      People who arent old enough n people our age are quick to forget...Kanye West was a conscience backpack rapper n he was the only conscience on Rocafella i dont endorse the dumb shit he says...but his ego is in tact he is a genius he changed the direction of hip hop without there wouldnt a lane for a normal human being with emotions and real problem when this dropped everybody was SupaDupa Gangsta n coke kingpins Kanye West wore his heart on his sleeve not mention his influence on fashion they laughed at him now look Yeezy is the most popular "New" shoe Retro jordans are repeats n unlike NBA players Kanye West design the yeezys himself

    For all the youngsters out there, I just wanna say, Kanye was untouchable when he made this. Someone else commented that he had to evolve so he could stay relative, and thats true but I still miss Kanye. He was so genuine and made such great music. These songs never get old. But I love his new songs too, just wanted to remind people how good he really was.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you do not have to "evolve to stay relative" You stay yourself and your music becomes untouchable. Johnny Cash, Willy Nelson, Eminem, Bob Marley, Snoop Dogg, all iconic artists that kept doing what they did and had hit after hit after hit. The only person that could do "change your style every album" was David Bowie and he was just doing that as part of an art movement thing and nothing to do with his album sales.

    • @zeffery101
      @zeffery101 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      He didn’t evolve to stay relevant. He’s never followed trends. Everything he did started a new wave in the industry and he left those sounds once it got popular

      @Updogg3000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Will Carroll I don’t really deserve any props, but I appreciate it nonetheless! 🙌
      It was a crazy time back then (and the decade or so prior), mainly cuz music wasn’t digital or so easily accessible. I’m sure +Mr. Hazel can attest to it.
      It still took effort to find shit like that, using file sharing clients like Limewire and Napster. Before that, i had to order mixtapes (actual cassette tapes! Fuck, I’m getting old) from sandboxautomatic.com or cop mixtapes when I visited NY to see family, so there was a real feeling of discovery.
      Don’t get me wrong, these are great times for music fans, and the accessibility to all this music is a great thing!

    • @willcarroll9762
      @willcarroll9762 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Chris L damn man it’s crazy cause I probably wasn’t alive when most of those tracks were recorded, I was born in 2002. But yea man, the feeling of discovering a new artist is a great one, let alone one as big and great as Kanye, as I’m sure you can attest to. Definitely wish I got a Spotify account/Apple Music sooner than I did (like late 2017 if I remember right) but I definitely do remember downloading shit off lime wire with my brothers to put on our old iPods and mp3s.
      Appreciate the reply, pretty cool hearing about the origins of Kanye’s fame haha

      Honestly who knows if it would be as big. TCD would have been filled with so many dope songs it could have been overshadowed easily. There’s still a lot of great tracks on graduation but this is closer to the top. Not to mention this, hey mama and what turned into gold digger were all on the album. That og tracklist was fucking stacked. Literally no skips. Could have been better than MBDTF!! Here’s a photo of the original tracklist; twitter.com/tillyksg/status/1271506790207930369?s=21

    This man is so talented at such a young age, he raps like it just happened without the rage, going through security without being tazed, going into boxing rings without being dazed, no matter what his vision is seeing he just kept believing, gathering strength everyday without retreating, passing by stories that seem misleading, going through the streets of Chi without ever receiving a beating.

    @Chasm1111 what makes him such a great artist, is he learns from his mistakes, like the whole criticism on 808's with the auto tune, but in my dark twisted, he uses auto tune in such a clever way, thats never been done. its why i highly respect him for how, he adapts to his weak points, and manipulates them and make it a strong point, he will be a fave producer of mine forever.

    • @yrandyc11
      @yrandyc11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s definitely mine. Very powerful. The mixing and sampling of the Patti Labelle and the Bluebells cover “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is HEAVEN for me. Pattie and the Bluebells were a huge act back then in the theaters and concert circuit, like Showtime of the Apollo. We also know the Supremes were their rivals, and took one of their members to go mainstream, and are legends now. The Bluebells were the “Sweethearts of the Apollo” because they owned that stage every performance. Kanye is talking about coming “home” to his sweetheart. The Labelle’s pressed on as Labelle and finally went mainstream with “Lady Marmalade” it proved that unfortunately keeping up with the times in music was the best way for survival back then, and still is present today. Kanye had started blowing up and they decided to re-record this on his album with Chris Martin of Coldplay. I don’t care for the version, it wasn’t bad, but my favorite is this one. I understand that was music at that time so he had to adapt. I suspect now about 20 years later, kids, success, a marriage and now a public divorce, not to mention a bipolar diagnosis, is going to have him coming “home” again. Maybe this version will finally get what it deserves, the only thing would be missing would be Cindy, at the time, of this recording still was in the group, before the leave and drama. Also, Sarah Dash recently passed away sadly. Patti did say she had made up with Cindy years ago so a re release or recording of this song could be like a “Dream Girls” performance including past and present members and paying tribute to the losses.
