    PART ONE OF THE TRANSMISSION DISASSEMBLY: (Episode 17) • M410 Transmission Disa...
    Episode 36! The 1969 Volvo 164 “Ivy” originally had a 4 speed M400 gearbox. The M410 is the same 4 speed gearbox, but bolted up to an electro-hydraulic overdrive (supplying the 5th speed)unit made by Laycock de Normanville, Type J. That unit is going to prove to be its own challenge in the following video. Until then, this is the gearbox-only reassembly, with new bearings in the main and countershaft. This is the Volvo M410 transmission step-by-step rebuild video. Rebuilding an M410 is VERY similar to an M40 and M41, only different in being more complicated!

    Absolutely love this content. While I'm struggling with simple maintenance items I can watch you highlight the rebuilding of an M410. You have no idea how inspiring that is.

    Gotta get the clearnace correct. Rebuilding a gearbox was more complexity than I was prepared to deal with when I was in my 20s. Still is. Bravo David.

    Dear David Bello.
    👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (work and video). This time Murphys law kicked in and you got pretty tired. Out of my experience: Immediately stop working and go to bed. Next morning things will be found miraculously and a lot of difficult things will slide in easily (always happened to me at least).
    Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
    Best regards luck and health.

    The green books show the use of all the special tools because they were ment for dealerships and the workshops at the dealership would have had all the factory tools available.

    • @DavidBello

      Then why do I have it in PDF?

    • @Andy-sh9eq
      @Andy-sh9eq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once computers were wide spread in industry it became avaliable in pdf replacing the paper and microfiche versions as dealerships became computerised, so people shared them around via download sites and email etc, but you could buy an original printed one from dealers parts departments, but originally they were written for dealers who would have the tools as mentioned. There are also new reprinted green books available for sale new at specialist parts companies in Europe, I was just saying why the green books always show the use of the factory tools to do the jobs that's all.

    As I mentioned previously, the countershaft bearings were upgraded to taper roller bearings (just like the picture in the "green book"). Your supplier did not send them to you? The taper roller bearings take the torque thrust much better and preclude balls from being spit out the back of the gearbox.

      VP sells the Volvo part numbers direct from the catalog. I’ve found that if something was upgraded in the past, they’ll either sell that with the same or updated part number. This was the only option I found for these bearings. I noticed they have better access to oiling by design but I guess it’s just one more thing to cross my fingers over. 😬

      how you managed to watch one of David's videos in 2022 and just now get tired of his gestures and reasoning is beyond me.
