Ya know,,, all I can think when I see thumbs down on great explicit videos like this is,, that there are people who are so miserable in their own lives that they just have nothing better to do then just go video to video thumbing them down without even watching them! This was the best how it's done video start to finish I seen so far! Thank you so much! I seen how the plug lines went on correctly ( since mine were played with and coulda went either way) before you taken it apart all the way to where exactly the vent gets attached behind the coil spriing! Great video! Helped me immensely! Thank you for posting this!
Thanks for the effort of producing this concise video. I'm about to make the same repair on my Dodge Ram and it's nice to see all the components up-close and clearly shown before I climb under my just recently Fluid Film coated truck. Much appreciated!
doing this tomorrow thanks good stuff the only thing i would add is if you have a compressor blow through the lines to make sure no leaks or stopped up like mine was.
Fantastic video, it was super easy to understand and right to the point. This was extremely helpful and exactly what i needed to see to get me running again. Thanks a million!!!!
Thank you so much for your video! It was very informative , very thorough, help me out tremendously mine was quite a bit more rusted then Yours some WD-40 and some time and patience I got it apart got to put back together and now my 4 wheel drive is working again! Thank you very much!
Thank you for your video and your teaching, it helps me a lot to fix my truck, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience, a new subscriber to your channel👏👌
My question is , I was doing some cleaning and inspecting under my truck and I realized that the circle part that the 2 vac hoses hooks to would turn back and forth a good half turn by hand really easily , is it normal for that part to turn half way around each way or is it supposed to be stationary , mind you I’ve never tried to engage 4x4 in this truck
That I haven't seen in many post and forums this is a very good informative video very detailed so great job on that but also zit pops on control the light is coming on but it's not actually going into four-wheel this is going to be my next thing is doing a pressure test to see that if it is holding a vacuum if it isn't then we know that that's a bad diaphragm and I'm going to replace it thank you
great video.. very well done. I was told that if the front driveshaft/axle wasn't engaged that the truck would roll if it was in park. if one front axle is split by this collar how could that be true? it also seems that the opposite side axle would be working the differential to death in two wheel drive. What am I missing here? Is the transfer case constantly in 4wd to keep this from happening?
I know this vid is 3yrs old but a question for anyone willin to answer, the red and black vacuum lines on the actuator, do those both have vacuum pressure while the truck is runnin?
Thank you for this video,my truck is stuck in 4 wheel drive, can the actuator cause this problem ? The truck went into 4 wheel drive but it won't shift back out .
If the vacuum diaphragm is leaking then it may not be able to shift out of 4WD. You can try jacking the front end off the ground. Remove the actuator sensor and there is a rod in the actuator that pushes against the sensor. Push on the rod to slide it out of 4WD. You might have to "rock" the passenger tire back and forth while pushing the rod. The engine should be OFF. Be sure the vehicle is safely supported.
Aight guys .. need some help ... Where does the last line goes attached to after the clip ... Cuz mine is broken and the hose is hanging out till the connector
My light stays on in 2wheel drive, in 4x4 it turns off. Does this mean my 4x4 is stuck and engaged? One time the light went off on 2H and also stayed off on 4H. I tried changing the sensor.
No, just make sure when you put it together that the "yoke" goes over the collar. (once you have it apart you should be able to slide the collar in and out of 4 wheel drive by hand)
Great video. My lever on my 99 Dodge Ram1500 is difficult to move from 2H to 4H, N and 4L but after toggling the lever a bit, it does move to 4H and I see the light on the instrument panel. I got this truck a month ago and truck works great overall but I want to figure out how to make it easier to move the lever. I am not sure if related to the vacuum actuator or shifter assembly needs some WD40 so shifter moves easier like yours in the video? Any ideas? Thanks.
I’ve got a 96 ram 1500 4x4 but I’m always scared of putting it into 4 because of grinding noises. Am I not supposed to be in neutral or is something wrong?
Currently doing this on my first gen. I can not for the life of me get the new diaphragm installed without destroying the part or myself. The original diaphragm had to be hammered out. Anyone have any tips?
I appreciate the video, my old man has been in the hospital and i couldn't have fixed my truck without this video.
Great video. My vent line had fallen down and I had no idea where it was supposed to go. This was very clear.
Probably the best video I had ever seen with great detail. Thanks

Beautiful work, most helpful. I didn’t know how the system works until I checked out this excellent video, thanks, Dave!

Great video, I like the way you explain things. Not to fast and very clear. Thanks
Excellent video. Straight to the point. Excellent job.
Outstanding how to video. I am impressed with your thoroughness and sequence of action. Well done and thank you.
Thank you for your video, I'll check vacuum once the snow melts
Great video. You covered everything. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, old video but this helped a lot! How much oil should I put a into the axle at the end?

This is instructional video is very well done.
What is the source for parts, particularly the yoke shoes?
Appreciate the info, thank you
great video

Thank you! This video was very helpful!
Well done full of info thanks you would make a super instructor
Excellent video!!! Very helpful.... Thank you...
10/10 video.
If the 4x4 light comes on, does this mean the actuator is working correctly?
yes, the light will not come on until the 4WD is fully engaged
Just a fyi for everybody-- test your new actuator before you install it. I got two bad Dormans in a row.
Excellent!
Thanks!!! I’ll be doing this next week
I know this vid is 3yrs old but a question for anyone willin to answer, the red and black vacuum lines on the actuator, do those both have vacuum pressure while the truck is runnin?
black is 4wd red is 2wd. You’re obviously spending most time in 2wd so red always working.
i need the little black and red hoses - do most parts stores have them ?
Excellent detail.Thanks
Excellent Video!
Nicely done

Great video ,, thanks
My light stays on in 2wheel drive, in 4x4 it turns off. Does this mean my 4x4 is stuck and engaged? One time the light went off on 2H and also stayed off on 4H. I tried changing the sensor.
Does it matter if I take that piece out with 4wd engaged?
No, just make sure when you put it together that the "yoke" goes over the collar. (once you have it apart you should be able to slide the collar in and out of 4 wheel drive by hand)

That would be your linkage to the transfercase
Where did you get the parts ? Nobody seems to have them anymore. Dodge discontinued them in 23 july
I ordered the parts from RockAuto
EBAY
AMAZON
ROCKAUTO
SUMMITRACING
Awesome Video! Curious to where you found the punisher emblem?
it's just something I designed and 3D Printed
Where do I add the oil for this? And also what type of oil is used?
Through the front inspection plan. Go to the parts store and tell them what you have they will bring it up or better yet Google it
I’ve got a 96 ram 1500 4x4 but I’m always scared of putting it into 4 because of grinding noises. Am I not supposed to be in neutral or is something wrong?
Sounds like you need a new transfercase
Ethan Dart I actually just was able to get into 4 wd it wanted to be in drive
What about replacing the fluid inside the front differential?
remove cover, clean, RTV silicone, reinstall, remove fill plug, fill until it leaks out, reinstall fill plug, done.
Just suck it out add new
Like everyone else says awesome video
Currently doing this on my first gen. I can not for the life of me get the new diaphragm installed without destroying the part or myself. The original diaphragm had to be hammered out. Anyone have any tips?
Seen a hose hanging from bottom of my truck; turns out it was just the actuator vent hose...thanks
What were the symptoms of having to replace this actuator?
Your 4x4 not working
Unrelated to the video itself, how or where did you get that punisher logo on the grill?
I designed it and then 3D Printed it
What if the light come on when in two wheel drive but goes off in four wheel drive
Are the vacuum lines possibly switched around? Is it actually in 4WD when you shift out of 4WD?
please tell me where you got that punisher emblem on the grill
I made it on my 3D Printer
Where did you get the hood emblem???
I designed it and then 3D Printed it
@@WilliamFrawley want to make another???
Anyone here after watching that 1A auto video?
Mickey mouse. 4x,4. I can't believe. Dodge does really suck. Hubs nice. Vacuum. In 40 below?
Excellent video!
