I was not expecting being so personally affected by this song. My stepfather took me in, in 2000 and he didn’t have to be to me who he was. My biological father has spent a majority of his life in federal prison and was abusive to my mother and I. When my stepfather came along he taught me how to be a man because my real father was showing me what it meant to be a coward. So this means a lot to me.
The fact that this is my life story down to henry being the name of my stepdad is so incredible an the love i have for Stephens art is also… thank you for all that you share/do and are
❤ My dad adopted me after he married my mom when i was 6. My biological dad signed his rights over to not pay child support. Beyond blessed with a supportive loving father and this song hits me right in the throat phenomenal job 🙌
My dad was never there for me, parents divorced. Read a lot of awesome stories here. This song hits home. No matter how old you get...the feeling of a dad calling you his boy will always be a feeling I long for. This song just shows what every kid should be priviliged to feel.
My stepson told me to listen to this song cause it reminds him of me.he made my Thanksgiving day by doing so. I met him & his mom when he was six.hes 27 now & I loved & raised him ike my own and I couldn't be more proud.if you read this comment Justin I love you son.thank you
Why am I crying. My dad is my bio father and he and my mom are both married. This song had nothing to do with me at all but I’m still sobbing in bed when I’m trying to nap.
This is so beautiful 😭. My Stepmom has been in my life since I was 1, my Dad passed many years ago but my Stepmom still introduces me to ppl as her daughter.
There are no songs for girls like this. NOT. ONE. I had a mom who couldn't stand me. I had no value in the house except to be house servant. I won some beauty contests in college. Her disdain for me escalated. Then I listen to songs like this and I can totally acknowledge the strong bonds that exist between some Fathers & Sons. Hats off to strong loving fathers!
I met emma when i was 22. I was in love with her mom. But ive got to be honest she was my best friend. Her mom and i were together for 3 years. She was four when her mom relapsed on heroin and left me. By that time she was my daughter and she called me daddy. I havent seen her for 5 years. But she will always be my little girl. I miss you sweet pea🥺🥺🥺
I had an abusive religious step father who would hit me and then apologize at church, crying crocidille tears. I've been married 30yrs to my highschool sweetheart. We started dating when she was 13. I don't derserve her. We have 3 beautiful adult children. The thought of raising my hand to them was never an option, I Love them. This songs speaks to the missed opportunity my broken step father had and missed. This song is beautiful.
