I really like caps monologue at the end of this book- it shows how the military industrial complex is self fulfilling. Also I love how Norman is at first not taken seriously by shield in comparison to the other big baddies like magneto or hulk but by the end you see how Norman is a mastermind- with his political and moneyed connections he plays a different game than other super villains

About time. I needed my Ultimate Spider-Man fix. Also, I prefer the MCU term “Enhanced Individual” for super-powered humans. And my favorite Sinister Six is the one from Spider-Man PS4. They almost completely destroy New York with both a bioweapon and thousands of escaped prisoners. Arguably, an Avenger-level threat and Spider-Man was able to handle them.
I do love that team, I personally would have preferred either Sandman, Kraven or Mysterio over Mister Negative. The Spectacular Spiderman Sinister Six teams are my favorite versions! I loved Montana as Shocker over any version I've seen of Schultz haha Love the Sandman, Rhino BFF chemistry in that series especially prior to being super enhanced villains
Sandman is one of my favorite villains in the Marvel Comics. I love that in Ends of the Earth, he is in the desert of Egypt and is able to absorb the sand to become a giant mass monster!

A minor nitpick I've always had is that this story, timeline wise, makes more sense taking place before Volume 8, including the fact that the flashback issue came out before all the volume 8 issues. I've always just put Ultimate Six before Volume 8 in my collection, it just makes more sense that way

I have a huuuuuge problem with the whole "modding your genetics is a crime" thing because you know who did that in the Ultimate universe? Cap Hawkeye Black Widow Hank Pym Nick Fury And what about the people who's genes were modded by accident like Daredevil or Spider-Man? where do they fit in?
@@Scandal262 Which also dosen't make that much sense. Because Daredevil isn't working for the government or even interacts with them in the ultimate universe. The closest we get to that is in Ultimate X Men, when he threatens Shield Agents and tells them to fuck off from Hell's Kitchen.
I think like that said, if it was an accident or you are a sheild/government agent doing it it's fine. Also alot of the heroes had already had that happen before they made it a crime. Like in early Ultimate Spider-man it wasn't a crime when Norman had done it yet.
Now that I think about, they had a sixth villain, Rhino. Bendis didn't even have to retcon him in, cause iron man captured in one of the ultimate spiderman issues and presumably takes him to Triskelion. Guess they just really wanted Flint for this. I also love this story just cause it just really highlights how wack the ults are in comparison to ultimate petey, this international "superhero" team has an entire prison dedicated to ALL of some rando NY high school kid's villains.

I really dislike this story. The ultimates got more focus than Spiderman and he shows up at like halfway through. Plus the art is awful in this book. I think this should have been a stand alone book instead of being part of the volume collection
Yeah I didn't like the art either but I was a bit more forgiving about the story. I figured with a bit more focus it could have ended up as a nice little heist yarn. The pieces were all there.
The art is pretty awful throughout a lot of it, but I disagree on the story. They're still defined as Spider-man villains and the initial focus for them is finding him, but their larger goals aren't centered only on him, which I find refreshing. Also, by having Osborn be the leader (who in this universe had close ties to Fury), plus have most of 1610 Spidey's rogues be genetic mutations, having Fury's involvement be a major part of the story makes total sense, as does having the Ultimates appear, since they're so connected to S.H.I.E.L.D. If Bendis wrote Osborn to have a vendetta against Fury, it's natural that he'd want to screw with him more than anyone else, especially at a point where he has other super powered villains to help.
I'm curious to see how the Sinister Six will feature in the MCU, we have Molina and Foxx confirmed to return as Doc Oc and Electro, would love to see Haden Church return as Sandman and bring back Vulture and Scorpion and either have Mysterio return or Shocker
