As a 30 year old. I remember my dad having this album playing CONSTANTLY on cassette in his car. Every time I hear a song off this album, I think about sitting in the passenger seat as we drove through lower Manhattan in the late 80s' early 90's to pick up my mom from work every evening. Talk is Cheap will ALWAYS have a special spot in my heart. It will always be one of those albums that gives me nothing but fond memories.
Keith always was the heart of the Stones sound. His solo stuff always sounds like the Stones-compared to Jagger’s solo stuff that usually did not have that Stones sound.
Keith,is sounding amazing. Keith you are coming in blazing hot 🔥. You definitely deliver on rock and roll 🎉🎉. This song and album is a Masterpiece 🎉🎉. Life is a struggles🎉🎉.Keith you are hitting on some real shit, but you always do.
you can tell who the real star of the Stones is/was--Jagger and Richards came out with solo albums around the same time. Jagger's flopped. "Talk is Cheap" is indeed a masterpiece and one of my top 10 perfect albums of all time.
Came here to find this clip after seeing G.E. Smith's interview talking about this night and how Keith gave G.E. the finger from behind the stage curtain as a token of respect because G.E. was killing it in the performance during the band shot before Keith and The Winos took the stage.
I watched this when it aired and up until now thought he was playing through the Marshall stack but he actually was playing through his MESA/Boogie MkI combo.
This band is so badass - at the time this aired I remember thinking HEY! The drummer and bassist switched places... I for one, love this performance. .::g
Always got a kick out of Keith's moves on this one when he starts in on the riff and watching Waddy Wachtel in the background sway his shoulders and suddenly looks back at the drummer when the beat drops in is just pure joy.
Tone is OFF ?? Tone is FUCKING PERFECT !!!! Dirty and raunchy, but still clear enough to pick up the notes in each chord. At times blurring the lines between music and total cacaphony. Pure rock and roll, at it's absolute finest ...
i escaped from the Army and i was organised a car to take me away and i was a flashpoint in any case and when i sat on the backseat huuuge riff started STRUGGLE.amazing journey.Keef knows human feelings,he is a lighthouse for a human brains.
I would love to see some of these critics get up on stage and do this... Keith Richards is the soul of The Stones... if you don't get it, then stay the hell away.............
I lived upstairs at the Paramount theatre in Seattle helped the winos load their gear Keith's the lyric writer and can sing blues and belt out on the fender strat great fucking show
I've a Midwest hayseed from Iowa and have been to the Paramount in Seattle. I've got a day job and some chops. How'd you score a joint upstairs Bother Bob? That is absolutely ^#()&%$! Great!
Some reason in 88 I couldn’t attend the show… I was a Finish Carpenter in Hollywood working at Roger Corman studios in Venice Beach. The scenic artist I worked with Beth was Keith Richards scenic artist. I can’t believe I didn’t catch KEITH’s show. I play oboe and Guitar. I’ve seen most of the stones shows since Anaheim Stadium for some girls 1978 both shows :-) best concert I ever went to :-) Pink Floyd the wall at the cow Palace was cool too :-)
Great performance!! I remember seeing this as a kid, I taped it and would get so pumped up when I would watch it. He looks like he is having the time of his life😘
Saw this band I Vancouver many years ago...he is my all time hero and I fought my way to the stage to be close...he gave me a fucking high five!..I touched God!...best moment of my life!..the only thing that ever came close to that feeling was slapping buddy guy on the back when he came into the crowd...
It doesn't get any better than this! Pure unadulterated raunchy rock from the Master himself... Keef! Please post "Take It So Hard" from the same show brother.
paulpaulpaulify "The drummer" was an original member of the house band on Letterman from '82-'85 or '86. Hooked up with Richards in '86 for Chuck Berry's 60th birthday celebration gig in St. Louis, which produced the 1987 concert film Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll!
Keith ia as Rough as a dirty ass dog. All heart and sharp as mother f8ckin knife. Great performance ! SNL - WOW- SNL should have them on again... Wine O's !!
That sound, something special and unmistakably Keith. Heard this performance on SNL in October '88 and ran out and looked for the the tape the next day. Upgraded to the CD and been enjoying it ever since. Thanks for reviving those memories.
The drummer Steve Jordan and bassist is I think Charlie Drayton. They both played with Neil Young on his SNL appearance almost exactly a year later and that one hit it out of the park remarkably well too. No coincidence there I guess haha.
I remember sitting in my room, chewing Red Man, and watching this when I was in the eighth grade. If you like this, you might like the band I am in now: "The Skanky Skunks." You can check us out on Facebook. So cool to be able to watch this again!! :)
Richard always said he didn't like to do solo career. He always likes to belong to the band that was born. That's why I don't focus so much on solo either. Jagger soloer I get a lot of hits. But Richard's record in 2015 was amazing, great songs and he did it overnight while touring with the Rolling Stones
Anyone remember the opening number, "Take It So Hard" and Steve Jordan played bass and Charlie Drayton was at the drum kit? I shit you not. Should've been called Keith Richard and the Swiss Army Band.
One of Keith's best performances. Never get tired of it!!
I agree, this is great!

Great story !
Stay healthy !
Good story
1988 !!it was his first solo album every song was strong ! he toured behind it in 1989!
Your dad was a cool man!
Keith always was the heart of the Stones sound. His solo stuff always sounds like the Stones-compared to Jagger’s solo stuff that usually did not have that Stones sound.
Cuz he is the heart of the stones, I think I wore out like 10 cassette versions of this album lol. Try his second outing Main Offender.
Incredible album. All Hail Keith Richards. Pure genius.
The tightest lose band ever. Fantastic rhythm, swing and feel by the entire band.
泣けてくるほどかっこいい😭
You can't top the Greatness of Keith Richards ...

His guitar tone is SAVAGE

Absolutely slaying it. Steve Jordan's snare is cracking!
Siempre alma de stone
Sounds like Charlie W....makes Keef feel right at home.
It's a Poppin' and a Crackin'‼️🥁🎶

What a performance! Happy they got over shit.
Keith put together a hell of a band here…
The X-pensive Winos. Take It So Hard is the best song they ever wrote together.
Sweet video. No one plays choppy chords like Keith. classic.
He is the essence of rock and roll. Rawness of this song is unparalleled. Heaven!!
WOW Keef at his best. The sound off that Tele is unbelievable.
Beautifully ratty, it is!
I watched this when it aired and up until now thought he was playing through the Marshall stack but he actually was playing through his MESA/Boogie MkI combo.
this mans sense of rhythm is amazing
This is one of the best performances of this song out there. I wish there was a higher quality video available. So good!
This band is so badass - at the time this aired I remember thinking HEY! The drummer and bassist switched places... I for one, love this performance.

This man and his music makes me still play rock n roll every single day, what a great band and vibe to learn from and play along to. Respect 🤘🏻🎸
Tone is OFF ?? Tone is FUCKING PERFECT !!!! Dirty and raunchy, but still clear enough to pick up the notes in each chord. At times blurring the lines between music and total cacaphony. Pure rock and roll, at it's absolute finest ...
YES 👍
"blurring the lines between music and total cacaphony" -- BEST comment on TH-cam!
I love this because it almost sounds like reggae on a heavy dose of rock and roll cocaine
Contractnik Great comment 👏👏👏 you have really described keef sound
That right there is a genre unto itself....richard's reggae rock! Yo Waddy!!!
The Winos did a few pure reggae numbers as well..
i escaped from the Army and i was organised a car to take me away and i was a flashpoint in any case and when i sat on the backseat huuuge riff started STRUGGLE.amazing journey.Keef knows human feelings,he is a lighthouse for a human brains.

That Telecaster is freaking awesome in looks and in tone🎸
Big ass Happy Birthday to the Sage of All Times - The Immortal Keith Richards. Struggle - What a riff.
I love Keith's solo stuff, much more than the last 2 studio albums of the Stones frankly...
Man I wish there was a higher quality vid of this.

During the 80s, Keith's vocal talent peaked. Amazing.
He did some fine work in the 70s as well.
Under rated band. They were fantastic. Anyone else notice Waddy on SNL this past Saturday. Still playing with Stevie Nicks.
Im 55 and grew up listening to the Stones as my parents were fans. Keith is the best rhythm guitar player ever.
Keith Richards is Rock N Roll !!!

Whoa, go Keith! If you close your eyes and didn't know better you might this this was the Clash at their best

Keef Riff-hard. Rocks it out here.
could it be any better, I don't think so. Keef I love you!
Keith..the riffmaster👏👍
beautiful
Incredible. Richards solo career so much better than jagger.
Richard always said he didn't like to do solo career. He always likes to belong to the band that was born. That's why I don't focus so much on solo either. Jagger soloer I get a lot of hits. But Richard's record in 2015 was amazing, great songs and he did it overnight while touring with the Rolling Stones
Damn this is awesome what a groove! The Stones are the greatest but Keith's solo material is far superior to Mick's.
there on fire here
I see Rock 'n Roll, walkin' like a man . . .
fuck that's amazing, never shouldv gotten back with the stones, i can only imagine 20 more years of this KEEF
He is pretty frigging good! I am surprised he didn't do more solo work.
Anyone remember the opening number, "Take It So Hard" and Steve Jordan played bass and Charlie Drayton was at the drum kit? I shit you not. Should've been called Keith Richard and the Swiss Army Band.
Thanks for sharing -this is cool
Who is watching Keith Richards in 2020?
i'm watching in 2024 if that helps
The fact that he is still alive is amazing to me.
