Dr. Foster, I completed my MS in Health Coaching (now called Integrative Health) with a graduate certificate in Lifestyle Medicine from Creighton University this past May. I have a lot of clinical training and patient care experience that most health coaches don’t have which helps me understand the disease process a bit more than your basic eat right and exercise health coach. I’m also a 15-year mental health and human rights advocate. So, I’d like to work as a trauma-informed health coach for women over 40, like myself, who self sabotage with food or are fatigued from double digit years of overwhelming schedules and self-imposed exhaustion. Thankfully, my graduate program provided a business framework for running a successful coaching business. CU recommended that we sit for the NBCHWC exam. I refuse. lol I’m not sitting through a 150 question certifying exam. I’ll survive on existing skill set and education. I’ll also take the 6 week plant-based nutrition course at Cornell in December so that I can be more efficient. It’s a great course taught by the PI from the China Study. I can’t wait! Thanks for this video! Too many MD’s don’t put stock into health coaches because they went to some fancy med school and we didn’t. Google’s piss poor definition and pros/cons of health coaches certainly doesn’t help either. AJ
Thank you for answering my questions. Just what I was looking for. I have an online holistic health and coaching business as I'm MD too. I want to learn the entrepreneur part of health coaching to take my business to next level.
This is a great episode. I very much appreciate your considered perspective. Do you have a list of certification programs handy so that we can compare? Link to your program? Thanks!

@@KimFosterMD I appreciate you replying to me. I am very interested yet it’s important to me to know the cost before hand, I didn’t see any information regarding that? Would be ok to give me these informations: cost of the program, length of the course? . Once I know these I can see if if am able to do it. If I can’t do it now at least I will prepare myself for the next session. I have provided my email. Thankful.
I checked out your program and it seems very female centric. I am a 55 yo male that seeks to work with anyone dealing with serious autoimmune diseases through diet and lifestyle…. And also the population of people who live/work in semi trucks. Would your program be a good fit? I have a BS in a non medical field… worked in the natural food world for 30 years (sales and as an entrepreneur and tried EVERYTHING to heal myself from crohns…which is in remission for 3+ years). I am inspired how trauma relates to illness, the functioning of the autonomic nervous system and all things related to Gut Biome and nutrition.
You're correct -- my training program is focused on women's wellness, so it sounds like it wouldn't be a good fit for what you're looking for. But I definitely encourage you to keep looking for the right program because the world definitely needs you!!
You never mentioned that your course was for woman only. That would have been nice to know before I took the time out of my day to attend and sit through half of it before you mentioned that!
Sorry I didn't make that more clear upfront! I do have other offers that aren't specific to women, but you're right, WCA is specifically focused on women's wellness.
Whats even more amazing than your content is your speaking skills. So soothing and crystal clear
Great video. The world needs these skills especially in the world today. I also love the idea of partnering with other wellness professionals.
