During the Ask Jr. portion of the episode, listeners sent in questions regarding:
- Sharing SMT data - is it good or bad?
- Beer: bottles or cans?
- What did Dale Sr. do to prepare for races? You won’t want to miss the two Intimidator stories involving a bulldozer and a chainsaw.

Was a blast to see u again Jr. We packed that place for ya and we appreciate u sticking around to meet us. My good buddy Jason was that bearded photographer following u around while I was in the stands with my little boy. Was a good time
Kind of story you love to hear
Did you watch Keelan Harvick win the legends race? Awesome last lap pass.
@kristenwhite2701 that was a hell of a race he had that first race but that care was crazy loose
Dale my grandson brought his girlfriend and I was watching your podcast. She said I got Dale Earnhardt’s autograph. She said it my most valued possession. A 21 year old has always been a fan. She said her dad was a car guy and into racing. You signed it at Dallas track. She was around 10 years at the time . Way to go Dale you made a fan for life.
We want a Dale Jr. Car collection video😁
No we dont... shut up
Go away Jimbo, don’t go away mad, just go away. Please & thank you 🙏🏻
I’d love a collection video
@@jimboshrumpLoser alert.
Thanks Jr for doing this podcast. We know it’s really for the fans. That’s why you do it. Me and my dad are such huge fans of you and your dad. Love you Junior!
Dang Dale that didn't take long to scuff up the RV lol. Thanks for another entertaining episode...makes the long day of driving go by much faster!
Agree 100% on getting practice sessions back to where they were before the pandemic. one 25-30 minute practice session per series is nowhere near enough. This is something that newer drivers like Hailie Deegan have never had. Yes, they all are able to practice in their iracing sim rigs, but actual on track practice would be much more beneficial.
I think Jr was right a few weeks ago when he said " you can't blame the track, it's the car ". Just because it's texas doesn't change that. Bring the cars up to a more stock hight ...stop dragging the noses on the ground. Give em 4 or 5 inches underneath. Lose a bunch of downforce...racing WILL be better...not just at texas but at Martinsville, Richmond, dover, everywhere. Lay 4x4s down at the exit of garage area...if cars don't clear it, they gotta get it up in the air more. Could be simple as that. Take the aero ridges off these cars and use oem body parts...give em 1000 hp. Can't be hard, they did it for 50 years with a lot less money.
Good win at texas and congrats to chase at texas
I am proud of Elliot. He showed me he wants to win
Miss east Carolina motor speedway. Grew up there, made me smile to hear you mention it
Dale is less cranky this week😂😂
Ben gitin him sum
Maybe he got some
He raced this weekend.
Thank you. The lack of practice is killing NASCAR!!
Was awesome to see you in newriver!!
Love DaleJr download. Been watching since they were in the tiny studio. Great show and DaleJr is a true champion 🏆 ❤
Love ya Dale. God bless ❤
Ryan Newman was hard to pass too! No one complained about his actions!
I can't name a single person that wasn't thrilled when he retired lol that guy was a mess.
@@kristinmoore4624why would you post such breaking “FAKE” news?
Ryan Newman has not retired…
@@kristinmoore4624what guy retired?
Was awesome seeing Junior from turn 2 trackside at New River, met him Friday night in the pits when we were supposed to race but that crazy rain storm cancelled the Friday night races. #83 and #88
Like the practice talk because when we go to tracks with our sprint car we are lucky to get 2 laps and very hard to figure the set up, sometimes we are spot on but it's a guessing game for the most part lol.
Dale is so incredibly UNDERRATED as a sports figure today. That’s WILD because he is for sure the McAfee/Barstool type of sports celebrity
It was fun for fans to have more practice too. I loved when they had the all star race at Daytona and we could watch practice for both races. I watch it on TV. We need more practice for fantasy racing too 😉
Chastain being mad is comical since he basically ran into or over every other driver some even multiple times .
Facts him a denny can never be mad about how anyone races them
Him saying something on the radio about Elliott not doing what he did to Hamlin to him was comical as well since Chastain is the biggest abuser of aero blocking in the sport
Chase at 47:44
Saying the phrase (Bird Dogs) gets just excited lol
Ya we all need a good bird dog! lol
Hey Dale I would think that more practice time would help the smaller teams and younger drivers as seen in the results of the first nine races all but one race Was Won by Hendrick or Gibbs. Josh Berry Noah Gregson Carson hocevar John Hunter would definitely benefit from more laps on track love the show buddy keep up the good work go Chase Elliott
What i wouldn't give to see Jr and Sr interacting at this point of their live's. I bet it would be amazing.
Seeing them race live was exciting!
More practice during the race weekend would be great for the fans as well. Its awesome to see them in the garage making changes then go back out and drive. This benefits everyone!!
Big changes cars like old days is over no matter what but more practice time is good
For the fans, more practice would be great! Especially if you are traveling in town for the race. I grew up going to the Brickyard 400 every year and we would come in town Friday for practice, then all day Saturday for qualifying, happy hour, IROC race, etc., and then the raceday on Sunday. It was great!
Ì would like to see Dale Earnhardt Jr race again in some cup races.
Like Martinsville and Bristol and Richmond. Maybe a road course to try and somehow get his first rod course win.
I doubt it'll happen
It's never happening
My grandpa was a Bill Elliott fan and he said that one reason Bill always admired Alan Kulwicki is because he was a succesful owner-driver
Great show! The new format is growing on me and everyone is fitting in nicely. Keep up the great work everyone. I’d love to see a weekly segment of funny little Dale stories like today.
I purchased that book when it came out, going to find it and read it again
Texas needed that xfinity series photo finish and the most popular driver in Nascar winning on Sunday was good for that track because and rightfully so it's been lack luster the last few year's. It and and COTA are my home tracks and I haven't been since the last Gen car. After this weekend I wish I had went to the track. Last time we bought Tickets was the season Covid hit so we got burned on that deal. We used to go every year damn near before that.
LoL "Get Off My Lawn!!"
Next Gen cars always look how trying to merge on a freeway with 4cylinders feels
Dale Jr. making Texas great again
I've been a Chase fan since the #25 days and this was the aggression we so needed to see in him. Not wrecking but, leaning on someone without relent.
Good to see Chevrolet get the wins
Entertaining race =/= good race
there's was A LOT OF SLICK in the Track this Sunday in Texas, wanted ROSS to win the race see some Trackhouse winning. I'm happy Chase won starting way back was it 26th row but he got the win and HOOTERS Car. with the truck and xfinty going around the turn and building more slick at the turns seeing all those cars and trucks just crash the wall because the track was slick. .... BIRD DOGS!!!!
I was there camping since the Sunday before and that was some of the best racing in all 3 Nascar series and at the dirt track that I've seen in a long time texas motor speedway is back please give us our 2 races back out was amazing had a blast all week and all weekend there
There was no “action” until later half of the race & that’s due to the aged pavement! The race was not a good RACE! Tire wear was not a thing! This track has had its fair share of problems since its opening! A second date is not needed! Would love to see them get the short track package fixed & move this date to WILLSBORO of some other short track!
Hey Jr. you should race in the cars tour at Caraway. You would love that track.
IMO, the more practice there is, the better the show will be. And yes, Cup cars need a LOT more horsepower!
Also in enc not far from new rivers speedway is the carteret county speedway in cape carteret would love to see you there junior
What about giving the rookies an hour of extra practice
a big part of the snappy loose is the rear defuser when the car hits a bump the car loses about 30% downforce instantly. just add 1/2 " more rear spoiler to account for it.
Or shear off a half inch of the diffuser.
CONGRATULATIONS CHASE #9.❤
It's frustrating when things go wrong - and you know it can go wrong - but just don't fix it right there and then sure enough....! It's just life really ...can't always go perfect + luckily most problems have a solution to set them right again, put it back how it was although it's now changed - can't reflect on that! Always keep looking forward, forgive yourself + keep going - just do the best you can 🎉❤👍, M.
Paul Andrews is a pretty smart crew chief. He also worked for DEI. For the 1 team for several years. Forget how long though he was at DEI.
Sounds like I need the date for caraway!
Junior i have been an industrial maintenance mechanic for 30 years working on several different tupes of equipment, do you think i ever got any practice at my craft? On the job or on the track experience i believe is best. If i had time to practice my craft id be retired by now lol. Always learning something new. Learning means your growing. Explain how the trucks and xfinity run better racing. Without major changes to their product
If you liked that track you would love 5 flags speedway. It's a great half mile short track with some pretty steep banking so its fast.
I’ve been to races where it was 5 laps hot laps, immediately off the track and into single car qualifying. If the grassroots can do it so can the best drivers. However as a corporate sponsor would want more air time and more airtime would mean more a team can charge for sponsorship.
My biggest gripe about Texas is Ticketmaster.
Let's save that topic for the off-season.
Buy through the track.
@@ethanweeter2732: I think they handle all of TMS ticket request.
For me, one good race doesn't make up for the horrible racing that's plagued Texas since the reconfig, but with the track wearing, it might start to be at least a decent track. I still hate 1&2 though
Yet 1 and 2 probably would be the turns to make it better possibly. 3 and 4 are wide open, turns where you have to slow down are probably going to make for better racing.
@@ethanweeter2732 3&4 is wide open because of how much you have to slow down in 1&2 and because of the lower hp. Back before the reconfig, you still had to lift quite a lot.
I have great respect for Dale jr. One of my favorite racers of all time, but until he gets in one of these next gen cars and races it, I don’t think he can say if a race track is good or bad or if the cars are ok or not.
used to be you could go to the race track and catch 3 or sometimes 4 days of action with with practice and qualifying. now some of the weekends it's only 2 days at the same or higher price. and they wonder why some of the fans went away.
Texas camping was stacking campers like cord wood. That turnout has steadily increased since the All Star races. It doesn't translate to TV as well as grandstands but both were far more healthy than they have been.
Ross there’s a saying” when you live by the sword you die by the sword”
I'm a data guy. Edge devices have revolutionized how we collect data. The problem lies in making that data make sense. One of the biggest hurdles of some of the most data-rich corporations, is knowing how to work with that data, in order to make decisions. Collection is easy. Interpreting is hard. To the point that I don't think most folks know what to do with it once they get it. Need to have a war room with some engineers to determine how to visualize the data, and make it 8nformation to base decisions on. Make it easier to apply what you've learned to the car. I need to go to work for a Nascar team. There are problems to solve...
I'm tellin y'all, tire wars will fix A LOT of racing woes!!! I said it last week and I'm stickin with it!!! Somebody make a good argument that will change my mind if I am wrong!
I remember the Goodyear vs Hoosier battle in the late 80s. Good racing, some controversy. Radial vs bias ply. Lots of variables. Some teams were switching back and forth from one tire brand to the other every other week. I think a tire war would be good for the sport.
@@liamfirebird6922 That's my thoughts as well. Goodyear has had it too easy for far too long!! Competition will make for a better product, always does!!
The aluminum long necks are the best.
I would suggest that the absence of practice before a race in some ways closes the gap between the huge race teams and the small teams.
Nope. It widens the gap. Big teams have their car better when they unload.
Of course The B wouldn't even sell Jr a peice of land 🤬
Joe Flacco did pretty good after missing a year.
But I agree that drivers need to build up stamina and muscle memory by getting repetitions
I also think its grimey of Teresa not to sell the land as well!!!!
Glad chase won but larson was the car to beat
Larson has arguably the best car and crew chief, even pit crew, but oddly under Cliff, they are bad about not indexing the wheels properly. It is better to just take the extra time and index that wheel properly, not worth the driver’s safety or your race over those extra seconds.
Practice should be optional for who ever shows up. If you want to run here are the time slots
The problem with this new car is no chassis travel.. When the car hit bumps no chassis travel means tires come off the track loose grip and spin. On the Chastain and Byron deal, it started when Chase did the side draft on Ross causing him to loose his momentum. I just wonder if Ross was running out of fuel causing him to slow up off the turn.
Some of that too is probably the no ride height rule. If they had to maintain ride height, they would get more suspension travel and not be quite as in the ground. Diffuser likely not helping either. Raise it by a half inch, meaning cut a 1/2” from the height of the diffuser on the bottom and that could help as well with the cars bottoming out.
Random but I miss Lost Speedways
I love Jr.
doing plugs....so funny
One interesting “race” At Texas doesn’t mean this track is “back” or ever was good! Look at how long the seats have been empty & how it lost its second date! The track has had issues since its first race! They need to get rid of the track, get a good short track car & give the date to Wilksboro or even the Fairgrounds in Nashville!
Texas is getting more groves finally it was a good race
I never ever can get in on ask Jr., i wonder what hed think if at feasible tracks, cup cut the event to one day, why not practice 12-1, qualify at 5pm, and lets go racing by 7pm. I dont see how its cost more money besides tires
No matter how track conditions are at any track every driver are dealing with the same thing
I thought there was some really good RACING this past week. RACING.....
And Chase Elliott seems to be more of a politician than a race car driver.
Sam looked great justin got another bad break or mistake but sam is looking more more like that next top guy
Hell yeah
Jimmie wining would be like Tom Brady coming back as as a head coach or even a owner. And winning. American analogy.
Texas was exciting love loose in the corner racing
Where is Mike this year?
Stepped down. Still helps produce. His decision. Said he was going to at end of last season
They need to go back to longer practices Dale

somebody said jr mentioned a local track, east carolina motor speedway on his podcast. anyone know anything about it
Robersonville, North Carolina. closed down I think

I cant get bird dogs in Texas 😢
Everyone like the vid
I've watched this show from the 1st episode, I really wish Jr would get new co hosts other than these 2 kids.
They just dont know much about racing and dont know the history
As long as Denny the Knob Gobbler hits the wall its great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you seen his fiancé?
@@ethanweeter2732 There is a lot of stupid out there that can be bought!!!!
Respectfully no cant draft especially side draft follow the leader because not enough HP to break the bubble
Thats right. Next Gen cars always look how trying to merge on a freeway with 4cylinders feels
Practice cost money that small teams don’t have, not good
Small teams can afford 90 minutes each week that not a super Speedway and 20 minutes if choose to use it at super speedways outside of the 500 as other than adding 20 minutes of practice before qualifying the amount of practice is fine
No practice is absolutely silly and ridiculous
Other than super speedways they have some practice
Miss Mike
They could easily give rookies or special occasions like Jimmie more practice time.
Jr. I’ve met u a couple times out at Texas for some stupid reason I never got ur autograph! lol how can I get ur autograph? I’m a huge Earnhardt fan for many years. Thanks!
Did you get a photo with him? I think that would be almost as cool.
@@ethanweeter2732 no wish I would have. I did however get a guy name Eddie Hill he was a top fuel driver back n the day he was a hoss but ended up getting his autograph. Met John Force and dummy me didn’t get his autograph but I don’t get out to any of the tracks much these days
Heck yes its good again! please dont say sketchy!😠
Do 1 hr of practice, don’t need 3 or 4 hrs of practice!! I prefer no practice at all.
It seems like the simulator has taken the place of on track practice but some drivers dnt like it that way
Right especially old school drivers or ones that don't get much sim time
I have a question, I'm a Texan. Just hopping into f1 and nascar. You said that Texas has been you know bad I assume. How come? Is it the track, the crowd, the location...what are you talking about I'm curious lol
texas got repaved and it changed the track
@@augustusappling139 oh really, that's a big deal
The track. Why the fans have called it TexAss for a while. It has been better in the Next Gen I think, but the Next Gen is better on 1.5 mile tracks mostly. The other problem is Texas became one groove after the repave. It is getting better as it ages though.
@@johntorres532It being Texas, the new asphalt might not be wearing too much since it probably does not get as cold as much in Fort Worth as it does at northern tracks.
