      Hi SROD, When we moved into the house, the room was already built like that. The spotlight is actually built into the ceiling, and its position is unmovable. Sorry, I don't have more information than that. It does work well for a comic book room 🙂

    How do they measure the grading curve for golden age books?
    If a Modern book in the condition of that Fun Comics 73 were graded without bias, it wouldn't be anywhere near a 7.0
    How do they calibrate the forgivable flaws from way back then vs. today?
    Seems arbitrary...

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      HI Joshua, That's a good question. I asked a senior grader one time who said that in some way golden age was different regarding grading and sometimes not. The paper was different, the covers were different, the manufacturing process was different too. If I find out more about this issue, I'll include it in a video.

  • @Comicbookyoutubersrock

    You missed an Action 1 sale from March. A CGC NG that sold for $126K in a Comicconnect auction. It was conserved and had original cover pieces added to a repro cover.

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Rolodawg. I remember seeing that book. Unfortunately, GPAnalysis doesn't pick up CC sales and it slipped my mind. Also, I intentionally didn't include the purple label books in this video. Thanks for leaving a comment!

    • @Comicbookyoutubersrock
      @Comicbookyoutubersrock ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 Well to be fair conserved isn’t purple, it’s that blue/grey one, but I get your point. Weren’t including books that had any work done to them. Even with the limited amounts of conservation, I just kind of feel like this copy was a good candidate to use to compare. I believe since it was such a low grade, the married pieces didn’t warrant a purple label though if that’s what you were thinking, which I can understand. Anyway, this book literally NEVER sells in the .5-1.0 range. I just think that’s going to explode the potential buyer base for this with it being a .5. So instead of 10 people, like 20-30 🤣. But regardless, I mean if your the average bigger buyer this is your chance to own a near complete copy, sucks the back is missing but the front being there of course means everything. Also you have the potential buyers that have a back cover and can marry it now to this copy to have a complete book. Would be a green qualified label of course, but to be complete I doubt that will matter. So I think this copy will surprise you and sell for a lot more than you might think. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it broke $300K.

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Comicbookyoutubersrock Yeah, thanks. That would have been interesting to include. That's a book that's blurry in so many ways. Should it have been purple or blue/gray? Should it have been NG or 0.5? Obviously, CGC made their decision. Nevertheless, it's the type of situation that must be tough for graders and for would-be buyers to wrap their heads around. Your points are well taken about price and possible buyers. Time will tell, and I'll report back after the auction is over regarding estimate accuracy. Hope you have a great day.

      I have a question and your opinion if I could Keston. If you had say a .5 Superman #1 with a cover that had a 5-6.0 presenting cover missing pin up back cover and say next to a 1.0 Superman #1 with the cover that looks well a 1.0 and back cover missing half the back pinup. Which choice would you choose. Always love your opinion

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kryptoniterocks8245 Shew...interesting dilemma. I'm sure opinions vary wildly out there. For me, I'd take the 5-6.0 presenting front cover with the missing back cover but it's close. Your question is a good example of why it's so tough to evaluate price at the 0.5 level. How about you, Kryptonite?

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kryptoniterocks8245 Hi Kryptonite! That's a tough one, and I'm sure opinions will vary wildly. For me, I'd take the 5.0-6.0 fc eye appeal w the missing bc, especially given that the 1.0 is missing half the bc and doesn't have good eye appeal from any side. This is a great example of why it is so difficult to price ultra-low grade books. I have no problem paying more for a 0.5 with great eye appeal than a 1.0 that's a mess. How about you? What do you think.

    • @kryptoniterocks8245
      @kryptoniterocks8245 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I def share deeply the same view as yours 😀. Eye appeal is every bit as important regardless what grade it is. As much as a 1.0 is a higher grade by a .5 the cover is def what sells the book more 🙂
