Mount Olive Lutheran in Milwaukee also has a deaf ministry, and it’s been cool to see the congregation embrace it, with many members taking the time to learn it as well to communicate with their deaf brothers and sisters.
What a great talk show on this subject!
There is a an older fellow who because of age is for all practical purposes is deaf. He uses some app on his phone that transcribes the speech. He uses it during services so he can follow along.
My 102 year-old father uses an app called Ava that does that as well. It’s been a game changer for him.
Another positive to learning ASL is not only to be able to communicate and minister with deaf people but also some nonverbal autistic people use ASL.
should have done this whole video in sign language
Glory to Jesus Christ! The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Siberia has recently ordained a deaf-mute deacon to the ministry of Word and Sacrament.
I sure wish people would have a ministry for the blind or mostly blind as well as the deaf. I have yet to get a Bible that's legible for me to read and in all black print.
Good day to you all..
I remember Rush Limbaugh used to say he needed hearing assistance from technology to do his job. I wonder how much of that could be used for services?
What's the name of that deaf movie?
@BryanWolfmueller Give it one year, two at the most, and it will be fast and cheap to generate sign language videos using AI. You could translate your back catalogue! Or do original content...the heavens are the limit!
