commenting incase anybody has the same problem as i did, if your project is curling it means your stitches are too tight!!!!! this applies to all corchet projects. i undid mine and redid it with looser stitching and it went perfectly! you can also use a bigger hook to help with this
My first attempt came out HUGE. Like comically huge. I turned it into a basket instead. I tried again with a smaller yarn and its perfect. Now i have a good idea of how big the circle should be and that i dont have to do all rows if i use a thicker yarn or hook.
Atleast you managed to repurpose the first attempt😄 nonetheless I’m glad to hear that you learnt from the initial trial at this pattern and yes! When using a larger hook and yarn the pattern will vary and it should be modified to suit the materials you are working with.
For me the eye spacing was going to be too short, the eye spacing that you made measured a little under 5" and I need mine to be 6". So instead of counting 34 on each side, I counted 32. I hope it works. Fingers crossed.
I hope it worked! The eye spacing will definitely be different for everyone that’s why I would try on my work as I crocheted to make sure that it would fit me well.:)
If anyone else is a newbie to crocheting - skip the first chain and do and actual magic circle instead. I tried pulling the thread 20 different times with this method and the hole at the top wouldn't close no matter what. Tried the magic circle and it worked perfectly.
I am a bit confused how the stitch markers land at 34 away on both sides with 22 in the middle. That would equal 90 stitches. However. At the end of row 10, where we start to go without any increases there are only 80 stitches, idk if I’ve gone wrong somewhere, but any help would be appreciated
Hiii, I know it's been a little while but I've noticed the same thing. The original tutorial worked for me only when I made a mistake (which I realised after) of doing 18 hdc in the second round instead of 16 (the normal double). I am now doing it the correct way and I'm stuck on whether to do an extra row or continue down and figure something out when I get to the eyes. What did you do? :))

At the end of row 10 is was 5 inches in diameter so I added a couple extra to get it to 6.5 inches which is what you mentioned yours was, but it's still tiny. Is it worth unravelling it and adding more rounds?
Hi! I’m not sure why that has happened, maybe your stitches are abit looser? or it may have something to do with the yarn you used? Again I’m not too sure as I don’t know what your project looks like but I hope I can help

Yes I think so! It definitely will have more of an open feel to it as the gaps will be bigger! It just depends on how much larger your hook is. However I think that should work:)

Hi! Thanks for the pattern! I just finished the circle and have begun to hdc through the back loop. I'm concerned it might be too small. Approximately how big should the circle portion be before starting to work down with the hdc stitches? Should it cover the top of your head? Do you have an approximate diameter? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I just don't want to go down 6 more rows only to realize it's too tiny. Thanks! ☺️

i definitely feel like it’s a me problem but on round 9 i finish on an increase i go past my stitch marker. it’s happened before and i’m unsure if that’s normal or if i’m supposed to just stop at the stitch marker

Hey I noticed your reply didn't get a response so I wanted to explain what is meant by back loop. When you make a stich and it looks like a 'V'. The loop that is furthest away from you is the back loop. You are going to place 1 HDC in the back part of the stitch (the section of the 'V' that is furthest away). Then for rows 12-20 you are going to place a HDC through the whole 'V' (through the loop in the front and the loop in the back, going through the whole 'V'). I hope that helps.
idk what im doing wrong mine looks the same as urs but on my head it looks like a minecraft helmet :< is there like a kind of belt loop type thing i can make and make a little like corset tie cause i dont want to redo it but i dont wanna look like i have a ginormous head :/
You’re going to place 1 hdc in 4 stitches (only one in the next 4 stitches) and then 2 hdc in the one stitch after our 4 hdc if that makes sense, so remember in row 5 we placed 1 hdc in 3 stitches and then 2 hdc in one stitch after for our increase? we’re repeating that process again just increasing by one the amount of times we place hdc across stitches. I really hope this helped you
So I watched Emma’s video that you linked and I see she is making a bucket hat instead. But she does hdc in the front loop and you made yours in the back. So do I make the hdc for row11 in the back or front loop?
