  • In this video, I discuss the new Portugese film manufacturer; Cinemot! This is a small scale company offering a range of seven 35mm film products. I'll share info and insights on each film, as well as my experiences and example photos from the ones I've shot with. I'll also give some interesting specs & speculation about who coats each film, and share relevant info from reviews and product listings. Finally, I'll talk about Cinemot the company, their history, what they offer, and what they do right!

If you want to get film from the canister without a retriever you can either lick the emulsion side of an old piece of film you can roll it into the canister and pull the leader back out, or if you have some double sided sticky tape you can stick that to the old piece of film instead to roll it back in. I always use double sided tape on film to get it out of the canister, even with the lomo and flic film canisters

I've used another roll of film with a slightly damp leader to retrieve film from a canister before, it can be a little finicky but works if you don't have a leader retriever. Great video as always 😊 I'll have to check Cinemot out!

I actually love the tones of that color film inside. Especially your window shot.

I could be wrong (and maybe someone else has already said it), but isn't panchromatic a term specifically used to describe B&W film that is sensitive to the entire color spectrum?
I feel like I read (or heard) somewhere once that B&W film was initially more sensitive to certain wavelengths of light over others, and creating a panchromatic stock was an important early step towards eventually making color photography possible later on...

Hey Yvonne. Liking the channel! I think most black and white film these days is panchromatic (it's the 'Pan" in Fuji Neopan and Ilford PanF50)...Unless it says orthochromatic, I think it just means that it'll respond with equal sensitivity to light across the whole visible spectrum. I think that's right, anyway?

That sounds true! I actually don't know anything about black and white film, I need to shoot with more of it! Thank you for the info!

To retrieve your film out the cannister just lick the emulsion side of the end of a another film and poke it into the canister of the stuck film, turn the axel of the stuck film until it looks like the licked film is being pulled into the stuck canister then grip the licked film and pull it out really fast. It should pull the stuck film out with it. May take a few tries. Especially if the stuck film has remjet cause that is designed to reduce friction, but it does work :)

Ecn 2 is no harder then c41 or bnw. But it’s a waste of money and chemicals if you only develop 1 or 2 films with it.

Kind of Carey Mulligan. Sorry, but as usual your physical presence distracts me from what you are saying 🙄🤣 There are leader retrieval tricks, probably on TH-cam. Never had the problem as most of my film cameras are manual rewind and I stop when I feel the film go slack. 👍📸
