I hope you all enjoyed this video. Couldn't have asked for better conditions. My 2022 calendar is available, but on Friday I will turn off shipping for a week as I won't be here: thomasheaton.co.uk/product/2022-calendar/
Would just like to say - don't ever feel embarrassed or shy, or "hippy" about sharing your thoughts about your work. I personally really appreciate the insights behind your shots - and I'm sure many of your viewers do too! Anyways, best wishes Tom and keep up the good work 🙂
I've been a photographer for over 30 years, and I wanted to thank you for what you've taught me and the inspiration you instill. I received the calendars and they're magnificent! I'm leaving very early in the morning to drive a few hours to board a chartered 3 hr flight on a helicopter, I'll be shooting and videoing the North Shore of Lake Superior, inland lakes and rivers. I'll then be camping for nearly two weeks and live amongst the spectacular Fall colors!! tc
Amazing and mystery. why so unsure, luckily we don't have the weather under control yet. why the perfect picture, this is what you get from nature so beautiful just and a beautiful piece of nature.❤
"Just get out there and the gods of creativity will shine upon you." Thank you I needed this. Work has been hard this last month and a half and I've been too tired to hunt something down. But you're right, I should just go out. Instead of finding something, something will find me.
Thanks for another great video Thomas. I particularly liked your retrospective on planned vs spontaneous shooting. I just returned from two weeks in Iceland. Instead of doing the 'ring road' and going to the 'iconic' locations that millions of the photographers go to every year (I did that 5 years ago and loved it), I spent two weeks in the Westfjords. No research. No location planning. I just winged it. I loved every second. Exploring, finding my own shots, dealing with virtually no 'destination locations for photographers' and challenging myself to make the most out of a location that I haven't researched and planned. It was a lot of fun just getting out there and not stressing about getting a specific shot in perfect light conditions etc. Thanks again Thomas. Very inspiring video.
Beautiful and calming morning shots! Sometimes the creative gods tap your shoulder, and sometimes Nigel's or James', but when they do, you've done an amazing job of listening to them. I need to create some totems or offerings or something to see if I can get a few to visit me in Southern California.....
The great thing about the second image that the lake is not obvious in the background, it could be also the sky. So it tricks my mind and i really like this kind of photography. Great images Thomas, as always!
Actually the bit you stopped yourself talking about the universe was the bit I was really engaged with and drawn to! Totally get it! Amazing conditions and solid sage advice. So often I find myself wandering aimlessly like a cloud.... Oh wait, now I'm getting all hippy 😂☁️🌥️
your message is clear "Get outside" countless times we look at the conditions in the moment n say nahh not today, for it all to change and you kick yourself. its like doing the lotto all excited getting the ticket your heart rate is up checking the numbers then bang your crest fallen . But the odd time bang you get your money back at least.
Thomas - I must say that this is one of my favorite videos you have done. I loved the photos, especially the first one, very minimalistic. The reason I like this video so much is that it seemed so spontaneous. You show up at location that you had no plans to go to, to incredible light and pull off some wonderful photos. Well done my friend. This is photography for the rest the world. This is how we mere mortals do things. And masterfully you did not spend too much time talking about it. Thank you. Please make more videos like this one. Just go out and shoot.
I spent most of the latest days watching your videos and i absolutely love them, i love the fact that you do actual photographic adventures instead of pointless tutorials or life hack videos and i love how you gat carried by your passion. But most of all i love how your photos are pure, many people just take a shit picture and totally flip it by adding things that weren't there or creating light that wasn't there on lightroom or photoshop. That makes them photoshop artists, not photographers.
Just when I was thinking not going out this weekend and lying on the couch all weekend long, you Mr. Heaton inspired me once again to take my camera and get out. Thank you very much. You have always been inspiration to me.
Thanks Tom.. enjoyed the process. I.. we've all likely struggled with the doubt but 'you can't win if you don't play' is how I usually get my ass up. Beautiful frames.
Thomas, I think your videos are so interesting because you’re genuinely interested in your viewers and truly appreciate them. Indeed, your commentary is so compelling because of your direct and honest approach. Keep up the great work, my friend! You’re an inspiration to us all!
Hello listen to this important and life changing opportunity, I would like to tell the importance of investment, I invested little, now I got enough profit to testify, I think crypto is the best, if you want to know more information about crypto drop your email address now!!
Hello Tom from California! There are always moments of total surprise …being there when light and fog (my favorite) are just right. A camper van definitely help. I like that you’re very open to experimenting…🙂
Where would we be without intuition? no artists, no architects, no designers, Tom you are an artist/architect/designer of photography you see and you make, while others walk on by, thank you for the tuition and the inspiration to "get out there". Good video keep teaching and showing the real beauty we walk by every day.
Half the battle is just getting out. Satan's goal is to kill, steal and destroy. He does that by telling us we're no good, stay home, go tomorrow, you don't feel up to it, etc. I know I battle with those attacks as I recover from a major heart attack (that I had while photographing a choir no less). Thanks for your openness and your inspiring videos Tom.
Awesome vid as always. Just an FYI though that Reservoir is used by the RAF/USAF for very low flying Monday to Friday. Your drone was high enough to get hit if one passed through. Just something to bear in mind 👍
Thanks for this video, it has inspired me to go to the Lake District this weekend for photography. I hope the weather conditions are as good, if not I’ll make the best of what I’m given. Also, some nice images there 👌
Absolutely beautiful mate! I need to get back out and do some photography or videography in my van. Your video is soooo impressive it has my juices flowing again! Thank you.
If you wanna do it ... Just go...do..it. Bonkers bonsai-ish wide shot works for me. I know it wasn't a bonsai, but the angle you took gave the impression, which also suit minimalist re background. Glad you did some wide ones, not everything is square! 👌👌👌📷
In addition to the content, always appreciable, it is your humility and sincerity that makes the difference in approaching the fabulous "Universe"... of Photographic Art. Well done.
This was a great video Thomas! The water was so calm it looked like glass. Beautiful images captured throughout this. Don't think I'll go catching my drone anytime soon. Ouch! Love watching your content as it inpires me to get out. Ive been in isolation for the last 10 days so Ive not been anywhere to capture anything! Tomorrow I have freedom so I'll be out with something new. I love the way you storytell through your videos. Love the van Thomas! Great little space and beats the tent lol. Thanks for sharing! I look forward to watching.
I'm truly envious of your fog! That was some beautiful amazing stuff. (We don't get fog here often. ) And I'm very glad you got a photo you liked of the tree. I love gnarly old trees like that. Sometimes though it's tricky to show them in the way that really makes them stand out. Congrats on the inspiration from your photography muse. 🙂👍
Wonderful!! I was gutted at first lol I went past here last weekend after a day in the glorious trees, made a note and plan to head back and grab a video and hopefully walk out to one of the islands. So chuffed for you and to get those conditions, lots of gorgeous shots and wow! That last shot 😍👌 wonderful! As always Tom a pleasure to watch and I will be going back to shoot even tho you smashed its back doors in 😂 the message at the end, one of my mantras. Be open to everything.
Yes! The image is there, I just need to find it! Thanks for the inspiring - me as you always do. Funny to receive a non-Amazon-looking package. Oh my...What is this?? Hey it's my calendar! Hate to wish-away time, but now I can't wait until January. Oh wait, I live I'm Wisconsin USA. Do I really want January weather? Maybe I'll just pretend. Ah, that's better. So glad I ordered it. Thanks Thomas!
Letting yourself be open I learned years ago from Jay Maisel. Tom you are right on the money. I have experienced the same feeling sooooo many times, and came back with images I had never thought of. And yea also came back with nothing, a lot of nothings. But the something that might be out there keeps me coming back. Great video my friend, stay safe!
Just want to say, I love your videos. I found your channel when I spent a week watching nothing but camper van videos, so of course I stumbled across your van build series. It was so fun watching your entire build, I then wanted to see you put the van in action, so I started watching the next videos where you took the van out on adventures. I soon realized though, that your photography content was just as interesting (if not more so). I have been now working my way through older videos along with every new one. I have also ordered both the book and the calendar, and they showed up recently and are amazing. Your work is really inspiring, and I am very much getting the urge to get a camera myself and give it a shot. Thank you for what you do, and keep it up!
That's awesome, thanks a lot for not only watching, but ordering my book and calendar too. I hope you keep enjoying the content as i usually mege van stuff with photography, and you should totally get a camera. It will change your life.
Cheers for this excellent video. Like many before it, btw. I really enjoyed your "conclusion". I've have felt many times the same about going out and searching for a photo spot. The nagging feeling of "it's not worth it..." ect.... If you want to capture good/great photos you have to get out there and take photos. Thanks for your videos and I'm looking forward to your next ones.
I hope you all enjoyed this video. Couldn't have asked for better conditions. My 2022 calendar is available, but on Friday I will turn off shipping for a week as I won't be here: thomasheaton.co.uk/product/2022-calendar/
Iiiibiiii
@@Audion if you've watched some of his previous vids, he has 2 CO sensors in the van plus he leaves the van door ajar while cooking.
Hello. Small problem with my calendar. How and where I can talk about this? Thank you in advance!
I already have my calendar, cheers Thomas!
Got your calendar for the third year in a row - so excited when it arrived - it’s beautiful as always. JoAnne
Would just like to say - don't ever feel embarrassed or shy, or "hippy" about sharing your thoughts about your work. I personally really appreciate the insights behind your shots - and I'm sure many of your viewers do too! Anyways, best wishes Tom and keep up the good work 🙂
Indeed. That's one of the reason why I'm sticking around.
Honesty is Bravery
Those real moments of emotion are the reason we watch
That's what it's all about. Sometimes it all comes together, but you have to give yourself a chance and get out there. Beautiful images...
Wow! What a morning. What images! What a photographer! And solid advice for we viewers. That was fun! Thanks!
LOVE that tree! Reminds me of my gran's old Bonsai Tree. Nature really is amazing aye.
I always bring my macro lense as a back up.
When there isn't a landscape shot, there is almost always a macro you can shoot. ...but that's just me.
I've been a photographer for over 30 years, and I wanted to thank you for what you've taught me and the inspiration you instill. I received the calendars and they're magnificent! That last photo is the best imo. Beautiful.
Those calendar pics depicts as great hand arts. Excellent piece of work. The January and December snaps are superb
"Just get out there and the gods of creativity will shine upon you." Thank you I needed this.
Work has been hard this last month and a half and I've been too tired to hunt something down. But you're right, I should just go out. Instead of finding something, something will find me.
Thank you for not turning back. I did enjoy the video and, as always, your photography inspires me.
Nailed it, Thomas. Past few videos have been right on the money. Wonderful images, wonderful production. Thanks.
You never disappoint, Thomas. You hippy, you.
wow🥺
I thought the first image is the best until I saw the last one. That's a wonderful world and a great picture of it!
Nothing better than spontaneous locations!
best day of the week, especially good to watch on a miserably rainy day. Can't wait to get back out and shoot.
Nice images. Love the magic of the fog. So glad you got out.

Lovely shots and great message :)
Wow, what a morning!
Keep following your instincts. Your work is solid evidence it pays off. Loved the early morning fog and mist shots.
👍😎👍 Very enjoyable as always.
I wasn't expecting the calendar to come across the pond already. Looks great!
Great video. The first image was my favourite. Definitely ‘other worldly’ Brilliant.
Fantastic images in a beautiful location, calendar has arrived for mum to hopefully celebrate her 90th year !!
Nice!! Wish her a happy birthday from me 🎉🎉
Enjoy watching the details of your travels.♥️
The great thing about the second image that the lake is not obvious in the background, it could be also the sky. So it tricks my mind and i really like this kind of photography. Great images Thomas, as always!
Cheers for another video and another adventure. Always appreciate your insight no matter if it's hippy.
Amazing! Amazing photos!!!! Simple but powerful!!!!
Thanks Thomas, I really needed to hear your thoughts at the end.
"You've got to be in it to win it" as you've said before. Also you spook my kids every time with that scene of the van in the dark with the howl.
Thomas, in my opinion, the gnarly tree is the best picture you did. It was great!
The Photography God's smiled upon you 😎
Such a class act...always...thoroughly enjoyed video, and final take-away thoughts.

Great photography advise. Love, love, love the photos. Even the gnarly tree was a keeper.

Only one thing to say 'truly stunning'.
Hello Tom from California! There are always moments of total surprise …being there when light and fog (my favorite) are just right.
A camper van definitely help. I like that you’re very open to experimenting…🙂
You love your square cropped images Thomas. They do like good too. Nice video. Lovely to see you, travelling around the lakes.
Unbelievable photos, incredible photographer !
I love what you did with the gnarly tree. Magnifique!

I'm here for the hippy introspection. It's my favorite part of your channel.
Wow,your images are breathtaking!I wish we had areas to capture photos like these, well done!👏👏
Wonderful images and video Thomas! Thanks so much!

I have been struggling to get myself out recently, so thanks for addressing this!
In addition to the content, always appreciable, it is your humility and sincerity that makes the difference in approaching the fabulous "Universe"... of Photographic Art. Well done.
Great video Thomas. I like the way you don't over use your drone footage: just enough to set the scene and give context.
All the best :-)
Thirlmere Reservoir. Lovely images Tom, have spent many hours there.
Tom, you are such an inspiration 👍 thank you 👊
Thank you SO much for all the effort you put into these videos! It’s greatly appreciated and very inspirational!

Good thoughts Tom. Great to see you so inspired after the summer greens. MJ
Great videos. Really inspiring. Love the way you shoot the set ups. Love your work

Wery inspiring. Thanx Thomas.
Wow so beautiful
Tom, you really seem to be in your element these past few weeks!
Nice weather, nice locations. It's hard not to create nice stuff. Don't worry, it goes South next week 🙄
