Another way to play a scale on one string, that I often hear in power metal, is to play the open string twice, fret the next note, open twice, fret the second note,..., and so forth. How it looks in E major: E string: 0 0 2 0 0 4 0 0 5 0 0 7 0 0 9 0 0 11 0 0 12 You can also use hammer-on for the fretted notes and pull-off back to open string Cool vid by the way.
I've just started watching your videos my friend. I've lost a lot of learning time; I wish I would have seen your site "LONG" ago. You have a great way, about you, when teaching. Thanks so much for all of your work and effort. I was sorry to see that your backing Tracks (nice sounding ones) are no longer up for download. I hope you'll start putting them up again.
Thank you Jake. As a beginner these lessons are very helpful in learning, using & sounding musical as I start understanding the importance of intervals. 🙏🙏👍🏽👍🏽
What an awesome lesson! I started practicing lead guitar lately and I really wanted to master playing as much on one string as possible! Great lesson, keep up brotha! :D
Is it possible to see the tab for that last solo where you used one shape and incorporated it with the one string slides. I am a beginner so I hope this isn’t a stupid request.

Excellent, clearly described, music creative lessons. My go to teacher. Thankyou very much from an elderly UK fan.
Same from another ageing UK fan. Some of that reminded me a lot of the Allman Brothers' Band! I've seen Clapton do these moves a lot ,too.
Best lessons on TH-cam. Thanks!
Very helpful! No rain definitely!
Easy but very cool. Great lesson.
Useful and also understandable, thank you!

What would it sound like if you ran up the neck in A, and down the neck in D (or mixing other notes)?
I think that riff in "thinking out loud " by Ed Sheeran has this same lick
