Untamed will probably always be my favourite MX vs ATV game from nostalgia and just how good it was. The only thing bad about it I could remember is the unforgiving checkpoints, if you go off track slightly you’d be respawned. And the free-roam maps were incredible.

The last one (4) was developed by Climax and has different physics. I sorely wish it was developed by Rainbow because the content was awesome. The Point-to-Point races were amazing.

I'd love to have a new motorcross game with nice graphics, but the physics of all those games are just A$$! Therefore I'll continue playing MX Unleashed until they finally manage to bring up some good physics again. Maybe in 10 years or something 😂
Unleashed was so good. Being able to hold down and swipe up to get a bigger jump really made this game stand out and gave you so many extra options. Also holding the clutch in the air and letting go just as your back wheel hit the ground….muah, perfection. It was d-pad racing at its peak. And omg, the levels!

I recently did a race on Sandwick, ALL-TIME, 30 laps, gave them a 1 lap head start, and took the lead just 3 corners away from the finish line at lap 14, then proceeded to lap the entire pack 1 time, then lapped all the way up to 3rd again. Ended it with a 3 minute lead. So, had I not given them a headstart, I would have lapped them almost 3 times.
Suppercross encore by far the most fun game outta the whole series. I have 15 days inside Reflex. I have 127 days inside suppercross encore 😅😂 still playing it today what a game
MX VS ATV ALIVE was the absolute BEST moto game to date! From the pre load on the right thumb, to leaning the bike and player the same direction to scrub, the game was just the best! Once you got good at the game you could make it look so real. I don’t see how they could release LEGENDS and the others and they are junk! Why wouldn’t they just use ALIVE gameplay/physics for the new games they are developing! I have stopped playing any moto games because they have all been junk! Such a huge let down!
The ones that say they didn’t like Alive are the ones that didn’t take the time to level their bike up and get good at the game. Cause I used to play that game all day everyday and never got bored of it. Once you leveled your bike up all the way, the bike and rider didn’t feel as stiff. It was definitely my favorite mx game by far
In the Alive part, That Matt Boni, he used to be a pretty fast amateur in the early 2000s. Had a good couple years pro, got 3rd at Daytona in 2008, but then I don’t know what happened to him after that. I remember him being pretty tall too.
So we all love reflex, but alive was fun too. My 2nd favorite track in alive was the short track la ferme vert, it was the only track that was close to an arena cross track. And my favorite travk was the french track which im not gonna try to spell out. And i fucking love the gear in this game my 3 favorites were the scott green white, the moose XCR and the MSR NXT. Reflex had better bikes and graphics, but alive, alive had some sexy gear. But if you did play with the stock bikes, i think the tokayoshi was the better bike of the 2
Mx unleashed, mx vs atv unleashed, and to a lesser extent untamed were my childhood. I could never get the hang of the newer games. I mean I did have some fun with reflex, it was pretty amazing, especially at the time. But for me it’s like SpongeBob. The first 3 “seasons” are the ones that have a special place in my heart.
Untamed was the first game in this series that I played, back in the day when I got my Xbox 360. Still an awesome game, might be my favorite in this series. Either that one or Legends. The outdoor tracks were fantastic, same with the freeride areas. If you want to check out another older MX game, I can't recommend MTX Mototrax enough. Most fun I've ever had in multiplayer is in that game. Just thinking back now, playing splitscreen with someone who is as good as you and batteling it out. Going fast as hell, sliding around in the corners, jumping the same jump at the same time and the bike goes quiet in the air, and them Bam, you land and continue racing. Man, such good memories.

there was videos of new supercross tracks being made for alive during that time. The tracks were built but had no textures on them, the uv map was applied as the texture. I haven't been able to find that video. It's forever lost. Video of the tracks came out when mx vs atv supercross trailer came out during a thq show on youtube.

That is one thing the newer games need to majorly get together. The AI. They're simply not fun to race with, mostly due to lack of challenge. The first 3 games had, not perfect, but more than good enough AI to race against. If I'm falling off my bike or I mess up a rhythm section I expect to be passed, in the ps2 era games that was always the case, but in the newer ones the average player can gap the field by 10 seconds by lap 3 in a 5 lap race. This is honestly the only thing keeping me personally from getting MX vs ATV Legends, most of my time in racing games is offline with bots, if they're no fun to race then I simply wont bother.
In Untamed if you held A or X and then pressed left right or right left quickly on the take off you would get a scrub. Then you would also lold a or x in the air to whip. It was kinda fun here and there, but I simultaneously hated that part of the physics system lol.
On untamed pretty sure you have to approach the jump with the preload stick pulled back for it to be a ‘full power’ preload. When it’s blue it’s full power when it’s green it’s a mini preload.
Untamed was the first to introduce Scrubs, you had to press X and do left then right or right then left in the top of the jump and you had some crazy looking scrubs and the whips where cool af.
Used to put a ton of hours into atv offroad fury 4 as a kid. Untamed was cool and seems better now but got boring easily for me for some reason. Reflex, always a memorable experience with that learning curve which all my friends hated because they couldn't get used to it. Alive was like the untamed of unleashed to me. I dont know if anyone remembers but Alive was supposed to be the last game. Legends is like the untamed for all out to me...still think i enjoy all out a bit more with the more floaty physics and easier turning which gave it more of an MvA feel to me. Legends is cool with what they're doing but one of those things where I don't know what it is but i feel something is just ofd no matter how much they update it. I hope the next game will be closer to a "reflex" for the series going forward.
I was disappointed that legends didn’t include buggies sand rails or pre runners, no helicopter either.. wish they had more than the UTV’s but I understand the focus of the game is MX and ATV.. wish Baja edge of control would make a comeback
My personnal blast is on Alive ! Amazing game, graphics, sounds and vibe. Wish we have some more supercross tracks but the tracks are all very well done, top quality over quantity. DLC are still avaible on the ps3 version. Stewart compound and more ! Reflex come in 2 with best deformation and best air physics /scrub system by far. I enjoyed this games much more than legends. Peace and good game to everyone !

Before MX Unleashed, we were introduced by MX Superfly in 2003 and MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael. Both are also from THQ.
mx vs atv untamed was the childhood favorite of mine, still holds up, all the others dont cut it for me lol but they are all cool.
