Love the random way shelves are stacked . With different genre rubbing shoulders . There is even part of the Religious " left Behind " series . Second book shops . Panning for gold. In my neck of the woods...second hand book stores are fading away .Now i shop at flea market and garage sales. And people now cling on to the classics .Congrats on the acquistion .

I haven’t tried the rubber band method, but the best method I’ve found for straightening crooked hardbacks is:
    1. Remove the dust jacket.
    2. Turn the book upside down, the spine facing away from you.
    3. And then, working from the back of the book, open each page quite wide, as though you’re reading the book backwards.
Go through the whole book like this.
You may hear a feint cracking sound as the glue and the pages realign.
You may have to do it a couple more times.

You're right. There's not always a gratuitous grab bag, sometimes it's about a carefully considered few gems. I'm pleased to see someone *else* take some time to sit with the idea of a purchase before going back for it. (In the States I'm ribbed for not being able to "pull the trigger" on such purchases as if that was the only way to consider buying / shopping / collecting!) Thanks seeing the whole thing, even some of your frustration, was strangely relaxing. Enjoy your holiday.

Another wonderful video of flâneur wanderings to and through the bookshops of Bristol. I'm envious of your find. I have a paperback Avon edition of 334. I think it's time for a Disch revival, especially in the times we are living.

Nice finds. Looking up my acquisitions on Abebooks is the first thing I do when I'm home from book hunting. Half the stuff I buy at flea markets/library sales are books I think may have value. I'm right about 25% of the time lol. Escape Plans sounds good, I'll have my eye out for that one.

I suppose one should get into that 'I'll look it up on my phone thing but I like to keep it simple...have a great day, Matt!

I reckon if you can find an antique book press that'll cure a leaning spine too

That was the archival wrap the previous owner had used, trimmed very strangely...
