This is what I call a “road train” because it’s an articulated vehicle, it has doors on both sides of the bus, it stops on platforms, it runs thru bus only lanes.
Nice to see we have more options popping up around Houston. I just signed up for a metro account. looks like I’ll have to learn how the metro system works Thanks for the vid
I wonder why they didn’t use electric trolleybuses for this line. It would make it much more enjoyable to ride, and it would make the transition to light rail in the future a lot easier with the catenary infrastructure already in place.
I'm guessing because that would be rather expensive. BRT is low cost alternative that I wish more American cities world adopt to mitigate our transit issues.
Cool. Last time I rode the H1 on the Purple line was in 2017. Also, in 2015, the H3 train broke down on the Purple Line. H1 came (from Harrisburg) and towed the H3 train.
That car doesn't classify as a SLAB anymore. It's a clown car with clown shoes. It's a circusmobile. SLABS actually look good and influential and can be driven easily. Waist of a vehicle. Wrong type of car to be a SLAB anyway. As for the empty lot, hopefully that Titan Tower that got cancelled can go there. Great video👍🏾👍🏾
Also, no offense to METRO, but that is one slow BRT line, especially on Post Oak. It’s like they didn’t make the lanes wide enough to allow for safe speeds faster than 20 mph, and the stops are so close together that it just slows the whole line down. Idk if these buses have transit signal priority, but if they do, it’s not working. Sorry, but not a good investment IMO.
I agree. Right now, I know that METRO is working with the City of Houston to get the signal priority, but I'm not sure when. And I hope METRO improves the designs of the BRT for the upcoming lines.
There is going to be a BRT line from Downtown Houston to George Bush Airport only. However, METRO is expanding the light rail (Green & Purple Lines) line to Hobby Airport. You can check their future plans at their METRONext website: metronext.org/
Didn't know this is the first brt in Texas. Thx for letting me know :)
I Love That Bus Announcement 9:14
What Bus Announcement Do You Like?

Yes but no gates stop traffic with lowering arms and blinking red lights for a bus
Choo choo! I'm a train and I approve this video and would like to wish you a happy new year choo choo!! !

Hey H-Town Explorer nice buses for the future
Yes sir! Have an awesome weekday!
Why is that terminal in the middle of nowhere? It does not seem close to a dense location
I wonder why they didn’t use electric trolleybuses for this line. It would make it much more enjoyable to ride, and it would make the transition to light rail in the future a lot easier with the catenary infrastructure already in place.
Probably because of cost , and there is no previous trolley bus infrastructure there
I'm guessing because that would be rather expensive. BRT is low cost alternative that I wish more American cities world adopt to mitigate our transit issues.
Now I can barely hear that engine while idling outside the BRT Platforms!
You gonna do a metro rail ride next?
Yes! Two videos next Tuesday (5/18) of METRORail & a sneak peak of the only underground subway in Texas.
@@HOUExplorer th-cam.com/users/shortsZyGpM-gE5Wc?feature=share the H1 is going to the purple line

Looks faster than the light rail they have there.
Yea the light rails top speed is 60 these buses tap out at 80
Are you gonna do the 54 Scott from Downtown Houston to Hiram Clarke Transit Center
Yes. I'll have that soon.
Nice ride but why there’s no traffic signal priority is beyond me
I believe METRO is still working with the City of Houston to synchronize the traffic signal. Not sure when they will be done.

Do you have to pay to get on the metro rapid in the north west transit center ?
Yes. There is a tap card reader (or a Ticket Vending Machine) on the bus platform. It is just like the METRORail Station.
Oh ok thankyou😀
I like the Northwest side better in my opinion!
I like the design and the location is great! I like that there is a secret access ramp to IH-10 (going towards downtown).
@@HOUExplorer Me too! I guess Metro only has one secret access ramp at Northwest transit center. 🤷🏻♂️
Oh, did you know that Northwest transit center has a (3D printing map)?
That reminds me, I thought I've seen the 3D printing map!
@@HOUExplorer Perhaps you should visit there next time, and see if you can find it, and take a picture of it, how is that sound?
They have to play that mask message at every single stop? Sheesh.
is Houston a new light rail line to the airport George bush and to the uptown area in the future anybody know let me know

METRO has not announced the dates or anticipating year at this moment.
