- Drew Sarich in Les Misérables was a sensation for me. Nobody played this role the way he did. From all the material I found on TH-cam (thanks to everybody who filmed it and made it possible to re-enjoy!), I put the best bits together. I didn't film anything of it, I just wanted to make it possible for everybody to watch the whole development of the character. It is so amazing! Applause for Drew Sarich!
Drew Sarich, the only man to play both main characters in musicals based off of Victor Hugo's Novels. Valjean in Les Mis and Quasimodo in Disney's Hunchback (in Germany) A true talent here!!!
He is also one of the few (only?) people to play both Javert and Valjean.
@@Broadway_Ben if you are in German shows they often swap the roles about. I'm writing a book about the show and have interviewed a number of German singing (but from lots of different nationalities who went there to work) Valjeans and Javerts. I spoke to Drew and he says playing both gives you a good understanding of how the interaction between the characters work. One of my German Valjeans said exactly the same, and made me view the characters a lot differently.
If I recall, Nathaniel Hackmann also played Quasimodo once before, and understudied Ramin Karimloo in the 2014 Les Mis revival.
I heard Drew at 19 YEARS OLD playing Baron in Grand Hotel at Boston Conservatory. YAS BITCHES...I have a casting director's ear. This man COULD SANG HIS FUCKIN ASS OFF. And i believe his tone on those high notes here even BEST Colm himself. He's the only one ever cast who sings the role with a poppy top as opposed to a legit one. It doesn't sound right with a semi legit/operatic "covered" top. It has to be wide open like Colm. And Drew has IT
I saw Drew as Valjean in the West End of London in 2008. I have seen this show 18 times across the US and in London, and he was the greatest Valjean. First time I ever waited outside a stage door after a show.
Thank you for your compilation. I saw him on Broadway as Valjean and he blew me away. Of course, I also saw Lea Salonga as Fantine and Adam Jacobs as Marius. It was a cast that made me forget there was a world out there... EXTRAORDINARY!
Alexander Zamora pure magic of theatre! These are the best moments ever!
Love Drew Sarich! He is brilliant! He plays every role with such honesty.
Pure talent. I'm a fan of Drew since I saw him at the first time. His vocal range and actor skills are very impressing. He always gives all from his heart in any single musical he played. Keep it going Drew!
Definitely more of a rock B, than a classical B - amazing none the less. I just found out about Drew tonight - wow...
omg this dude is a really good val jean i think i just found my new favorite.
I love him in this! If only he would come back to the US to play the Phantom, now that would be something I'd pay a good amount of money to see.
He would be great in that role
Absolutely extraordinary actor for Valjean.
thanks for letting us in London enjoy such magnificence
I would like to see as the phantom in POTO. He would be great
my word! This man gives me goosebumps! Amazing!
Aww a very young Valjean but he’s got great vocals. Love!
OMG Thanks so much for uploading!!!! I love Drew.... He's so amazing
Drew should play the phantom
He's terrific, and I'm a big fan. However, you should try out Alfie Boe. He's pretty amazing as JVJ himself. ;)
I love how talented he is. He's capable to play Valjean and one of the very few (along with Carl Anderson) capable of playing Judas and Jesus.
I only wish you would have found and include the part where death Fantine and death Eponine sing with Valjean "And remember, the truth that once was spoken: To love another person is to see the face of God."
WOW!
The best!!!!
I think his voice is a little "young sounding" for Valjean on the whole (though that rendition of Bring Him Home is killer), but that's just personal preference. I think Drew is probably more naturally suited for roles like Jesus/Judas, but I'm being extremely picky when I say that. Dude's amazing and I'm talking about the difference between a pretty good Valjean and probably the best Judas outside of maybe Carl Anderson. You're arguing great and unbelievably great either way.
He had better stage presence that Ramin as Valjean.
@@at1212b his stage presence is incredible! Never seen anyone on stage who blew me away like he did
Great voice
Amazing.
Was this london or broadway, I saw him on Broadway as Jean Valjean and his performance was quite different than this and had a much more deeper register. It was phenomenal. Cossette here isn't Ali Ewoldt as I recall her and adam jacobs as Marius when I saw them back in 2007.
this is a mixture of Broadway and London. He took over from Alex in the Broadway Revival and then came over to London to do Valjean here. Very different experience apparently (I interviewed him for a book I am writing on the show).
Nice job. Any cast that takes this one on is a friend of mine. History is going to be very kind to this musical.
He is BEST as Judas though, that is HIS role
That Javert is pretty good too.
we got to give some creds to the javert here though...he's awesome, whats his name?
Peder Myrbakken Robert Hunt! I saw him perform the role for a charity performance of Les Miz in Evansville years ago! He is absolutely wonderful!
Drew You are a God and DCho
Drew you are THE Real Jean Valjean Ooo BABy
YOU CAN SING! I'M A HUGE FAN
The Javert was pretty good as well
His portrayal of valjean in my opinion is on top with Colm wilkinson
This might be controversial, but no one from first time to last night has done the "24601" that well.
What do you mean any cast that takes this on? This is the professional production, not an amateur cast trying to perform Les Mis...
Where can I see the whole show with Drew sarich?
THAT THE REAL JEAN VALJEAN
WOW......he just belted out that high C!
where is there a high C? I only heard him go to a high B
DrewValjeanJudasRudofROCKY!
That sounds like ramin almost
Was this a Broadway production?
Who is that as Javert?
robert hunt!
that I just wanted to say:D
he is very good as judas and jesus but he couldn't play the role valjean because he is a rock tenor
A tenor playing a role written for a tenor? 😱😱
he is not good as valjean he is better as Jesus
