    Like the mutts nuts :) i like learning about things i don't have on my trucks (age 40 to 50 years old) as gathering info is a good thing.

    great video. Question, would you consider the more expensive "upgraded" seal kit ($60.00) or just use the inexpensive ($20.00) oem equivalent kit.

    Hi love the vids you make me laugh!! question I have a freelander td4 tiny bit of blue smoke from exhaust its got the 2litre bmw engine in. It runs sweet always serviced done 130 now passes emmisions. Any idea how long the engine last if driven like a women..p.s that bird is fit get in..

      @RedneckRickem  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      markraptor50 Can't say as I know, Canada is funky when it comes to being able to get cheap running diesels, we can get the Ford sport trac in any gas engine but no option to get the diesel which are readily available anywhere else, kinda sucks. Most diesels like the rovers and toyota's here have had to be imported. But when it comes to fuel guzzling trucks, they're everywhere here.

    ...you take the whole assembly apart because the alignment of the shaft to seal is critical...slightly off and you chip that seal, and you have to do it all over again...I'm an industrial mechanic with 15+ years on the job what do I know...irritates me when I hear people ignore procedures that are there for a reason because they think that they know better.......

    • @RedneckRickem
      @RedneckRickem  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      angusandleigh Well your not too smart are you, now if this truck was taken in for just a power steering pump replacement, is it required to remove everything up to the timing case.....NO!!! How bout you stick to your stuff, and I'll stick to mine, Cheers

    • @angusandleigh
      @angusandleigh 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ...actually before I went industrial, I was in automotive...and I have done lots of work on Cummins, Detroit, and Navistar engines...which included fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, vac pumps, transmissions, rear ends...etc...etc...and with those pumps or any kind of pump with a lip seal that has a shaft inserted I always pull the whole assembly...I get paid quite well for what I do and because I do things the way that I do......how about you just do things properly instead of cutting corners....

    • @RedneckRickem
      @RedneckRickem  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      angusandleigh Ok Mr. "I do everything proper", why in one of your vids is there an open hatch/missing cover on one of the machines, let me guess, easier but unsafe to maintain.

    • @angusandleigh
      @angusandleigh 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ...I see you missed the 'Test Run' part of the description...that cover removed is necessary to check rotation...it is also necessary to check the shaft seals on a machine that had been sitting and may have a dried up seal...this can be read about online...it's not a secret procedure...see my point now?

    • @RedneckRickem
      @RedneckRickem  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      angusandleigh I guess if the the video was a little more informative, it would be a little easier to understand. I'm not knocking your vid but it doesn't explain anything. Cheers

    i dont understand why you never just replaced the whole pump, would have taken a pfraction of the time, and nowhere near as messy/oily of a job. dodge parts are not expensive like bmw's

    • @RedneckRickem
      @RedneckRickem  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4dak88 300 dollars for new pump plus labor to install vs 20 dollar seal kit plus labor, you choose, LOL

    • @beep_beep_beep
      @beep_beep_beep 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's $300-$400
