i mean its supposed to be temporary until you can get a new part i made this a good few years ago and didnt have the money at the time to buy a new one so this was my solution if you dont care to replace the part then it could be a long term fix but as to how long i dont know haha i got a ps4 a few months after this video was made

I have the same ps3 slim as you, I walked if it'll function normal if the disk drive doesn't have the outer metal case because I messed mines up after replacing the thermal paste because one or two of the screws got stuck but I'm planning on following your method to try to make it work because currently if I try turning my ps3 on it'll have the yellow light of death and the disk drive vibrates because I think something inside of may be stuck
make sure the little white piece sticking out from the top in the front of the tray isnt being pushed down it will cause that issue if you can link a video and email me kattastrophy45@gmail.com
After 2+hrs of failure, I watch this to make the mental connection that the blu ray’s ribbon cable was crimped. I straighten it out with a little screw driver and wahla- the laser stopped spazzing
+Ma Ga (shunneN) you just have to pull that lever down a and make sure it clicks and try not to push the eject button or let anything touch the white tab in the front its a pain in the ass its sensitive
+Chris Lambe its just the way sony made it i used to have to repeat the process each time i powered down but after a couple days of doing it over and overr it just stayed make sure the little white tab in the front is always up
might want t o replace the laser with a new one and see if that helps or it could help by investigating and examining why is it jammed once you diagnose why it was jammed you can figure out how to fix it
On the other side of the disk is a white plastic arm. If you can't pull the spring that arm is probably switched to the left. Try switching it to the right. Yu have to hold it in place though...

Everytime I turn off my ps3 it ejects automatically a disk half way and it doesn't take in disks. Does this help

after I did it it worked. :) then I shut it off and it went back to they way it was before. do you know why?

make sure all the small cables in the back are in good sometimes they pop out

KING REX Make sure that all of the leads are plugged in if they are and it still is not spinning you need an entire new disk drive

just flip it upsidedown and pull down the gears will turn and it will click be sure not to streatch the spring
