    Thank you for your video. I pretty much did my own claim in 2017 with my VSO just only on paper. I was expecting at least a 70% honestly but I ended up with 100% PTSD plus 70% for the GW Illness (CFS, Fibromyalgia & IBS) which gave SMC(S). Now I've got SMC(L) Aid and Attendance. All while in Mexico. I had my C&P Exam in Mexico City through VES. I am blessed to have been taken care of in this way. I pray others would be blessed also. Thanks.

    Great informative video ladies..I am experiencing ALL of those symptoms now...my claim was filed back on January 21st 2020! Its taking longer because of the pandemic I am told..last time I talked with the VA he told me it was still in STEP 3 gathering evidence..waiting on my service records to help support my PTSD claim!! I will fight til the end for my 100 percent because I DESERVE it and have been in DENIAL since I got out of active duty in 1999!! Basically let the condition get worse by going untreated all these years...but better late than never...I have other conditions claimed to, but PTSD is the one that has/is effecting me the most!!! GOOD LUCK to all who served and are in this fight with me..please whatever you do...DON'T EVER GIVE UP!! Fight them til the bitter end!!! #gonavy😷✌⚓

Then from there just tell the Coordinator that you want to file a claim, go from there and DON'T hold back when telling your stories, let it ALL out it will only HELP you in the process, so GOOD LUCK and hope you get every penny you can...you DESERVE it bro, we all do!!! #gogetit 👏👏👏👊⚓

      @Csaunders They can still reduce or take away P&T until you reach the 20 year mark. Whatever you do, once you reach 100% P&T, DO NOT file anymore claims. If you file a claim, then all your claims will be reopened and reviewed again. Also, once you reach the age of 55 yrs old, they typically don’t require anymore exams.

    I got 100% total and permeant based off of PTSD, Hyper anxiety, major depression, and alcohol abuse disorders...but let me tell you it was no picnic getting to that point. I went through hell and only started feeling healthier again the last year or so because of finally getting on right combination of meds and talking to a VA Psychiatrist regularity. I lost my security clearance, my job, my family because of it....it's no joke.

      @@jack30ny1 I was a Security Manager for the Air Force prior to my retirement. Typically Security Clearances are a matter of a 'Trusted' Position to see Classified Information. Losing the clearance is usually because there is a risk of information compromise. That is a common situation when someone has PTSD issues that can possibly exhibit in a way to be careless or blurt out things that may be classified in an unclassified setting. It is not a given that PTSD causes a loss of a clearance, but one incident of classified info compromise will cause that and then the PTSD is considered a factor and then becomes high risk due to an incident.

    Since I've retired. I've rarely seen the same doc twice. It's hard to build a case with constant revolving caregivers. I'm officially rated at 94.38 %. Now I have "tennis elbow," which I wasn't ever evaluated for before, I was told that trying to add more ailments to my rating could result in a decrease of comp rather that the opposite. I just had my C&P exam. He did not have me fill out any questionnaire before hand like I have heard. My exam consisted of what felt like the questionnaire. He said he was just gonna ask me questions and to answer yes or no because he didn’t want me to recall the event for my own comfort. And that’s all he did and seem to take my word for it. Very kind and concerned about me. Is this a good sign? He said he didn’t need details because he didn’t want me to rehash those feelings.

      What was their reasons of denials? SSA usually agrees with VA ratings to process claims for veterans but it is up to discretion... meaning you need to have a lot of documentations of what has happened in your life - everyone is different - such as domestic violence, divorces, irritability at work, et etc..... You can also get the DAV involved with your claim. Wow, these ladies are wonderful and knowledgeable. Thank you for being there for us veterans!!! Semper Fidelis!!

    I hear so many different answers because us veterans love playing telephone. If you have 100% PT for mental health alone are you still able to work? I can’t get an answer that is written and then I hear some veterans say you can’t work.

    • @HillAndPonton
      @HillAndPonton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bert, that's a tricky one and even in this comment you might not get what you're looking for. Technically, if a veteran is rated at 100% PT and can still hold down gainful employment, then it's typically okay HOWEVER there are caveats to that I'll mention here. We have to consider a situation we hear about happening occasionally. Permanent and Total (PT) typically means your file is put away and it is unlikely they'll open it back up unless reason is given for VA to check. If a 3rd party (neighbor, coworker, boss, etc.) reports a vet or VA find out a vet is 100% PT and working, making a salary above the poverty line, then they may start asking questions and think about proposing a reduction. TDIU is even moreso at risk in this type of situation. TDIU, also known as VA Unemployability, means a vet is awarded 100% level compensation for their service connected disability limiting their employment drastically even though the disability itself may not meet criteria for 100%. Hopefully that helps!

    • @Rob-vx2fb
      @Rob-vx2fb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HillAndPonton if you are 💯 P&T they say you can still work. If you meet that criteria with 100%PTSD it still meets the 100P&T requirements. This all makes it so confusing to me. My whole thought is if you can’t work why not just say it on the paperwork. I find it all incredibly stressful. My VA councilor and VSO both said I can work at my own business then I see this video and it is saying otherwise. Makes me have a small heart attack.
      Also would like to know where the other half of this video is. Been scrolling through to see what else you have to say about PTSD but can’t find it.

      I just recently filed for disability last week. I was diagnosed for ptsd, major depression disorder, and anxiety disorder back in 2011. I continued trying to work, and hide my disability up until recently when I just couldn't do it anymore. I have completely isolated myself from other people, I become irritated with my kids so I cant spend time with them like I'd like to. I barely sleep, I have times where I completely just break down and my wife tries to comfort me. It usual ends in my lashing out at here. I've attempted suicide twice, and some days still have the thoughts...I want to get better but I honestly doubt I ever will. So I honestly know what other veterans are going through. It depends on the state you live in. Im 100pt too since age 23 (one of the youngest in the US to be 100% solely for ptsd) and ive never tried to get a firearm but was told that if i did try to buy one i likely wont qualify under federal law: disability interferes with ability to handle firearm safely. I have 'dissociative flashback reactions' and have a long history of involuntary commitments and was discharged from the military because it was determined by psych that i should not be around firearms. Some states consider revoking your drivers license as well but each state is different and its a case by case thing. Dissociative flashbacks give me no awareness of where i am or what im doing and ive come out of the flashbacks with broken bones over the years because i thought i was fighting off al-Qaida.

      @@ruizhou9612I think folks with mental health problems should be heavily scrutinized, observed, and evaluated if they own a gun and I’m a former Marine with extensive training in firearms.
      Safety should be paramount and top priority when it comes to guns and someone with mental health issues likes PTSD should be strongly considered as a risk.
      I’m even at the point where folks with PTSD should not be allowed to own them.
      I’ve had friends who took their own lives and guns make it easier.

      On its own, no. If you've ever been inpatient in a civilian hospital they will report it. This is my case. I'm not able to legally purchase a firearm.

    How does Sleep Apnea Secondary to PTSD work? Is it compensatable if the veteran is already 100%, if the veteran uses a CPAP should the secondary rating be 50% or can the VA award 0% even when they acknowledge that the Sleep Apnea is aggravated by the PTSD?
