First truck I drove as a full-time driver in January of 1974 was a 1973 DM600 Mack. It had the 237 twin stick 6-speed. It was a Tri axle dump truck. We Haul coal in the winter work construction in the summer. Drove the tri axle for about a year then switch to tractor trailers and never look back. After 43 years I retired May 1st 2017. If a Mack truck had Mack rear ends they were the toughest off-road construction and pit trucks you could get that was a road truck. My last truck was a 2015 Mack pinnacle. It had an automatic transmission, electric windows, air conditioning, stereo, cruise control it was like a Cadillac compared to them old trucks. And the trucks I started with in the seventies were like Cadillacs compared to the trucks the guys drove before me back in the 40s and 50s and 60s.
😎👊..love the old mack trucks..that's funny he told his son that he'd kick his butt if he ever became a truck driver..my dad told me the same thing..even tho he taught me how to back one..ha..and..well..I respected what he said..I'm an sawmill worker..operate loaders..trimmer..can drive a truck..off road only..👊😎
hello, my boss just acquired this type of truck which is also a '73 and the steering pump is acting up and has a lot of play in it when turning. does anybody know a make and model for steering pump this unit uses? i would get me in the good graces of my boss since he cant find it on the quick search.
