly when it gets to hot. Loved to days vidio. Love from uk.
you don't owe us anything, it's already a privilege na shinashare mo yung buhay mo samin kuya mikey, your vlogs feels like a breathe of fresh air na naamoy ko yung amoy ng poo ng kambing, ng smell ng forest, with matching tilaok ng manok ganorn! thank youuuu kuya mikey and kuya rj! luvvv&hugsss from Qatar!
Mikey you have your nesting box on floor, remove it keep inside the cage or on top. hen doesnt want to be disturb during laying eggs and the rooster will not bother them during that time. There is no hormones on regular feeds except if you will give them laying mass feeds for them to lay more eggs
The eggs in the egg box are large sized eggs, Silky chicken are small eggs. Any rooster can and will get all his girls one way or the other. If they are fertilized you wont see any babies inside for at least 12 days as they usually will brood once all the eggs they think are going to be able to lay on top, you may see a small spot inside the eggs, that would be the start but wont grow till under a hen for at least 21 days. I have Brahma hens and a couple roosters, as well I have an incubator that I will put 30 eggs inside and hatch out babies, the rest go to my friends and neighbors. I love my chicken eggs, they are mostly free range(not much chicken food) which allows them to have the darkest yolks and they are really, really yummy. Hope you have a great day.
Chickens lays eggs anyway, with or without a rooster. And you have to collect the eggs every day before they start to develop 😂 it look and taste the same as not fertile egg 🥚 🙏
Hey Mikey! I worked on a feedmill before. Regarding the feeds that you give to the chicken, it depends on what kind of feeds you are giving the chicken. If you dont like to have "hormones" in the feeds, you have to give them the finisher feeds. The starter and grower feeds are the ones with additives intended to help the chicken have their "vitamins" as they grow. Hope this helps.
Wish there was a way to tell you that you don't need to be sorry about your schedule. You produce amazing content and I think that we can all agree the content is more important than punctuality. It's cool to see you prosper. Keep up the great work!
It's not just about us though. The YT algorithms go brrrr better for creators if they can stick to a schedule.

I really love your nesting boxes!
Thanks!
home eggs totally taste better than store bought! likely because pet chickens generally have a more varied diet with bugs and table scraps etc, while the poor farm chickens are on a more or less entirely pellet/grain diet.
Winner ang Dad joke ni Daddy! Benta sa ‘kin. Great vlogs Mikey! Love the growing farm!
Love our homestead and APPRECIATION vibes, thank you🦚
FYI, when you transport trees/plants in the back of your truck, the wind desiccates the leaves & bruises the new growth. From experience, I wrap the tops of trees or leaves of bushes with plastic as protection from wind destruction. Sometimes I lay the trees down with crumbled newspaper stuffed on top of the soil & then cover with tarp. I love everything you do including AntsCanada.
Wow.. lovely to see your chicken laying eggs...
In Japan. There's a farm na pinapakain nila ng Paprika yung mga farm chickens... Lumalasa sya sa egg.. it is one of the most pricey egg
Interesting! And yes, haha the diamond doves are SUCH pigeons! They coo non-stop!
@@MikeyBustosVLOGS Ah so they're also like the local Zebra Dove species then that coo non-stop whenever they can; actually makes it easy to find them in the neighborhood whenever I go birdwatching.
Pls kindly also feature sugar glider ❤ it’s been a while
feels like I'm having virtual pets with you guys, thanks!!!enjoyed watching your vlogs.
Thanks for the positivity always Mikey and Rj hope one day u can also vlog abt the vets checking on the animals ... Can't wait to see ur mom again in Mabuhay farmhouse with everybody... ❤❤❤❤
Mikey, you really need to slow down at times. Everyone deserves to rest, too. We love your vlogs. Keep it going! :) More power.
So galing! 😊
Speaking of Phils. getting hot, it's the coldest day of winter today Jan. 23 and tomorrow the 24th here in Taiwan. Mountains have snow today. Taipei's Yangmingshan (your team went there last time you were here) also have them. 🥶
Congratulations on Ants Canada!
I guess you'll be hosting the Travis family soon.
if you plan on planting tomatoes here is a tip to get a huge amount from few plants, first go down to the beach and get some seaweed and kelp, take it home and wash it well and chop it up put it about six to eight inches down from top let sit for two to three weeks and then plant tomato plants. we did this and from four plants we got 11 grocery bags full of tomatoes and our so called cherry tomatoes were the size of a mandarin orange
you can mix your own feeds using pelletizer if you want or use other natural feeds. but it takes more work to make your own feeds
i think i know the special family... i'm guessing judy & benji's fam since they'll have an event in manila 🥰 if so atleast now they'll be here for a good time now🥺🥰
You are such a busy man with all your vlogs and running a farm but make sure you don't burn yourself out Mikey, I know you love what you do but make sure you take time to breathe and rest, much love to you all! ❤
I love animals and this makes me love watching your vlogs more ❤️
Speaking of colors, dark colors will absorb heat so it might be a good idea to paint the chicken pen, especially the roof, a lighter color which will repel heat.
you can also give your chickens some table scraps, like if you were to compost some veggies scraps, give it to the chickens, the chickens will absolutely love that!
I wonder how many birds had to of crashed into the glass before they added the decals and swirls?
Love your vibe, personality and love for animals. take care of yourself.
I get you Mikey! Too much to deal with in the winter time! Wet and cold is not for me either!😃
Slate turkeys are stunning as well and they will help keep the snakes down too i heard, not positive tho lol my dad had then with ring neck pheasants!! ♥
Love the Tim's cup. Only Canadians will know
Yay! Mommy is coming! Can’t wait to see her on your vlog! And the dogs are going to be sooo happy!👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀
Love walking around the farm & visiting all the animals with you even tho it's in the vlog!!!
All your animals are so lucky to have you & RJ & your staff taking care of them!!!
AntsCanada videos are well worth waiting for. So if it takes a few extra days, GREAT! Only means an even better episode (if that's possible)
Hi Mikey. You can eat fertilized eggs. They are not developed. The yellow color shows how healthy the chickens are fed.
You need more straw in the nest boxes. The eggs need a cushion so they don’t get broken. And yes, a hen will lay on another chickens eggs. It’s that pecking order thing. Good luck! I wish I could have chickens,
There is an ointment to help the bunnies ears also. Please add lots of hay for the pigs and rabbits too!❤
I think a head-high metal fence made from black or dark-brown vertical bars with gaps would look amazing and be quite neutral design-wise.
I hope its the Travis family! love you guys!
Maybe fans and shade cloth for the outdoor aviaries?
Micky I watch all your channels and every one of them are brilliant and it really don’t matter when you put your videos up as you are more important than anything and I for one think your amazing ❤😘 🇬🇧
Enjoy the warm weather we are in the middle of snow storm in southern Ontario today.
How about putting ang tube that makes or creates a mist for summer ..like in japan f its summer they have this water tube called mist
I really like the vlogs when you talk about your animals.
also it will good to have the sink to attach a hose for plants watering times
I have never watched any of your videos on AC, but the new serie! I'm addicted to watch. I can't wait for a new episode, so you are welcome to use all the time you need, because we enjoy it 100% really professional and good serie. Like directly from National geographic TV 🥰 and your vlogs here, I enjoy every second. If you ask me, your vlogs can be longer, please 💪😊 I love your animals, your family and your house. Thank you for letting us follow your life 😊
You should put some guppies or something in the fountain in the aviary!! ❤
Caramilk is like Girardhelli chocolate with caramel! From San Francisco!!😀😋😋😋
His narration and dubbing of the animals are so funny, i love the vibes here hahahaha
Congratulations on trending Ants Canada! 🎉🎊👏👍
Take as much time as you need for videos. We love and appreciate the hard work. Awesome work!!
Mikey you have your nesting box on floor, remove it keep inside the cage or on top. hen doesnt want to be disturb during laying eggs and the rooster will not bother them during that time. There is no hormones on regular feeds except if you will give them laying mass feeds for them to lay more eggs
Hi Mikey !I'm happy to watch your video about all animals in your farm house 🏠 I really love as I grow up as a farmer family in negros oriental
i love the finches and canarys! so colourfull and they sound so lovelly amplified by the walls
I hope we can go and see your farm's pets
I believe the purple vine is morning glory. It grows like crazy anywhere!
Yes, that's it!!! So invasive!
You can use alibangbang leaves for sinigang, same as sampalok leaves. It tastes sour 😊
Yes there are hormones in the feed thats what they usually use for like 45 days the big fat ones you can feed corn or scraps HOPE YOU SEE THIS
So nice to hear the rooster !
