    You and the other Thralls should do a video talking about your favorite albums of all time.

      Necrotic Nick- That would involve hundreds of albums for me alone. lol

      I sympathize with the difficulty of naming "all time favorites"..
      The best I could do would be "here's the best dozen of the month"...

    Glad you enjoyed Phobos, I agree it is one of their heaviest albums, actually I like it more than a lot of the Snake era records and Piggy was on fire on this release!

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Necrotic Nick- This is probably my favorite of the Eric Forest albums though I do love a lot of the Snake stuff. Honestly, it really didn't seem to matter what album Piggy was on because the guitar work was always sick. That dude was underrated as hell and he had such a wide range of styles that he incorporated in Voivod's sound. Piggy was brilliant and sorely missed. I like Chewie though. He's a solid fit for the band.

    Love Generation Of Vipers! Really do need to re-try Voivod. Tried them some years back and they didn’t do it for me. But my tastes have grown so I’ll have to give them a listen. 🤘🏻

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Necrotic Nick- That Generation of Vipers is a hidden gem for sure. I need to get some more of their stuff. Initially I didn't like Voivod either but the more I listened to them, the more I got into them. Their weirdness started to make more sense after awhile. lol

    The new Transcending Obscurity Records label sampler is loaded with upcoming death metal releases on his label, highly recommend picking it up 🤘

      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Necrotic Nick- That label has tones of killer stuff but it’s hard to get the physical media here and their US store doesn’t offer a lot of the main releases I’ve found. I’ll still check it out though for sure.

    Love em since rrröööaaarrr... bought Angel Rat when it came out, loved it immediately... great album.

    Great video, I always add some stuff to my (already huge) list when I watch these! What are you playing in the background? Would be cool if you could include a link for that in the description as well in the future, I usually like what I hear in all the Thralls videos🤘

    • @thrallsofmetal

    For fans of Mr Bungle, but more extreme, check out Naked City with John Zorn. Mike Patton even appeared with them live.

    • @thrallsofmetal

      @@thrallsofmetal Its absolute craziness. Guts of a Virgin as the metal record that was my gateway into free jazz. Another John Zorn project you might like is Painkiller, which at points featured members of Godflesh and Napalm Death

    Damn, you are true metal guy, top to bottom - pity that black metal is not among your favorites. Disfear is good but for me crust punk is Amebix and everything else - Rob Miller for me is the best vocalist ever and "Coming Home" is up there for best song ever made

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Necrotic Nick- Still kinda picky when it comes to black metal but the more I listen to it the more I get into it. I only have Amebix most recent offering which was pretty good but I do need to get some of their older stuff.

    Hey Nick, have you heard of Petrification? Excited for the new album by them this year! Their debut, named Hollow of The Void sounds very doomy and sludgy. Been trying to get that album for a while now. Amazing albums on that list, great collection!

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Necrotic Nick- The name sounds familiar but I could just be confusing them with another band with a similar name. I do love doomy and sludgy albums so I'll be on the look out for stuff for sure.

    I would compare that Ascended Dead record to Possessed as well (there is a Possessed cover on the album). Charlie Koryn is basically a drummer/audio engineer for hire. He is beyond excellent. He also drummed on the last Skeletal Remains and Voidceremony albums. I think AD is his primary band though. I'm really hoping they put out another full-length soon, because I have worn this one out. They have a live album on Bandcamp that sounds really good and features some tracks that aren't on the full length, the best of which is "Nexus of the Black Flame." There's also a drum-cam video on TH-cam of Charlie playing "Nexus" live that is totally mind-blowing. As you can tell I am a major geek for this band and really want to hear what they have next (if anything).

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Necrotic Nick- Shit. I forgot to mention that going over it. lol. That dude's drumwork is nuts. I loved how chaotic it was and I'd definitely love another full length from them. I may have to check out that drum cam video too.

      Necrotic Nick- I actually have the last 4 Martyrdod albums and I love them. I liked he blend of crust and even some At the Gates style riffing here and there. I'm not as familiar with Tragedy though.
