The colors of Gasharpoon and what they might represent: Ahab: Orange, Lust Her overwhelming desire and obsession to destroy the Pallid Whale. The driving force that consumes the rest to share her singular obsession. Pip: Blue, Gloom Distraught over Stubb's death, he is unable to overcome his own sadness. Starbuck: Green, Gluttony/Greed Clings to the promise of monetary value. It is the only way he keeps what remains of his sanity, a belief that so long as he will have money at the end of the journey, his suffering will have been worth it. Queqeeg: Purple, Envy She sees Ishmael's life and her freedom, even if Ishmael does not see it herself. Queqeeg wishes for a life she does not and can not have because of her own past and beliefs.

Rewatching this it's honestly kinda insane how a mere ticking clock can help to sell so much emotion. I don't know how, genuinely not a clue, but Dante trying his best to set Ishmael on the right path with a tick tock tick tock hits me so close to home even now.
The Captain who was a nobody yet cherished her crew, against the thing that made her that way, a glutton of revenge so distorted mentally that her influence spreads like the Pallid Infection of the beast they clash Harpoons in. Both missing their compass….. but yet there is hope… One remembers those dissolved and devoured away in strangling white membranes, and will chart a path clear for her crew with her own Compass, a path of hope using her compass of someone who reclaimed their broken wings, someone with words to say to the one they love…. And us clockheaded idiots who want to see her smile. And her name…. *She wants to be called Ishmael.*
Ishmael, saw the ideal of her future self in Ahab. She does not want to be the person with seeking the revenge, as Ahab manipulated her into. She wanted to become the person that chasing their life purpose, and she saw that self-reflection of the ideal in Ahab once, for the first time they met. As Sang Yi said... Mirror does not just simply showing the other version of oneself. It shows the reflection of themselves in their own world too. One of the ID, Capt.Ishmael is not just a mirror world version of her in the position of Capt.Ahab... It is the ideal that one time she achieved her dream, the one's ideal.
Mirror world also shows what other possiblity you might have Like yi sang, On canto 4 sang yi said "just walk until you cant no longer walk, and the place that you stopped will be your new home" and then he stopped at U Corp and later was recruited by captain ishmael
I like to think that Capt Ishmael, despite acting like Ahab, has a far more genuine fondness and care for her crew, instead using her speeches as a way to motivate instead of manipulate. She doesn’t refer to the Crimson Whale in her ID story as a root of all evils, but as the purpose of this journey. She knows she’s got a few personal issues, and she accepts them rather than blaming others, such as how she says to Gasharpoon Ahab “All my fault, you say...? What fault? I daresay it's all thanks to me.” She knows Ahab is trying to gaslight her, and is biting back.

I think it still fits this Canto. This fight is Ishmael slowly falling into despair (Gloom even, like their EGO’s affinity), until coming to a moment of clarity and realization that she has to chart her own path, because continuing to make her only purpose a blind obsession for revenge only makes her into another Ahab, the one thing she despises utterly (much like how Ahab became like the Pallid Whale it seems, consuming others to use for her EGO like the pallidification does). Also going back to what you said of Ish, I preffer each sinner dealing with their canto in unique ways like what PM has been doing. Some come out worse, some better, but its all unique. And its not like there was no grimdark in Canto 5. I mean, the introduction of the Whales and the great Lake, the LC Branch, Ishmael literally killing her friends during Gasharpoon fight...
