i love kneaded erasers! i like sketching out my drawings in erasable coloured pencil, then inking, and what i like to do is roll it out into a log, then roll it along my paper. it’s really handy for getting an even picking-up of colour/graphite, but i’m still able to see my work. plus sculpting it is really fun!

I have a Vanish eraser and it's insane! Works so well. I haven't tried the Prismacolor one but will give it a test run to see which works better. I absolutely love my Vanish eraser, and it's huge.
As far as kneaded erasers go, for me I can do a drawing and then roll the kneaded eraser over the pencil drawing a rolling pin with my palm, and it picks up the graphite to give me just enough left to see to ink or paint and won't show or muddy up the color of literally anything. I can be relatively heavy handed with my pencil and still pick up most of the graphite with my kneaded eraser. It also does really well at giving details highlights and stuff. Or to help with shading, if it's too dark just dab a little bit away or clean up the edges.
Great idea with the watercolor paper! I ruined erasers on my watercolors paper all the time. It's like using it on a cheese grater....well you get the idea.

U got ur eraser.. it's not exactly a kneaded eraser but it looks like one and workslike on... I use it all the time and it's fun to make if u r bored anytime

It does take a few minutes to get the right shading, but it’s a lot easier and look better to use this to make a very accurate shading than a normal eraser.

I've gotten addicted to making my own kneaded erasers from regular erasers. Use the regular eraser and roll and knead the bit left behind. You don't need to actually erase pencil to get the bits and make it, but the graphite does help bind the eraser. Some types of erasers are more crumbly, so they need some adhesive residue from elsewhere. For instance, stickers, tape, or water bottle labels.

I’ve never tried using a kneaded eraser, but my personal favorite eraser has to be the Faber Castell Dust Free eraser.
It pretty much has the same benefits as the kneaded eraser, with the exception that you can’t mold it into any shape you want, and the added benefit of a minimal mess when erasing.
I prefer a solid and steady eraser so I can have a bit more control over what I erase without worrying about my eraser being molded out of shape and erasing something I didn’t want erased, as I no longer ink my drawings. 😊

  • @wendigo6188

Wow I didn't think about using it for water color painting like that! I'm gonna try it out because I always use water colour pencils to outline and I don't like them (I'm still at baby level in water color painting 😅)
My art is mostly pencil sketches and I use the kneaded eraser to make a shared area softer (like blending but with the eraser to make it lighter) and to add fine details like hair.
On a side note, it's kinda fascinating how different artists would use the same tool but in completely different way.

As a kid I used to make these by accident cause of sensory issues I’d just nonstop use my eraser on paper and knead the shavings into a “clay like” consistency and they were always good for adhd kneading

I love the Koh-i-nor kneaded eraser, it comes in a little storage box. My tip is don’t be tempted to hold it and play with it like a sensory toy, it gets sweaty and sticky and lives in your fingernails 😄

Sir what type of paper do you use??
    Few more questions:
    - Where do you get your guache?
-where do you get your pencils?
    - where do you find you zebra brush pens?
    - what markers do you use?
    - where do you find your kneeded eraser

I spent so many hours sculpting my kneaded eraser into things in art class lol, I made snails or snakes with christmas hats a lot but once I made a sitting fox I ended up being pretty proud of

also you can wash most kneaded erasers i feel like most people don't know this and end up binning them when they get dirty but just search up how to clean a kneaded eraser and it should save you a bit of money :)

I have a hyper realistic art style and I usually press down really hard so I use kneaded erasers to lighten my line work!

I use the kneaded eraser because I like to have some of the sketch left so I can do the line art. I also like to make sculptures with it if I don’t want to get out my clay.
