Look at his specific work in defending soldiers against the unjust politically motivated charges relating to Iraq. As a serving Officer I think this a fantastic choice. He is competent, qualified and passionate. Honorary Colonel’s can come from all walks of life and a mix of veterans, reserves and civilians provide opportunity to champion the Army’s values and standards in a variety of different environments. Congratulations Col.

One thing not mentioned in the vid is that musicians in the Corps of Army Music (CAMUS) primarily serve as musicians, but they are also trained as soldiers. (It's different in the Navy and the Air Force.) They undergo basic military training like any other soldier, which equips them with essential combat skills such as fieldcraft, weapon handling, and first aid. While their primary role is ceremonial and musical duties, especially during state events and public performances, they can also be called upon to support military operations in non-combat roles, such as providing medical support, guarding instillations, or logistical assistance. They are soldiers first and musicians second, meaning they are part of the overall military structure but with a specialized function.
