I've always loved the end. The same thing happened to our choir. Everyone stood up to applaud... and then realized we weren't quite done. I almost died laughing.

I can't believe it's been 15 years now, almost 16 (Jan 2002), since this performance. I was in this choir and it's still one of the musical highlights of my life.
This is still such a strong recording.
I love the power of the basses..and their diction as a whole is way better than I've heard in other recordings. good attempt by the alto soloist

I sang this for the WELS National conference of Worship, Music, and the Arts. (July 2011) I was in the National Honors Choir. (All High school aged) We didn't really like the song at first but the more we sang it we loved it and we still talk about it getting stuck in our heads! :) Wonderful job, we used this version as a preference when learning on our own!

I sang this song while I was at the National High School Music Institute at Northwestern University. I had the honor of being selected to sing the tenor solo. What a Great Summer!!!
Probably the best interpreted version of this piece. I’m not as sensitive to pitch problems but it was a bit noticeable at first.

My daughter is currently learning this song so she can audition for the 2025 NMMEA All-State choir. She's a sophomore, and they haven't performed it since 2002 (my sophomore year!)
I was part of the Arkansas All Regional Choir that performed this piece about 2 or 3 years back.......always such a beautiful piece.
The harmony in this song is BRILLIANT. My favorite part is the alto solo, myself. Not 100% sure why, but I think it's that I like just the lone voice singing out the beautiful slur throughout that entire phrase.

I sung this song earlier this year.! Great job guys! The sopranos were a little pitchy at times and the men were sharp towards the end but GREAT job! Great HARMONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! Very powerful and Strong!....
it's gorgeous! but the alto solo drove me nuts. did she turn some of the sixteenth notes into grace notes on purpose or was she just off?

This is a beautiful piece, and a beautiful rendition to go with. I'm a Tenor 1 in the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association Chorus, and we are doing the piece for 2015. I might try for the solo.
The alto solo bugged me, though. Not that she wasn't a great singer, but...she has pitch problems. Sorry. The other soli were wonderful, though. Good on you for performing this with your state chorus.

Axel E. Blair Judging from other choirs I've heard do this piece; the alto solo is quite difficult. It sounds to me like this girl was just nervous when singing her solo though.

I agree, on top of that, the balance is not good at all. But they are interpreting it very well, and the dynamic contrast is very well done, but you are right, they are very flat, and that was one of the first things that i noticed.

Soprano soloist you are AMAZING!!....you are a Charlotte Church type timber to you voice very consistent and not over done....Baritone your solo in this is actually the solo part that should sound more vibrant than the other solos (not just because I am one) but didnt hear that here and the rest....Alto solo very shaky....choir BRILLIANT!

This recording is amazing!! Great text inflection, good tone, the soprano solo is a bit "nya nya nya", but otherwise fantastic!
To start I Love the contrast in the start... different from what I've ever heard it performed.. the Bass solo could have been more assertive! I LOVE the alto solo (my fav. part of song) could have been more assertive!! Dynamics distinguished very clearly! I would have like the tenors to cresendo more on end

i performed this 4-5 years ago in my high school choir and im so suprised that i remember the words and the timing of everything this has to be one of my favorites
