    Rest In Peace to the great Betty Wright! A real trailblazer. And I had to come edit my comment and say I completely expected your reaction to that F7 and it still tickled me 🤣

    My friend, I have to agree with you. It's sad and unfortunate that singers like Mrs Betty Wright never got the attention they deserved while younger less talented singers blow up bigger than life. They don't make them like this anymore. And it's sad. Most people think of Mariah Carey when it comes to whistle notes, but Mrs. Betty was doing them before Mariah was born. And just like you said how can you not know her name.

      Minnie ripperton also no need to bring up Mariah people know others was doing it before Mariah .

    I hate to start with a negative but the audience was trash! Betty on stage killing it and only one person look excited. One lady give a prissy clap and at the end dude sitting with his arms folded. This was definitely a standing ovation performance. Anyway, I always loved this song. Much respect to the late Betty with her AMAZING range and coaching abilities. I hope you do a reaction to a Deniece Williams video one day.

    I love the Blues, but this song is toxic af. My Mother and Father were married 45 years before she passed away and she would be playing this when my Father was being trash. Once I realized what was going on I outright told her to beat Daddy up. Lol

    I don't know how far you're willing to go back into American gospel history but, I've looked at your entire list of videos and didn't see Mavis Staples and The Staple Singers. They were one of the best gospel groups of the 1950s they came out of Chicago with Aretha Franklin and many other gpspel greats. The Staples are a family gospel group, so their voices blend like the Clarks, but Mavis is the star she has the most unique voice you'll ever hear in your life. Mavis is the only living member of the group and she's still touring at over 80yrs old, she is epic Well I can't say that she's touring since COVID but she was before COVID lock downs. There's a documentary on HBO MAX about her and her family right now you should watch it. Pop Staples grew up in the Mississippi delta, learned guitar from blues men like Howling Wolf, and mixed that gritty delta blues with traditional southern gospel. Pops Staples and his children took their sound would wide. It's truly indescribable. They did cross over to secular and r&b music in the 70s and 80s, and those songs are just as good. Please take a look at The Staples Singers, you won't be sorry.

      I love the Staple Singers. Their performance of The Weight with The Band from The Last Waltz was dreamy. Mavis is one of a kind and pops had such a cool laid back style 🥰

    • @covertLLC
      @covertLLC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheCharlieSmithChannel I'm so glad to hear you know about, and love the Staples. You certainly don't look old enough to have seen or even know about their classic performances in movies like "The Last Waltz" or "Let's Do It Again" which are going on 50yrs old now. Pops has a style that can't be duplicated like Mavis' voice, I'm sure your viewers would love to take a stroll down memory lane with you and the Staples family. I absolutely love your reviews ❤ and would appreciate you doing a review on them when, and if you get the time to do so. If not I'll still watch your reviews just the same.

    I love Betty Wright since ' Clean up Women,' when this song came out, so a while a go. I do not like your reaction, because you don't show to much respect to her. All this stupid breaks. Let this woman sing, let the people LISTEN, and right after this give your commentar. Okay fellow.

    • @hurtspublishing3906

      That's his style. It called live reaction. Let him show how shocked he was. He only the one who kept pausing cause others did the same. Like key first time I saw it I had to rewind it like five times before I played the whole song
