Please do not stop mail time. I learned a lot from mail time videos and I enjoy it a lot!
OMG!!! I had been thinking that my books had been overlooked in all the mail you get. Then this morning another local photographer that I don’t even know messaged me congratulating me for “being featured on one of his favorite youtube channels”. He didn’t mention you so it took me a bit to figure out what he meant then it hit me, holy shhhh did Ted review my books??? I’m so grateful right now. I’ve been watching your channel for years and have always enjoyed your perspectives and how you talk about things. You’ve opened me up to work and artists I hadn’t heard of, different ways of seeing things and photo books that I may have never known about. I’ve been recognized and awarded for my work in numerous ways over the years but being featured here is the best one yet. Thank you so much for this, Ted. I’m glad you enjoyed my projects. Take care and please don’t stop the book reviews 🤙🏽🙌🏽
That’s awesome Rene! The work looks fabulous!!!
Congratulations Rene, for getting featured and I think both your zine and book are fabulous. I love the images you captured, they certainly seem atmospheric to me, and the way you have put these projects together and presented them in these books is most excellent. Regarding 'Low', I think how you approached the layout, with quite a lot of the images spanning two pages, is a great idea. It looks really cool and definitely suits the subject matter IMO, giving it more of an urban/street vibe, overall...Great work man!, fantastic images, fantastic books!
BTW, I watch Ted's channel all the time and have been a subscriber for a number years. I still use Ted Forbes presets in Lr & camera raw. It's my favourite photography channel on YT and I do hope the Mail Time book reviews continue in the future, at least in some shape or form.
Edit: I really like the 01012022 zine, great shots. It's ideal for taking out on similar shoots, for a little inspiration, and also just great atmospheric images to view at any time....Do you ship to the UK, where I live?
Woah! It’s Akil here. I truly appreciate the kind words and feedback
Excited for how I can do it better next time :)
Amazing photos!!!
@@leirumf5476 thank you
Congrats on being featured!
Great book Akil and I really like the photographs within. The cover is really good, as Ted mentions, and I like the size of this book. It's perfect for popping in you bag and looking at while on a long train journey, or something similar. Considering this is your first book, I think you did a great job and you should be very proud.
Side-note, I think all the books/projects featured in this episode are excellent and I found them all inspiring!...Keep on taking great photos!
Thumbs up for Rene's Low photobook and its photogrpahy skill is amazing!
Thank you so much!
Please keep mail time. It’s very motivating and enjoyable!
Sweet sweet art works.
Thank you and everyone for sharing theirs.
personally i love the series and would have no problem at all watching it just as perfect as it is for quite some more time
Great to see these books. They are inspiring and educational. I made my wife a book on Blurb of her favorite vacation ever, a trip to Paris in 2020 before the COVID fiasco. This Christmas present is two years late. Thank goodness for your mail videos…they motivated and educated me.
This is the first time I've come across a critique video from you. Very unique content for a photography video channel, and your audience is obviously very talented. I think it's great they share with you. Your critiques were honest and gentle, with good points to keep in mind. I learned some things!
4:01 Such a great advice. Thanks, Ted.
That book 'Low' is an eyeopener. I am going to shoot those kind of cars in December and this gave me some great ideas. If I could reformat that book, I would make it wide for obvious reasons. Those photos are really beautiful and should not be broken up in the middle. They would great art to hang on the wall.
Thank you! I debated on the format and layout for a long time with this. The vision that I had for the final look with all that I wanted to include just worked out better this way imo
Mail time is such a wonderful resource and inspiration … hope you can carry on providing this type of feedback in the future. 📷🇨🇦😀
I loved Jeff Karp's "Invisibility" and really liked Akil Grubb's zine from his travel to Japan.
Ted, I just visited the YT channel of John Free. Oh WOW! I watched one video and he changed the way that I think about my photography. Thank you for sharing his work with me.
Thank you for these book series...watching these videos has made me realize that the books are a really a great extension of photography. Book design, typography, writing and story telling in book form are a beneficial expansion of photography. It's like another avenue or evolution in the photographic art form. Your critiques are very useful and l like how you are respectful in your approach. Although I don't know how you intend to refresh the series, l think change is inevitable and good...Thanks.
Beautiful photographs Sir
Love these book and zin reviews. I will send you my latest book, plus something extra. A handmade carbon print from a collodion negative, that's processed the same as in the 1850's. In the height of digital revolution I want to shout out the question how much did photography gained or loose in the last 150 years.
Respect
Please don’t stop this mail time, I pretended to send my future zine from Brazil!!!
I really think you are good at giving constructive criticism.
