- Athletes from all seven continents joined together to symbolically light the Special Olympics #FlameOfHope, signaling the beginning of seven days of sport, human endeavor & unity.
A crowd of thousands, including people of determination, Heads of State, dignitaries, VIPs, celebrities, members of the community, families and fans were there to witness an incredible spectacle that encompassed the spirit of the Special Olympics, the goals of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi and the vision of the UAE.

حفل افتتاح الأولمبياد الخاص الألعاب العالمية أبوظبي 2019 حضره الآلاف، من ضمنهم أصحاب الهمم، رؤساء الدول، وكبار الشخصيات، والمشاهير، وأبناء المجتمع، والعائلات والمعجبين، والذين احتفوا بالروح التي يعبر عنها الأولمبياد الخاص، والأهداف التي تسعى الألعاب العالمية لتحقيقها، ورؤية ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

There is no greater feeling than getting to say you've been Olympian! 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in my time, to be on the podium crowds roaring, to have seen the Flame of Hope lit on 3 separate occasions, it is truly an awe inspiring experience and one you remember for a lifetime!
I will never forget this.
As a Volunteer, I am very proud of all the determined who participated in this event. Remember that you are all loved!

There were 200 countries represented, no way they can put all of them on the video, it took them an hour to come into the stage.
